Occupation: Currently he is writing a book containing all the creatures in equestria as well as all the other nature (an encyclopedia of nature, if you will). While he is writing it he scrabbles bits together by collecting custom orders of materials for a potion master in Canterlot.

Cutie Mark: His cutie mark is a Book with a leather lock on it symbolizing his quest to document the world, and his analysis skill. It also represents how he tends to analyze people the moment he meets them, making rather accurate first impressions.

History: It is common sense that an earth pony will work on the fields. They are stereo typed as workers, who do nothing but work the soil. Ink Splotch, was a different case entirely. Ink splotch was born in Manehattan, and spent his early life there. He was educated, raised, and fed there. When he was no more than a foal, his mother left for Las Pegasus, and his dad had to work long distance. This left his dad no means of making income, so his dad was put into overdrive, and had no time for young Ink Splotch. And so it was then, his father sent him off to his brother in the forest, so his dad could work things out at Manehattan.

Ink loved the woods. Adored them. To the point where he would spend nights outside. If his obsession of nature was because of the smell, the beauty, or the peace, he was not to sure. All he knew is that this was paradise. He would often climb atop the trees and explore, making up tales of grand adventures. But all was not well. You see, one night in winter, when his family was falling asleep, Ink went out in the woods. Ink stayed out in the woods too much, and could not find his way back. The howling wind came from all directions, and the cold settled in fast. Ink was extremely cold(thus his fear of cold was created, and amplified), but he did not let this get him down. He found a way to entertain himself. He would sketch pictures of the animals and plants around him, giving them names and writing down their details. Ink fell asleep in front of his note pad. Waking up the next morning, he found his way back to the house, following the chimney smoke. He found he had lost his notepad, but had gained something else, a cutie mark!

Ink quickly settled back in to Manehattan with his father. Ink had trouble fitting in with the locals after he came back form the woods. Life here was no way to live. So, after consulting his father, and saying final goodbyes, he moved out. Now, Ink had a few bits, and absolutely no idea where to go. He would just go with the flow, and see where the world would take him. Ink had never heard of Canterlot before, so when he heard wind of this city, his adventurous spirit set out! He hitched a ride on a train, and arrived at the city. And boy, was he amazed.

This wasn’t just some run of the mill city, no, this was the real deal! Studies, knowledge, fashion, this place had it all! But what really got him, was the spires. Massive towers rising from the ground. What he would do to live in one of those! And that was just what he planned to do. Towers weren't cheap, the safe ones at least. So he began working for various potion brewers and such. Canterlot potion masters did not like to get their hooves dirty, so Ink Splotch would take their request and go out into the forests to get their custom orders. So he went jumped from brewer to brewer, helping them along the way. Now on his quest for money, he happened upon a certain brewer. This potion master was very wise and witty, and Ink took a liking to him. After much convincing and bribery, he allowed Ink to work for him exclusively and live with him in his spire while Ink collected money for a spire of his own. Ink settled in and started his *book. He currently lives with the potion master in his spire. We are brought into the present!

* This book of course being a book that would have all equestrian nature in it (equestrian as in equestria, not relating to horses). Unlike most Earth Ponies, he had a deep interest for magic. The way it works, all the spells, it interests him. Often wanting to learn more about the finer arts, he studies all sorts of magic. He knew he would not be able to complete the book in his life time, so he plans to pass the book on to a capable young writer in his last days.

Character Summary: Ink Splotch is a young stallion, who was thrust into life rather early. Tossed around from place to place, he never really minded. A young stallion, who wants no care, or protection. Who wants to live on his own, and make his own friends. Its not always you see a young stallion that owns his own house. Then again, not all his age are tenacious.

Parents – Not much is known about his mother. She moved to Las Pegasus in his early life. Now his dad, on the other hand, saw him a great deal. His dad was the one that sheltered his kid from any type of sadness that tried to sneak its way into Ink Splotch ’s life. His dad was always there for him. Always. Mind you Ink didn't like people taking care of him very much.

Likes- He enjoys optimistic people, and loves a way to express creativity. Loves honey and honey related products.

Dislikes- He hates downers. He is afraid of the cold, often over dressing in warm clothing, he always wears a scarf.

Flaws – He has a SEVERE fear of cold things. Often getting scared even at the sensation of snow touching his coat, he often over bundles in clothes, and at all times not matter what season he wears a blue and white striped scarf. He hates snow, just detests it. He often doubts the fact that he can document EVERY creature in equestria(it IS a very unrealistic dream).

Personality – An optimist. He never likes to look at any bad side of a situation. Even if he knows he and his friends are in some serious trouble, he often acts like nothing will happen. He is very tenacious, often to the point where it becomes annoying. He loves to go wherever he can. It is very rare he will decline any challenges given. He knows that it is almost impossible to document every creature, but he tries. Loves going on adventures, no matter how small. Often ponies around him will get into some trouble. He loves getting into trouble with friends, and getting out of it. Over all a happy, tenacious, wacky hooligan.

Hello.

Your friendly neighborhood RP Helpstaff here.

I really like your character. There is just one thing I have a question about concerning your character's age. You say he's a young colt and yet he has left his father and is travelling. Now a colt is a teen in human years so typically they would not be old enough to get a job. So, the easiest way is to make him a young stallion which means he's around college age.

Also, besides writing a book, what is his occupation that helps him to put food on the table? And is he staying with a relative or has he found an apartment?

Just a few things to consider before being able to play this character.

Hi! This application is fine, but I do have some feedback that requires consideration:

Canterlot is a resplendent area that is quite well-to-do. It has a massive library, undoubtedly full of information spanning over a thousand years or more -- I think it would contain information about other lands that Ink Splotch may have documented and sold as maps, though I can't imagine very many Canterlot customers would be interested in such a thing. With this information, selling maps to afford a Canterlot spire seems unrealistic -- the cost would be extraordinary, far more than something that could be achieved by selling maps to nobility. I suggest you try reworking that part of your character -- perhaps he could be an apprentice to another map maker or researcher and live with them?

The rest of your application looks great, so you're quite close to a stamp. Please reply when you're ready for another review. Thankies! :)

I rather like this character, I can see great potential for RPing in search of other plant and animal pony experts throughout Equestria. You might want to go back in your app and change the font to be all the same size eventually, but other than that, great app!
