Motivation: In the same type talent show the Cutie Mark Crusaders performed in (Not the very same one, but another time), Pickslide was in the same predicament the three young fillies were in: he wanted a cutie mark right then and there as a young colt. So he listened to the radio in his parents' store and his father told him that a musical act might help. So he borrowed a guitar from the store, practiced a song day in and day out until that faithful night, where he proceeded to play his heart out. He was rewarded with a medal for best musical act and in addition, a cutie mark of a guitar pick appeared on his flank, much to everypony's astonishment.

Character Summary: Pickslide is the oldest in a family of musically inclined Pegasi. His parents are the owners of Fillydelphia's prime music store, "Strings 'n' Things" , which specialized in stringed instruments from cellos to guitars, but had other instruments like pianos and drums, while his younger siblings are still trying to find their musical niche. He has two younger siblings, one colt and one filly. The colt is aspiring to be like his older brother, hoping to be either a singer or a pianist, while the filly has her sights set on being a dancer.

Pickslide is currently in a rock band called "The Epitome of Noise" as their lead guitarist, though he plays solo gigs all across Equestria. His biggest dream in life is to play at the Grand Galloping Gala, but since then the biggest gig he had was at the Best Young Fliers Competition, dazzling the audience by playing while competing. Unfortunately, he got 2nd place, but it was good enough for him to get local businesses hiring him as live entertainment.

As for how The Epitome of Noise formed, it happened once in the music store. Pickslide was helping demonstrate some new electrics that came in when he heard some drums in the background. Another pony, Back Beat, was trying out some electronic drums. When Pickslide was finished with the demonstration, he approached Back Beat and told him he was pretty good and if he'd like to start a band with him. Back Beat agreed and said he had a couple of other friends who was a bassist and and a singer, ans thus, Epitome of Noise was formed. As for their genre, they mainly do covers, but perform their own material as well. Hard rock/classic rock is the main genre they hang around, though they will dip their hooves in the water of metal.

He is still in the band, but he is available for solo pieces (Kind of like Eddie Van Halen and Van Halen or Velvet Revolver and Slash). However, later in life he wants to inherit Strings 'n' things when he marries and has children, but still hopes Epitome of Noise makes it to the big time.

Their first gig was at the same talent show Pickslide got his cutie mark at. It was the following year, and many of the ponies recognized him, but didn't know who the other three, Back Beat, Groove, and Vocal Squeal, were. Before performing, Vocal Squeal introduced himself and the other band members, each letting them do a small solo. They won the music award again, but the true reward was getting their notoriety across Fillydelphia and Equestria as a whole.

Pickslide plays both acoustic and electric guitar, but the guitar his father gave him, an electric guitar he had as a young colt, was the one responsible for giving him his cutie mark, as well as being the guitar on his cuite mark.

This character seems to be headed in the right direction. Perhaps put a bit about what he wants to do in the future. Does he want to stay in a band, go solo, or does he have other aspirations? How did the band he is in form? Does he play the regular guitar, electric guitar, or both? What are his Likes and Dislikes?

Expand a bit on the character, help us get to know him.

I don't think you should reference guitar types from our world. You mention Les Paul twice in the Character Summary. Try coming up with something more pony related, or perhaps just saying guitar. You can use real world things as examples, like you did with the bands, using parenthesis, since it's not actually applying Earth things to Equestria.

Also not quite sure about this part, 'Their first gig together was actually at one of Pinkie Pie's parties at Sugarcube Corner. It was a relatively small crowd, but that's how they met the mane six.' We generally frown upon previously knowing the main cast prior to RPing.

And could you please move the Likes and Dislikes under the Physique?

Changed a few things around, I didn't know prior knowledge of the mane six was taboo (Should have realized that's a death trap). I'll have to think of another first gig if I want to include that at all.

You can take out the part of him being too Mary-Sue. That type of character would be something more along the lines of...

'His parents own a music store and when he was a baby he learned how to play guitar and ever since then he has devoted his time to learning every single type of instrument, he can play any song or instrument just by hearing it/looking at it. He's a famous rock-star and everypony wants to be like him. Princess Celestia herself even made him a prince for a day because has such amazing talent. Everypony he meets becomes his friend and fan. He has never played a wrong note in his life, because he is so amazing.'

Just as a very rough example.

It's basically a pony with a TON of power and/or talent, much more than they should. Being able to play one instrument fluently and maybe even forming a band is something that totally happens in real life. That's kind of what we're looking for, things that would be plausible in our world. Knowing one or two instruments is alright. Just try to think about if the average person would be able to accomplish what your pony does.

He does have two younger siblings, and I might make them character as well, and make profiles for Back Beat, Groove Line, and Vocal Squeal, to get more in tune about their personalities, no pun intended.

And Thank Celestia my character is not a Mary Sue. A few of my previous fan characters (Mainly when I was a Sonic nut) were Marty Stus and I didn't want Pickslide to go down the same road. Glad to see he's on the right track.

The reason why he wears a top hat is for identity purposes. It's kind of his trademark.

I added a little info about the siblings, mainly their gender and what their aspirations are (One wants to be a pianist/singer while the other longs to be a dancer)
