A Guard and Model's Night in Canterlot (Conor Colton, SonicRainboomGirl)

Recommended Posts

Sterling Silver, recently moved and aspiring young Royal Guard Cadette had been enjoying his time in the big city thus far. He enjoyed his job immensely and got great fulfillment out of serving both his city and land, finally thinking himself to be going somewhere in this big wide world of Equestria. The glamorous city was far from what the Ponyville born stallion was accustomed to, but he felt he was settling in nicely. He had made a few friends in the barracks, took in a lot of the sites and performed his job to the best of his abilities.

However, one thing, or rather, one pony seemed to have made his relocation all the more comfortable. On one of his normally scheduled lunch breaks, the stallion had happened upon a small cafe, one he had passed by before but never really frequented. It was one of those days so he figured he may as well had tried new things. And boy was he happy he did. In this cafe he met a rather interesting mare, one, Bebe LeStrange. After some conversation the two of them visited a nearby park, talking about each other's pasts and future goals, as well as some cutie mark stories, along with a strange park environment of music and a picnic, one that was not premeditated...at least, not by Sterling

He had to admit, he felt rather attracted to this mare, and evidently she felt the same way. After a rather nice display of affection in the park the two of them had arranged to have dinner together the following night.

So now we find the young Guard stallion making his way to their agreed location of meeting, the same cafe they met. Admittedly, Sterling was a little nervous, but tried to keep his composure as he walked idly through the city lights and sights, seeing many other pony couples he assumed were having a similar experience to his own. He sported a rather sleek attire, considerably formal but slightly casual, wearing it proudly, and hoping he didn't dress 'too' formally for the occasion.

The stallion had thoughts in his head, thoughts of Bebe. He couldn't believe he had worked up the courage to ask her to dinner, truly a new experience for him. Taking a deep breath, he continued on his walk, "Okay, Sterling...no need to be nervous...you like her, and she likes you...just two ponies who like each other having dinner..." Sterling reassured himself, coming up on the cafe, "Just remember...be calm...be collected...be a gentlecolt." he concluded, standing near the cafe, keeping an eye out for his date, as closely as he would watch the streets of Canterlot for any misbehavior. He was certainly nervous, but also, incredibly happy.

(so sorry for the delay)

Bebe LeStrange applied the last of her black lipstick, smacking her lips together with an audible sound. She definitely intended to use those lips for kissing that night! A first kiss was her goal indeed, and why not? She was in love with a handsome guard and the beautiful night life of Canterlot was calling her name. She loved the vibrant lights, the harsh pushing crowds, and the Canterlot skyline. She wanted to show Sterling all of it. And what better place than over a bit of coffee in her 24th story penthouse?

Just yesterday she had met him. Him. The one who was really perfect for her, Sterling Silver. At least, that's what she had thought. True, Bebe was a bit of a hopeless romantic. However, she had not seduced him in the slightest yesterday, and for that she was proud of herself. All she had done was simply hang out with him and talk. That had never, ever happened before! That meant it was probably something different.

Luckily, Bebe was off to have dinner with him in a few moments. Grabbing a fashionable faux-fur shawl (she would never wear the fur of a small animal! She was cruel, but not wicked! Being wicked was unfashionable), stepped out of her penthouse room and began trotting down towards the coffee shop where she was to meet Sterling Silver in just a few minutes.

She looked beautiful, that much she knew. So why was she so nervous?

"Sterling!" she greeted, recognizing his golden guard armour immediately. It was charming. Hopefully he wasn't hiding a disgraceful face behind that helmet, though. She would see later that night, when she intended to take it off herself.

(Don't worry about it)

Sterling continued to compose himself as he waited, wondering what this night would hold. His mind tended to wander when he was a bit nervous and this was no exception. He imagined almost every possible outcome for tonight, even down to what Bebe was going to wear and what sort of makeup she was going to have and just when exactly she would meet up with him. Most ponies would have called it crazy to over think a situation such as this but Sterling preferred to have all his bases covered.

It was then he began to wonder if he did look presentable or not. Armor was nice and formfitting of course but was it too formal? Could Sterling not let the job go for one night? He certainly hoped he could but that remained to be seen. Regardless, he wondered how tonight would play out. Would the two of them enjoy the sights or just each other's company? Or both? Would Sterling fall for this mare even more than he already had? Would he get to see where she lived? Would they kiss?

That last question stuck out in Sterling's mind the same way a young foal would. He chuckled slightly and came to what he interpreted as an adult conclusion, "Whatever will happen, will happen." he thought.

His ears perked up as he heard a familiar sounding voice approaching him, and calling out his name. He smiled beneath his helmet and turned towards Bebe. It was then that the stallion felt a compulsion to see her in her fullness, so with a quick and gentle motion of his hooves, he removed his helmet and strapped it to a piece of his armor, smiling for the mare to see.

"Hey Bebe!" the stallion greeted, impressed by what Bebe had wore and how she looked, then again, she was a model, "You look very nice this evening, Bebe. Absolutely gorgeous." he remarked with inherent sincerity, "Glad you could make it." Sterling continued, lifting a hoof for her, "Shall we head to dinner or did you have a particular place in mind?" he inquired, seemingly excited.

Bebe stood awestruck as Sterling removed his helmet. She braced herself for anything that would happen, then felt completely shallow. Was she really so superficial that she didn't want to be seen with anyone but the most handsome? Suddenly Bebe realized. She definitely was that shallow, and it really mattered to her if Sterling was handsome.

She was not disappointed by his face. Sharp features framed milky brown eyes, and his mane fell loosely around his face. He had a sharp, handsome muzzle and his proportions were perfect. His smile was earnest, and it's genuine warmth filled Bebe with happiness. Why wasn't he a model himself? Bebe smiled, secretly celebrating his looks.

As compliments came her way, Bebe smiled at Sterling with pride. She couldn't have been happier.

"I'll go wherever you wish, Sterling!" she said, wondering how her hooves stayed so firmly on the ground.

The stallion wondered how Bebe would react to how he had presented himself this evening. In fact him taking of his helmet was a challenge in enough itself for him, as he wondered how Bebe would react, and more importantly whether she would be shallow or genuine under the circumstances. Thankfully though things seemed to be going off without a hitch, and Sterling was more than pleased to decide on where this date was going to be had. He didn't know how to respond to Bebe seemingly letting him make all the decisions but he remained calm and simply answered her.

"Well, lucky me." he remarked with another earnest smile before walking over to the mare's side and admiring her attire once again. He thought for a moment on where this night should take them, and what place would be ideal for a mare like Bebe to enjoy. The stallion thought further on the subject, but found himself distracted by the distant lights of bustling city they were in. But that's when it hit him. He remembered what he told himself earlier, that whatever will happen will happen, and figured he should try and be adventurous for occasion. He thought than rather simply going for dinner and then leaving it at that, that he would literally throw them at the Canterlot nightlife and simply enjoy the grand spectacle that was the city, even for just one night. If there was anything specific he could think on it whilst they were enjoying themselves anyway.

This is when Sterling started to get very excited. He had the whole city to explore. No worrying about his job for tonight, nor his training or his constant improvement of himself...tonight was just a night for him, and Bebe. With that, he offered the mare to hold his armor clad hoof and began making his way to the restaurant he had reserved seats at. He didn't say anything specifically to Bebe in an attempt to not let the evening be bogged down by formalities or any such thing. Tonight was a night for romance, and enjoyment, and Sterling intended to keep it that way. "Then just follow me, let's go enjoy the night, shall we?" he stated confidently to Bebe as they made their way down the street.
