The Academy Chapter 2

Lyria trotted along with Angel, and her tail flicked. Her mind was going crazy with fear, and the thoughts of what would happen if something were to happen to her friends.

Rainbow dash sat still perplexed by the gem, she examined it further trying to figure out what to do. Magic wasnt really her strong suit.

Flashbomb sat on the cloud with the rest of the Shadowbolts he was growing very impatient and Thunder sensed this. He trotted over to Flashbomb and looked at him. [colour=#FF0000]"What is bothering you?" [/colour]He asked him with intreague. Flashbomb looked up to Thunder, His eyes glowing stong with the curse. [colour=#0000FF]"Why dont we attack now? Why wait till night, they will be expecting us then." [/colour]He asked him. Thunder looked to the sun, He detested the feeling of its burning gaze. [colour=#FF0000]"We need to wait, the moon empowers us more and makes us stronger. The fog as well will cut their vision down to near nothingness." [/colour]He said to Flash. Flashbomb glanced twoards the Academy. He needed something to do....anything for that matter. Thunder sighed at how impatient Flash was, [colour=#FF0000]"Alright, we could use some recon and some new recruits to Join us."[/colour] He admitted. He looked to flash [colour=#FF0000]"But i must stay here to direct things. I will bestow you the power to curse others around you. Bring us back some good ones." [/colour]He chuckled. He cast his mindwipe spell but this time when it hit Flash It seeped into him. Flash felt a little dizzy but fine overall. He checked his hoof and saw that with focus he could channel the spell. He smiled happily. Thunder swift turned to Lightning Dust. [colour=#FF0000]"You can share the power with her as well. Think of her as your Aprentice." [/colour]He said. He flicked his tail [colour=#FF0000]"Now go...." [/colour]He said to them. Flash and Lightning dust nodded and dissapeard in the purple mist.

What if they were hurt? What if something horrible happened? With her nature, she would take the weight of their pain on her shoulders as her fault. She whimpered at the thought, and turned her head to the ground.

Marble was getting impatient. The cadet wasn't giving information, and Rainbow Dash seemed to just want to examine the gem. Marble grunted in frustration. [colour=#ff0000]"Do whatever you want. Just make sure it hurts them. I'm going for now." [/colour]He stepped out of the room, and wandered the hallways until he found himself at the entrance hall again. He sat down on one of the benches, and looked out the windows at the thinning fog. Images flashed through his mind. Mostly Lightning Dust getting her memory wiped, and seeing her cry. Some images of him attacking the Shadowbolts, and others seeing her with red eyes in their outfit. It wasn't a pretty sight, and made Marble begin crying again. He silently sobbed in the entrance hall, hiding his behind his hoof in shame.

Flashbomb and Lightning dust walked out of the Purple mist that had formed on the Academy grounds. They felt the sun burning above them through the outrageously thick fog. Flashbomb bestowed the gift of corruption to Lightning dust. They then ran swiftly through the fog. If they were seen their uniforms would be a dead give away. They swiftly ran through the fog again this time jutting to voices nearby. A class of cadets were being trained by instructors, Guards and wonderbolts flew above patrolling the grounds. Flashbomb saw a lone cadet and instructor isolated from the others. The instructor was teaching the cadet some lesson of sorts. Flashbomb nodded to Lightning dust. They slipped close by waiting for the right moment. The instructor told the cadet to close his eyes and focus on the lesson. Last mistake. Flash tackled the instructor and wrestled him to the ground. He preformed the spell and the instructor went limp. Lightning dust grabbed the cadet, He pleaded to be let go and began to cry. He was silenced by the spell. Flash and Lightning got up and watched the mist teleport them to the cloud that the Shadowbolts were on. Flashbomb glanced over to Lightning dust and ordered to split up. Flash ran off to the mist to find more victims.

Lightning dust trotted slowly through the fog. She looked left and right to try to find an easy target. She saw a window where the fog had thinned out. She trotted over to it not paying any attention to the window at all. She grew a little tired of the fog and wanted to rest.

Angel trotted into the room with the others. Lyria looked sad. "[colour=#800000]Look.. There right here, There fine[/colour]" He reassured her. He put his wing over her. He looked over to the cage "[colour=#800000]Why has she been imprisoned?[/colour]" He asked. Looking at CloudDasher

Lyria looked at Angel, and nuzzled into him. [colour=#800080]"O-Okay... I feel a little better now." [/colour][colour=#000000]She smiled, looking at CloudDasher.[/colour]

Lightning dust sat enjoying the rest, she usually kept quiet now that the curse was in effect fully. She pulled her goggles up above her eyes. They Were burning red, She turned her head and saw a pony sitting on a bench in the main hall. She felt something in her mind. The curse pulled up a faint Memory of her and The pony falling in love. She remembered the name "Marble......." Her head pulsed in pain as the memory awoke the Lightning dust inside. She attempted to fight the curse she didnt wat Marble to get hurt. The evil spirit in her did not yell or scream at her to keep quiet. It was more tame, And it slowly took control back. She glanced at the window again and saw that nopony was there. She trotted to the entrance and opened the doors. She trotted slowly to Marble and stood before him. She stared at him with her burning gaze. She listened as he cried and didnt say a word.

Somepony walked in the room. Marble didn't care. He continued crying into his own hoof, hoping that the pony would just trot away without noticing him. No such luck. He heard the pony walking closer to him. He (or she) stopped in front of him, and just stood there. No talking, no hugging, nothing. Marble looked up at the pony and gasped in surprise. It was Lightning Dust! He wasted no time in giving her a sudden hug and crying into her coat, not noticing her red eyes. [colour=#ff0000]"You're back... I'm so glad your back..." [/colour]He sobbed more, muttering surprised words and apologizing for not defending her better.

CloudDasher's Eyes went back to normal "[colour=#add8e6]Angel? Help me..[/colour]" She said. She let out a little scream and fell to the ground. She slowly got up.. Looking up her eyes were red.

"[colour=#add8e6]So your AngelSnapp? Wow.. I can see why this are has taken a liking to you..[/colour]" She leaned against the bars and gave him a seductive look "[colour=#add8e6]Y[/colour][colour=#add8e6]our very hot.. Why dont you just break up with Lyria and go out with me?[/colour]" She asked.

Lightning Dust stared at Marble she felt something spark in her heart, it was the lightning dust on the insde trying to call out to Marble. She let Marble hug her and she let her eyes glance to him as he sobbed. She felt a single tear well in her eye and roll down. She let her forelimbs wrap around him and embrace him in the hug. The cursed side of her let the Lightning dust from inside speak to him "its not your Fault.......Its not your fault....." The curse took back over and her eyes flicked back to red. Lightning dust leaned back and looked into Marble's eyes. The lightning dust inside flicked back for a moment allowing her eyes to change back for just a moment. " I love you Marble......I love you so much......dont forget that...." Then her eyes glowed back red. ( The curse over her is much more passive than the others, at least this one allowes her to speak." Lightning dust stared at Marble with those red glowing eyes. It seemed unnatural for her to be this loving to him when she was Afflicted but the words spoken were a hundred percent truth. The voice of Lightning dust screamed for her to walk away. She stayed.

Lightning Dust was forgiving Marble, trying to convince him that it wasn't his fault. He didn't believe it for a moment, but he loved the moment that they were embracing each other, helping each other out like the old times. They leaned back and looked at each other. Lightning's eyes were just as he remembered them. Beautiful yet fiery, and at the moment, full of sadness and forgiveness. But then, they changed. They turned red, and full of hate and evil, making Marble step back for a moment. They were no longer beautiful, but almost evil. He tried to think nothing of it. It was still the mare he loved, after all. [colour=#ff0000]"I love you too!" [/colour]He announced, as he closed his eyes and kissed her again, not paying attention to her eyes.

Blue streak sat in the cell with nothing to do, so he started to twiddle his hoofs. Then something sparked in his brain so he tapped flash bomb's shoulder .((oops))

Lightning dust stared at Marble with slight regret. She then felt a sudden shock when He kissed her. Emotions flodded left and right in her mid that quarreled with the spell. She closed her eyes and wrapped her forelimbs around Marble's neck. After awhile her Forelimb crept its way up to the back of his head. She kept kissing him with much love. The inner Lightning dust screamed for her not to hurt him. She pleaded and cried out but the Cursed side of her kept on. The forehoof began to Glow with red energy. The spell began to drain Marble's memory, She felt him jump but held him in the kiss. The spell kept draining Marble as his memory and control was lost.

Lightning Dust and Marble kissed for a while. It was only interrupted by an odd feeling on the back of his head. He ignored it at first, until it went painful. He flinched from it, his eyes open and looking at the ugly red eyes that were suppose to be his fillyfriends. He tried to escape the kiss, but she kept him in place, and Marble was not brave enough to hurt her. An odd feeling of forgetfulness went over him, as his world began disappearing. Why couldn't he remember his brothers name? Wait... He has a brother? Does he even have a family? The basics of his life were disappearing, as he fell into a seemingly dark pit. Marble has been corrupted. His eyes turned from a soft, chocolate brown to the harsh red of the Shadowbolts. He let off the kiss and looked at Lightning Dust, with a mischievous grin. [colour=#ff0000]"It's nice to see my host has good taste in mares." [/colour]He said, with an abnormally evil-sounding voice.

Lightning dust stepped back as the spell was compleated. She smiled slightly at the new Marble. The inner Lightning dust Wailed at the sight of Marble, He had been fully corrupted and now was a shell of his former self. The purple mist surrounded Marble and after awhile cleared. He had the Shadowbolt's attire on. Lightning dust's Corrupted side finnaly spoke for the first time. " Come we have much work to do." She said. She turned away and trotted to the exit with the corrupted Marble in tow. They took off through the fog.

Flashbomb was in a far field corrupting Cadets one by one, it was so easy with the fog covering his mission. He Found another cadet and Trotted slowly to him. The cadet turned and backed away in fear. [colour=#0000FF]"Seems like a little sheep got seperated from the herd." [/colour]He mocked him as he got closer. "Who are you! What do you want?" The cadet cried in fear. [colour=#0000FF]"None of that matters now. You wont remember anyways." [/colour]He tackled the cadet and drained him until he went silent just like so many before Him. The academy had now lost 1/3 of their pegasai. Flashbomb got up and let the purple mist take the body of the cadet. Another one for the Shadowbolts. He heard trotting behind him and turned to see 4 red glowing eyes. It was Lightning dust and to his surprise Marble. Flashbomb grinned evily from ear to ear. [colour=#0000FF]"He is a good catch..... Welcome brother...." [/colour]He complimented Lightning and Marble. They continued through the fog looking for more victims. Flash had adorned Marble with the dark power as well.

Rainbowdash sighed she would need Twilight's help on the matter, she couldnt figure out what to do. She trotted to Spitfire's office. She opened the door to find Spitfire working, She saluted to her. Spitfire chuckled [colour=#DAA520]"There is no need for that Dash, You are a wonderbolt." [/colour]She chuckled to her. Rianbow dash smiled and nodded. She put her hoof down and explained what she knew about everything going on at the Academy. After the lengthy speech she took a deep breath and exhailed. Spitfire sat there with her sunglasses pulled off now. [colour=#DAA520]"And you want Twilight Sparkle to come here to Examine the gem and use it somehow to fix this? These what do you call them? Shadowbolts?" [/colour]She inquired. Rainbow dash nodded in aproval. Spitfire sighed and rubbed her eyes. [colour=#daa520]"Ok fine, but she is gonna have to figure a way to walk on the clouds like she did at the Arial contest." [/colour]She sighed. She took out a piece of paper and wrote a letter to Twilight to come immediately. She tied the note to a falcon and sent it off. She dissmissed Rainbowdash, When she left she trotted to the window. She hoped that Rainbow dash was right.

Angel was taken by surprise When CloudDasher spoke out to him, Her eyes turned back red.. Angel stepped back. CloudDasher made a comment about how He was attractive, And how he should just give up with Lyria. He looked over at her.. Then turned to the cage. CloudDasher's Red eyes seemed as if they longed for something.. "[colour=#800000]CloudDasher, I know your in there.. Dont give up![/colour]" He yelled. He trotted closer to the cage.. CloudDasher still leaning against the Bar's. Angel saw that she was crying. His heart sank.. She was obviously fighting the curse as best she could. CloudDasher stepped back into the dark "[colour=#add8e6]Poor.. Poor CloudDasher. I think... Yes, Her heart is broken.[/colour]" CloudDasher hit the bars of the cage and Laughed. Her eyes a brighter Red.

Rainbow dash trotted into the holding room with Lyria, shadow, and Angel still in there. Cloud dasher was acting out pretty badly, Rainbowdash looked to Angel and the others. [colour=#40E0D0]"Ive sent for Twilight to come help us" [/colour]She said to them. She looked back to cloud dasher and Walked up to the bars but far enough not to be grabbed. She saw the sadness in Her eyes. Then the overtone of anger and evil in them. She sighed, She wished that Twilight would get there soon.

( You escaped with Flash and Lightning dust after we captured her. You are back on the cloud with the other shadowbolts awaiting further instruction from Thunder Swift.)

Swift looked out at the barrier. Her mentor was still there, staring out of it and pacing back and forth. She watched him for a while and shook her head. [colour=#0000cd]"Crazy Pegasus." [/colour][colour=#000000]She said as she turned around and headed back to the empty cells. She looked through each one, thinking, contemplating why these...these...Ponies hadn't attacked yet. Were there more of them? Were they attacking others as she stood there? Why were they even here? Yeah they said they wanted to bring back nightmare moon but why would the wonderbolts need to be gone? These questions circulated around her head. She looked to the left and recalled a story about the lunar guard, a special type of army made to protect and listen to Princess Luna. They all 'disappeared' when Nightmare moon was banished. Were these pegasi maybe the spirits of the Lunar guard? No that was defiantly a fable as it said there was another Alicorn with Celestia that helped banished Luna and Celestia tried to use some Time using Pony as leverage to make Nightmare moon stop. So who were these...Shadowbolts?[/colour]

Blue streaks couriosty grew. With the glowing eyes bright , he asked "is something bothering you?"

Time passed by as the pegasus's attempts at interrogation proved to be in vain. Cadets slowly dissapeared into the fog only to be corrupted by Marble,Flash and Lightning dust. Spitfire paced her office contemplating weather this struggle with the Shadowbolts would be their last. After 3 hours a purple and pink hot airballon broke the surface of the clouds. Flew through the barrier and landed next to the Academy. Twilight was greeted by the guards and escorted her to the main hall. Flash watched from the fog. He was trying to put together what a unicorn was doing here in the first place. He growled and followed them from a distance. When they reached the main hall Twilight activated the cloud walking spell and entered. Spitfire Greeted her, Rainbow dash ran over to hug her friend. They went to where the gem was Located. Rainbowdash told Twilight everything From the beginning to end. Twilight put her hoof on her chin. She activated the purple Aroura that eminated from her horn and Levitated many books Around her 15 in all. She then Levitated the Gem out of ots respective case which shut down the barrier which was quite useless because the shadowboltd could get in with the corruption spell. She Began her examineation and research into the gem, she asked for Privacy while she did this. Spitfire nodded but Assigned 4 guards to keep an eye on her so she wouldnt get hurt. The sun began to slowly set outside. It grew colder and colder. Flash watched from a nearby window with his burning red eyes. [colour=#0000FF]"The Gem The gem The gem!"[/colour] His mind screamed to him.

The wonderbolts were ordered the Wonderbolts to shut down and lock down the Academy when she learned that they had lost more cadets that day. They now had only 1/2 of the ponies they had before. Nopony was able to leave or go, Guards along with 2 wonderbolts each patrolled around the building and the halls.

Flash heard hoofsteps behind him and turned. He saw Lightningdust and Marble with 5 other cadets from corrupting earlier. Flashlooked them all over then glanced back to the window. [colour=#0000FF]"This isnt good..... the horned one is working to foil our plans. If we are to succeed we need to make our final assult tonight. Lets begone." [/colour]He growled. The mist took all of them and they dissapeared. Up above was a lone Pegasus. Cloud Chaser the light mangenta pony with a white spiked mane. She heard everything that was said. She flew to Spitfire's office to inform her of the news.

Lyria's heart stopped.

[colour=#008080]"Why don't you break up with Lyria and go out with me?"[/colour]

[colour=#000000]She stood there silently. She looked up at Cloud Dasher again. Lyria's tail twitched, and her hooves wanted to run. She turned to Angel, who completely ignored the comment. The words kept echoing through Lyria's mind, but she had to stay strong if she was going to protect Angel, protect herself, protect her friends. [/colour]

Flashbomb and the rest of the Shadowbolts had returned to the cloud that they were camping at. Flash trotted over to Thunderswift,[colour=#0000FF] "We have brought more reinforcements. They are not to strong but there are many in number." [/colour]He reported to him. Thunder swift nodded. He sensed something though in Flash. Inside of his mind Flash had awoken again and was quarreling with the curse. He could tell. Flash's eyes Flickered back and forth between Orange and red, Thunder Swift looked over the number of Shadowbolts he had at his disposal. [colour=#FF0000]"You three have done well."[/colour] Thunderswift mumbled. Flash looked up to Thunder and frowned, [colour=#0000FF]"But....." [/colour]He interupted. Thunder turned his gaze on him, It burned hot. [colour=#FF0000]"But what?" [/colour]He growled to the Blue Pegasus. Flash felt uneasy and glanced back to Marble and Lightning dust. [colour=#0000FF]"There is a Unicorn who as we speak is examining the gem...." [/colour]Flash mumbled. Thunder's mood went south,[colour=#FF0000]"What!? Why didnt you secure the Gem!?" [/colour]Thunder yelled. Flash flinched at this sudden burst of anger, [colour=#0000FF]"I...i...There were to many guards..." [/colour][colour=#FF0000]"It doesnt Matter! you had a chance to secure the gem and you Failed to do so! Right now She could be unraveling My plans.....I worked centuries on them and now They will be all for Nought because of you!" [/colour]Thunder roared. Flash felt anger Well inside of him [colour=#0000FF]"You placed all of your Plans...All of your planning on a single gem! Why hadnt you taken it on your own before you attacked the Academy and raised the Alarm? Now there is no way for us to get our Hooves on it because of you!" [/colour]He retorted. Thunder snaped and Hit Flash Across his muzzle sending him tumbling. [colour=#FF0000]"How dare you Talk back to me worm! Your the weak link of the Squad! You are A sad excuse of a Shadowbolt! A waste of Space! This plan will go forward without you and you will be left Behind!" [/colour]Thunder roared. Flash was so dazed From the blow to even Retort. The spell was knocked off kilter by the blow that Flash Regained Control for a moment. He threw himself at Thunder. Thunder countered him by grabbing his Hoof and Hitting him in the stomach. Flash Coughed hard and went quiet from the power of the hit. He was dizzy and dazed to a point of near Unconciousness. Thunder dragged him to the Edge of the cloud and held him over the edge. He released Flash and let him Freefall to his Apparent doom. Thunder turned around And glared at The rest of the Shadowbolts. [colour=#FF0000]"We attack in 10 minutes....Any of you have anything to say, Say it now! Im sure he would like some company on the ground!" [/colour]He yelled. He snorted and trotted away.

Lightning dust stared in horror, Her eyes flicked red andshe ran to the edge of the cloud. She saw Flash dissapear into a cloudwhile falling. She shed a small tear for him.

Flash fell down a large distance. He felt The spell barely holding control now. He regained conciousness but he was to dazed to move. He fell further and further to the ground below. He felt the wind rushing past him, the cold air chilled him to the bone. When he awoke fully he was 40 feet from the ground. He whipped around and Grabbed a fluffy lowhanging Cloud. He hit the ground letting the cloud take most of the fall. He rolled and lay face up coughing to regain his breath. He felt Betrayed, His remorse for what the spell made him do set in. The spell flicked in his eyes as the spirit that possessed him Cursed the name of Thunder swift. He lay there listening to the voice yell to the heavens.
