The Great and Powerful Trixie Lulamoon

As Trixie fell, her mind wandered back... back to when she was defeated once again by Twilight Sparkle... but shown true kindness, and how even the Princess herself had not looked at trixie with disdain when she was near. Trixie felt she could start over, put the past behind her, rebuild her career...

the air whistled past trixie's ears as she continued her little internal flashback, while she had planned to eventually earn herself the position as Court Magician to Celestia (wait, earn? She already deserved it, she just had to prove herself!) she knew that she would need to build up her reputation once again, So she headed to the magic capital of equestria - no, not canterlot, Las Pegasus! The glamor, the shows, the lights!

Trixie landed with a crash in the dumpster, filth covering her once lovely cape and hat, there was a crash as the lid fell on her head. Yeah... this was just what she had hoped for...

outside the dumpster the crowd laughed as two rather well-dressed unicorns gave the dumpster a hard kick and it rolled off the stage, trixie still inside...

-----

The pale blue mare stumbled out the back door marked "STAFF", her cape torn and filthy, along with her hat, as she headed back towards the flat she'd managed to rent with her pittance of a paycheck... as she walked she passed one of the posters for her 'show'

COME SEE THE LAME AND POWERLESS TRIXIE PERFORM FEATS OF MIND-NUMBING STUPIDITY!

FOUR SHOWS DAILY!

and the worst part was that despite the fact the shows had all been selling out she barely got enough bits to even pay for a place to stay and a pitiful meal... her life was the worst...

There wasn't much to be desired in the glitzy town of Las Pegasus when you had the bits to afford it. That wasn't particularly the case for Silverbolt. The cobalt blue young stallion was having a little vacation away from home, but it was on a bit of a budget. Wages as a courier weren't the greatest, but it kept him well fed and with extra to save for this very vacation he was taking. As he strolled past the venue, he noticed the poster and sighed. He felt a twinge in his heart for Trixie, she had changed for the better and yet it hadn't fully turned around for her. There had to be something he could do to help her in some way.

As he kept walking, he looked up from his little map of the city and gasped. Walking in front of him was none other than Trixie herself, her cape and hat covered in filth. He put his map away and held out a hoof to her as he said, "Trixie, wait!". He hoped she wouldn't take it the wrong way and think that he was going to laugh at her while he adjusted his spectacles. He began to formulate what he would say next as he waited for the mare to take notice and turn around to see him.

To clarify, this is Silverbolt as he is in the WoE canon.

Trixie cringed at hearing her name since it normally was because of somepony going to heckle her, or at the best, ask for directions or times for the "show" but she slowly turned her head, her silvery mane splotched with brown dirt and part of an apple core stuch in ehr tail where she had not noticed it yet "y-yes?" she asked, a little timidly as she saw a rather large stallion, a little fearful that he was either going to attack her or... do worse things... granted she still had her agony beam, which would incapacitate an enemy (provided they were ticklish...) "C-can I help you?" she asked, managing a faint smile

He watched her cringe and he fluttered his wings weakly. Upon closer inspection, he could see even more pieces of detritus in her mane and he sighed deeply. The slim stallion listened intently as she timidly inquired if he needed any help. Her faint smile was met with a much warmer one, in hopes that it would set her at ease in his presence. "Um, not particularly. I saw the poster and I felt the need to meet with you.", he began, taking another deep breath as he pulled the apple core out of her tail.

He moved closer, undeterred by the smell of the rubbish bin, before adding, "I'm a courier and I don't make much, but I think you may need this more than I do...". He slowly unclasped his saddlebag and removed a small pouch that jingled with coins. It contained a portion of his winnings, carefully earned with a few lucky hands at the tables. Fate had smiled upon him this night, and he felt he needed to pay it forward for this unicorn that had fallen upon extremely hard times. Silverbolt wasn't going to take no for an answer as he held out the pouch to her with a soft smile.

Seeing his reaction did calm trixie a little, though she flinched at him saying he felt the need to help her --- was it that obvious she needed help? The fact he just picked an apple core out of her tail made it painfully clear that it was... for a split instant, when he said he was a courier, she imagined going with him to some far away land, performing along the way at a different town each night, and if the locals didn't like her show, well she'd probably never be back to their town anyway! what a nice, if fanciful and ridiculous dream...

Then he brought out the bag of bits, this wasn't a dream, this was something very real, something that was being offered to her. For a moment she just stared In shock "I... I..." she closed her eyes and focused, calming herself, she managed a smile "Trixie cannot accept this, you earned it, it is yours, trixie did not... trixie has no right to it..." she said, sounding faintly strained to admit she didn't deserve *everything*...

He pressed forward with the offering, even as she cringed a little and stared in shock at the offered bag of bits. He chuckled softly as she regained her composure and attempted to dissuade him from giving her the bits. He shook his head and grinned, she still hadn't completely let go of her pride. "Well, what if I was to say that this was a hiring fee, Miss Trixie. Silverbolt is my name, there isn't going to be a written contract. Just that you agree to take this money and when my vacation is over, I'll return to my little cloud house and if you so choose, you may come along for the ride and travel with me.", he replied softly, his voice turning melodic and inviting.

He giggled at his proposition, tail swishing slowly. He couldn't help but add, "In this pouch is around 3,000 bits worth. I had a very lucky night, this isn't all I won but I feel that since fate has smiled upon me tonight...". He trailed off and with another warm grin, deposited the pouch in her hoof. "If you decline my offer, you can keep the bits, no questions asked.", he declared softly, his brown eyes gleamed warmly as he put his hoof out to shake on it.

Trixie looked shocked, was this pony a mind reader? Did he know exactly what it was she dreamed of right now? This was perfect and would not only let her get out of her contract with that casino but also perform at her own disgression again! True it would be much smaller venues, but she could work word of mouth and some merchandise here and there and still be relatively well-known just like before and it would smooth over everything that happened in ponyville --- even if she still defended that the ursa incident was _not_ her fault! Of course she had been made the offer to stay there, and in retrospect.... 'No! Trixie must stop thinking like that! Trixie needs to prove herself to be worthy of the title of 'court magician!' for the Princess!'

Trixie's spirits seemed to heighten as she stood on her rear legs and waved her hoof over the stallion's head, smiling "Funny, Trixie was sure she would find a halo up there" she said "Well, Trixie guesses she could talk to her agent at the casino and see if she can get out of her contract..." her eyes were twinkling too brightly though, despite her calm voice it was clear this meant FAR more to her "Trixie would be delighted to work for you" she smiled, finally shaking his hoof.

He kept smiling as she gave him a shocked look before recovering. He couldn't help but laugh as she reared up and waved her hoof over his head, her muzzle in a smile. At least she was in much better spirits than when the conversation had started. "Well, Miss Trixie, I wish I had one myself. But give it some time!", he replied playfully with a wink. He could tell this meant a lot to her by the twinkling of her eyes and he couldn't help but smile brightly as she spoke about talking to her agent and getting out of that shameful contract. "Well, Miss Trixie, it shall be a wonderful adventure together. I'm delighted that we could come to an agreement!', he added cheerfully as she finally shook his hoof on it. His grip was firm, but not overpowering as they shook and sealed the deal.

Now that the business was almost completely wrapped up, he giggled. "I think we should get you cleaned up before we meet your agent. My room is quite empty and quiet. I don't leave for another day or so.", he said softly, his tail flicking rather quickly behind him. The faintest tinges of pink appeared on his muzzle as he realized what he had offered her in kindness and good faith. No matter, it was a friendly invitation that anypony would make to one that has been through so much.

Trixie looked herself over, clearly a little embarrassed "Yes, Trixie is a bit... dirty..." she sighed "And her cape and hat are ruined... if trixie may be so bold, she believes she will spend a few of the bits on a new cape and hat" she smiled a little, she was not too overly conscious about her appearance, but she knew right now that it was rather undesirable "Trixie would hate to impose upon you, but trixie's... less than 5-star accommodations often lack hot water... or even water at all sometimes" she muttered something about 'less than 1-star accommodations' but smiled, clearly a little embarrassed about that as well...

He gave her an approving nod, that would be a good use of the bits he had generously given her. As she spoke about her living conditions, he paled. He had heard of such things being an occurrence but for it to befall Trixie cut him to the quick. His mind was completely made up, she would be sharing his room until he had to go home and they'd travel together to his home. "How dreadful! We'll get you all cleaned up and ready for the public in no time!", he replied, quickly recovering as he saw her still smiling. He managed to smile, turning towards his home and flapping his wings.

Trixie smiled as they walked and for a moment felt awkward as the pegasus' wings suddenly went up when he spoke of seeing her cleaned up, though relieved as they came back down. Of course she did not realize that pegasai wings were just like any other limb and if not moved occasionally would get cramps, it was only natural for them to randomly flap them a time or two like that. "You are too kind, How can trixie ever repay you?" she asked with a genuine smile, despite speaking in the third-pony still.

He looked over at her and smiled back. It was good to see her smiling for once. That was reward enough for him. As she spoke of repayment, he shook his head and laughed softly. "No need. Your smile and renewed hopes are enough for me!", he replied softly, his brown eyes twinkling.

It was a rather short stroll to the Golden Horseshoe Casino and his hotel. He entered with her in tow, offering the door pony a few bits and a smile. "We're nearly to my room, Miss Trixie.", he whispered as he called the elevator and hopped in.

her faint blush increased a tiny bit as he praised her, he could see as he watched her a strange mix of her true self and her stage persona that she used as a mask, her mind and feelings were in flux and she wasn't 100% sure what to say or do at the moment.

When they got to his hotel, trixie was shocked, this place was nicer than the place she performed in, much less lived! Of course she lived in a tiny one-room appartment that she had to use her own cape as a shower-curtain... and her magic to levitate it into place...

"yes... Trixie is... is..." she struggled to try and find some way to make this sound less unusual for her "...trixie was accustomed to luxury" she said "...I mean is! is!" she added quickly, her mask slipping, shown by when she spoke in the first-pony

He smiled and laughed a little as he could tell that her persona was cracking away. Little lapses from speaking in the third pony were a little clue as he entered his suite. If she was so accustomed to luxury, she'd really enjoy the fact that he had actually been running hot throughout his vacation. "Please make yourself comfortable, Miss Trixie.", he replied softly, his muzzle darkening. To be perfectly truthful, there were some feelings he didn't want to acknowledge. At least not until he got home.

Trixie's eyes darted around the room, growing large. The two-story room, the chandelier, the marble floors, the solid-oak table. she completely forgot to breathe for a moment, though she managed to simple smile "yes, it's a nice room, cozy, of course trixie has seen far nicer" she said calmly as if this was the bare-minimum she would expect, though the way her eyes looked over the suite, it was clear she was bluffing to try and sound far more impressive than she really was...

He nodded, well aware of what she was saying. This was one of the best suites in the building that money could buy. As he strolled to the bathroom, he tapped a hoof on the marble floor, a sauna door opened beside the bathroom door. "I'll be in here, Miss Trixie. Go ahead and wash up, order whatever you like from room service too!", he called to her as he entered the sauna.

The warmth and humidity of the sauna soothed him. It was a welcome respite from the stresses he had endured while at the tables. He had never realized how rough the gambling life could be. Fortunes won and lost with the flip of a card or the roll of the dice.

Once he was gone, the first thing trixie did was sit down hard and just stare, slack-jawed, for several minutes at the room "...I've performed in places less amazing..." she said quietly to herself, it was several minutes before she made her way to the bathroom, admiring the silk robes laid out, the high-quality towels, the expensive soaps, the solid-gold knobs on the shower and sink... she loked at the floor, wondering if she should even be walking on it without boots of some kind, fearing she might scuff it. She took her shower and when it was over she used her magic to drain as much water off as she could and stood thee a long time, just letting the water drip off her as she continued to try to dry herself, not touching any of the high-quality towels or robes, feling they were far, far, far above anything she deserved. When she finally was mostly dry she walked back out and sad down in the floor, not even the least magnificent chair was squalid enough for her... if she was really going to stay here she would have to remember to get a stool from the store or something so she wouldn't have to sit on the floor... completely ignorant of the fact that the stallion likely had left the door cracked enough that he could see out and see her incredibly humbled actions...

As Silverbolt sat in the sauna, he indeed had a window of sorts to see out of into the room. He watched Trixie just sit on the floor, her humility quite apparent. He smiled, she really had changed. Well at least the pony under the mask had changed. He sat in the steam for a few minutes more, feeling the last stresses sweat out of him. Smiling tenderly, he left the sauna room to meet with Trixie some more.

He didn't bother to grab a robe himself, but he was relatively dry. His wings were always a problem though, he spread them as he sat on the floor with her. They dripped onto the marble floor as he gazed at Trixie with his fogged up glasses. "Trixie, you are welcome to sit in a chair. I only sit on the floor because of my wet wings.", he explained quietly, not really noticing that his coat had an exquisite luster to it from being in the steamy sauna.

Trixie barely even flinched, though had she not been a stage performer she would have jumped quite high when he popped out and showed that he knew what she had been doing. She managed to keep her air of sophistication, or perhaps snobbishness, depending on your perspective. "Trixie does not care for these chairs, their fabric is too clinging on the tail and mane" she said, though even as she said that, her voice wavered just a tiny bit, she was already starting to dislike lieing to this pony... one of her flaws - the closer she became to somepony the less she could lie and hide behind her mask... one reason she had to start traveling again...
