She can normally be found wearing an insulated grey vest with a thick, stiff collar or a black, fitted undershirt with her sponsor's logo emblazoned on the shoulder. It gets cold high in the sky!

Unique Traits: Sun Drop's magical talents trend toward precise control and metaphysical manipulation. Her most common use of her specialty is altering the lift, drag, and heading of her cloudboard, which is one of the few reasons she can do well in an mostly pegasi-dominated sport. The unicorn is also comfortable standing on her hind hooves while using her forelegs for balance, again due to her sport.

History: Sun Drop's foalhood was unremarkable. Born in Canterlot, she did everything one would expect. Raised by loving parents, went to school, received acceptable to good grades. She would occasionally be lightly chided for staring out the window at the sky rather than listening to lessons, but it wasn't much of an issue.

Her life was so typical, so normal in fact that the young unicorn seemed to be bored most of the time. What fun was arcane manipulation when she couldn't soar through the sky like her pegasus friends? Her teachers just didn't understand. When questioned one evening over dinner, Sun Drop revealed her hopeless wish to her parents. After sharing a surprised look, the older ponies glanced at each other with a smile and a nod, telling their daughter never to give up on her dreams even if they seemed out of reach.

The next day they took the filly on one of Canterlot's famous hot air balloon rides. Thinking that her parents were simply trying to appease her with the grounded pony's version of flight, Sun didn't pay it much heed... until the rather enthusiastic guide loaded piles of gear into the basket with them. Long polished boards, jackets, packs? What was this?

Cloudsurfing, her father informed her when asked. A sport normally reserved for pegasi, but earth ponies and unicorns had been known to successfully ride the skies. The enchanted boards were nearly lighter than air, providing an extraordinary amount of lift and making clouds akin to almost solid surfaces when using one. Obviously parachutes were required, but the guide was a cloud surfer trainer himself and knew all the caveats of safety in the wild blue yonder.

Taking the family to a spot populated by thick, flat clouds the instructor spent the day showing Sun Drop how to ride. The exhilarated smile never left her face. From that moment on, she saw how she could achieve her dream and spent days maintaining her starter equipment, studying weather patterns, and educating herself. She would go up whenever she could, just for the feel of the wind ripping through her mane.

Eventually, her instructor told her that she could be good enough to compete in the junior boarder's competition. It would be tough, against ponies that had likely grown up with the sport, but she truly seemed to have the drive and ability. With a confident grin, the unicorn bumped hooves with the older pony and replied that she was there.

It WAS tough for the filly, but in the end she managed to take second place behind a dark grey pegasus named Showstopper. The success only spurred Sun Drop on, and her determination and glee resulted in the winged cutie mark that has marked her flanks ever since. Both herself and Showstopper went on to become sponsored boarders as they grew older, by competing brands, which has only deepened the rivalry between the two.

The mare now spends her days traveling around Equestria, joining competitions and occasionally exhibitions. She is understandably well-traveled, and has taken in interest in local cultures wherever she may end up in a given month. Cliche maybe, but she's living her dream.

Character Summary/Personality:

Sun Drop is a fun-loving, spirited mare. One moment calm and brooding, another excitedly joining in a conversation, she has quite the force of personality. While proud of her success, the unicorn is more interested in the fact that she can finally be among the clouds rather than reveling in financial stability and brand recognition.

In her spare time she enjoys trying out new techniques, singing karaoke, maintaining her equipment, and listening to melodic metal. She's also somewhat of an adept cook, specializing in pasta and bread dishes. Admittedly, without her sport she would most likely lie around listening to music and slurping spaghetti while reading cloud surfing magazines.

When in the sky, her attitude changes to one of competitive determination. She knows she's good, but there's always someone better out there and she strives to push her limits when she can. While she enjoys the thrill of flight with a devil-may-care outlook, it would never do to carry that to the point of negligence. A unicorn miles above the ground isn't the safest thing that was ever attempted, after all. With this metaphorical balancing act going on every second of every flight, Sun Drop immerses herself in the sheer rush and test of skill.

She is attracted to friends with healthy self-confidence and a sense of humor, often going out to have a mug of cider just to tell jokes and laugh with her compatriots. Likewise, she is also rather off-put by chronically mopey creatures, firmly believing in the credo her father provided: Dreams are never out of reach.
