Parry said nothing, did nothing as if he was watching a movie he just followed them and escorted them and did his duties and kept all of his feelings to himself now that they had made it to the rooms he heaved a large sigh and muttered.

"Thank god we don't have to spend another darn hour on that metal flying machine!!!"

Parry's eyes had big dark bags underneath his eyes for he had not been able to sleep on the plane he was not used to those contraptions, just the thought of them made him shutter, but he then got over it and then began to unpack a little bit.

Later on as he unpacked his clothing he looked outside and he felt a bit homesick but than he scolded himself.

"Damn you Parry remember that you will never return home"

He muttered those words to himself for his life was always a traveling one so he pushed those thoughts aside and settled into bed and began to read his favourite book.

Hours later he went to go outside on the deck to view the city of Tokyo and he was a little impressed he was used to small towns but Tokyo was bigger than a small western town with farms and small convenience stores here and there to Parry it quadrupled the size of a small town in America.

Later on as he gazed at the sky on his deck he wondered what the others were up to, he had only seen Midnight and Doc walking up the hall across from Parry's room and they both seemed to be becomeing very fond of each other, Parry snorted a laugh he thought it funny that the quiet girl and Doc would be good friends or maybe even loving partners but Parry then remembered Blackwing going to a room right beside his he decided then to just relax and smoke his cigar on the deck.

Midnight tried, and failed, to keep a smile down when Doc said he could hang out together. Using him heavily to lean upon, and her crutch as that. She didn't like having to rely on others as a general rule, but that was mostly because she couldn't afford to show weakness, or risk getting beaten to a pulp. But Doc was different, he cared for her, not as a commander, but...a friend? Was it friendship? She had to assume it was, this was beyond just a squadmate looking after the other.

She watched as Doc seemed to scan the room, making sure it was safe. Was he worried something might be after her? She doubted anything would be stupid enough to ambush her at night, but the thought was what counted. She simply watched as he placed himself on the other side of the bed.

"I'm ok, well, as good as can be expected. Surgery tomorrow should be fine, and I doubt anything is dumb enough to fight me. I may be crippled, but i'm not out" She said, before reaching forwards and placing her arm on his shoulder "What about you? Are you ok?..."

Doc smiled softly as she touched him saying

just an old habit, sorry.” He said referring to checking out the room.

He took a deep breath, under her hand Midnight would feel his muscles loosening as he laid against the back board in a comfortable position looking into her icy eyes

“it's been a long time since I was o.k, not needing to worry about missions, advancement, patients or anything else. … I almost forgot what its like … to relax and be normal. To not need to worry or fight”

his eyes went up and down her body but then back up to her eyes

"for a long time now its just been constant, stress, work. someone or something coming down on you in one way or another."

He looked to her “do you? ..know what I mean?”

Midnight was one of the few people who probably did know how he felt. To finally exit the battlefield and leave all the stress and pain aside to, regain your humanity almost; if only for a moment

Midnight just listened, keeping her safe a wall to hide her emotions. She knew all too well what he meant by that, all to well. Year after year of deployment, always moving, always fighting, that was what had been drilled into her from day 1. Never to stop, never to relax, never to rest. Every day fearing it might be may be your last, the fear that can get to you that eventually consumes your mind.

"I know....I know too well. It's been....far too long since I did this...relax, or even talk at that.." She chucked, before looking at Doc and pausing. He looked very relaxed, leaning like that. Part of hre wanted to lie down, but there wasn't much else...except on him. 'He was a friend' she reminded herself as she let her crutch go and moved up on the bed, till her back was leaning against his arm, just on his right. She let out a breath, half expecting him to move away from her. This was the most 'physical' she'd been in years, but, she felt like Doc wouldn't mock her for it.

"But it's what we need to do. We need to do this, we are the military after all. What other choice do we have?"

Doc  watched as she rested on his arm, he was quite enjoying this and after she settled in with him moved his arm forming a pillow with his bicep for her.

But he also listened to what she said

It took him a minute to think up what to say, but it was a comfortable silence as they sat there together

yeah, your right about that,  only 1% of the population of most nations have what it takes for the military, even fewer have what it takes to be an special forces. If we don’t do it who will? Hmm” he said with a bit of a soft giggle

“I’ll always be proud of who I am and what I’ve done.” He said waiting for a moment

its just such a difference; … they say the reason why stress related illness is more common today than it was a couple years ago is because of  faster vehicles … let me explain

he said wetting his mouth and relaxing even more with her

back then they would ship off on boats and slower planes, it gave them all a moment to stop and talk about what happened to them, to everyone. But today you can be in the field and be back in the civilian world in a nigh, no time to really talk about it or just let it settle in.

Ive seen a couple guys lose it from ptsd, other mental illness. But ive seen even more who didn’t, because they had some one, something; a family ,friends. Some one who’s there for them and knows what its like”

Doc stopped and let out a sigh and looked to Midnight

he wasn't sure what else to say, he knew they both felt the same way and it was a connection no worlds could really describe.

Midnight fell into silence as she simply listened. What Doc was saying, was all too true. So few were willing to do what was necessary, and many preferred to be ignorant to that world. They lived the average day, unaware of the actions that people like her and doc did, not caring about their deaths and victories. Out of sight, out of mind.

"And now look at us, we're talking it out. Less than, I don't know, a week ago, I was out on a mission. Now i'm in a hotel, surgery tomorrow talking to you. I think I know what you mean, and talking...Well, I usually keep everything to myself. I'm a lone wolf, a lone sniper, everything I used to do, alone. Never talking, never stopping. Everything I do, I do alone"

She went silent, sighing. "Someone....something. What about you Doc? What do you have? A girlfriend waiting for you back home? Maybe a family?" She was very curious, because like he said, there was something important that helped drive people. Midnight didn't have one, so what drove him?

Doc let some air escape his nose that might have been a laugh. He turned to the side

no … nothing romantic; …anymore” he said with a bit of bitterness

just enough to let her know that he tried it at one point but it didn’t work out.

He relaxed his face looking up to the ceiling and said

got a big family, 2 sisters, mom; that never shuts up. Cousins, aunts and uncles. …

I missed my best friends wedding because of my first deployment. He lives in Louisiana now happy; wife and kids. Haven’t seen him in person for ages ….

Doc felt really bad he squeezed midnight, the remembering the fact that he had friends yeah but they would never truly be there for him when he needed them. he held her close and said

I usually don’t like people, I haven’t let a lot of them in. and even those who I have; its just been hard to keep in touch.”

Doc let out a big sigh, he said “been moving around so much anyone, switching divisions, jobs. Sometimes it feels like everywhere I go; everyone I know is just temporarily there, … see my family on holidays but that’s about it.”

I ehh, muhh” some of mignight’s long hair got caught in his mouth and he gently got it out with his fingers

“sorry, ..sorry but don’t know what I got, except … maybe you” he said looking own at her straight into her eyes

Midnight frowned looking at Doc's face as he spok,e he sounded like something bad has happened. But what? Rejection? While curiosity was consuming her, it wasn't fair for her to ask. Hearing him talk about his family, she giggled quietly in his arms.

Just listening to Doc, only part of her know what he'd experienced. Once she had joined the military, she had basically cut off all contact from her family and dedicated herself to her job. It was unforunite that he had missed his family, just another sacrifice they had to pay for their line of work, next to the constant threat of death looming over their heads.

Hearing doc make a werid noise, and something touched her hair. She glanced up, realizing that her hair had gone into his mouth. Her long hair was against most regulations, but her special operations meant she could bend a few rules and she loved her hair the way it was. Still, it had gone in his mouth, she could use a shower later, and should probably apologise for it.

She expected many things, but for Doc to say that what he had to count on..was her?! Was that even possible? They'd just met today, and yet he would say this?

"M...me? Why me, we just met.." she said, part of her hoping, part of her feeling it is ignorance consuming her "I mean, surely I haven't been whats kept you going...r-right?"

Doc’s body turned red, he was clearly very nervous at what he just said

I- uhhh ya know,  … what I meant was we relate to each other. “ he took a deep breath trying to calm dawn; he stopped making eye contact with her and looked around the room the way a scolded child or dog would.

yeah we haven’t know each other long but … I definitely feels longer. We know what its like to be out there, How it feels; how much it can suck”

He slowly brought his gaze back to her,

and here we are talking about how we feel being there for each other. In a way yeah you are what’s keeping me going  at least while we have known each-other.  And because of that I’m proud to call you my friend.”

Having said that doc clearly felt much better he looked down upon himself then back to her

Parry continuously gazed at the ceiling fan whirl around as he relaxed in his bed.

It was still dark out and Parry hadn't even went to bed yet Parry tended to like star gazing and relaxing on his bed listening to silence it calmed him.

Parry raised himself off of the bed and went into the kitchen to grab a drink but instead headed out onto the porch.

Parry settled himself onto a chair and contemplated how the day went then he couldn't help but wonder what the next day would bring for him and he also wondered how the others were doing.

Parry sat there for a while until he saw the moon at its highest and then he decided to go to bed.

What Doc was saying was making sense. Sure they'd barely known eachother, however, she felt very comfortable. But what he was saying was very valid, though, a..friend? He just calls her a friend? Just a friend, was that...was that all he saw in her? A tiny flash of disappointment came across her face, before she battered it back.

"A...A friend...Yeah..We've been through so much, and it was just recently. we were fighting for our lives.... I used to just fight alone, and that's all I needed. But now, now its different. Now I have people to turn to..I..I have you..It feels strange, and weird. But it's the truth, I don't know how i'm meant to feel, act, anything like that. Honestly, it's unusual, but...I think I might be able to adapt"

Doc could feel a bit of disappointment and spite in her words. But despite this she basically said she accepted him

Still something what she said bothered him. He shifted a bit making them both a bit more comfortable. He narrowed his eyes a bit trying to think about what to say.

She said she accepting him and had was his friend; but her tone was very snipey.

“its ok I’m here for you. I know it can be hard to …open up; I have a hard time myself. … it’s hard”

he turned to her again this time the tips of there noise touching, he gave her an accidental Eskimo kiss and craned his neck back a bit with a blush and a nervous giggle.

“I don’t know how; but I just feel closer ... to you.”

he cursed himself internally not knowing how to put his feeling into words. Here she was a beautiful woman who he connected with, knew not only what he felt like in the field but what it was like to be in his world.

they were the same- connected. But he couldn’t find the way to say it, to say the least.

Midnight listened as he explained that he didn't know how to open up. Words, words were needed to do that. Words were something she was useless with, so she felt like she couldn't talk properly. Compared to many, she was a social exile. Opting to be alone, but today, being with Doc, made her feel differently. But not different enough, he saw her as just a friend. Part of her shouldn't be disappointed, but she was. Because, not only was he a friend to her....

That's when she realized that her noise and his own were touching. She felt the air leave her lungs, shaking slightly. Her face turned a very bright shade of red as she turned her head away, trying to keep herself calm and composed. She felt her mouth start to dry up as she tried to think how to react, but drew a complete blank.

"I.....well, ummmm...." Her eyes started roaming around the room, but avoiding looking at Doc "Well....I, I think I know what you mean, its just...." She couldn't think of the words, not being right next to him like she was. Part of her hoped felt like, if she was on a battlefield, she'd actually be better at this. but no, she was lying next to, and in the arms of, Doc, someone who she could barely control her own ranging emotions for.

Doc watched as Midnight had a mini panic attack at there Eskimo kiss

It was probably the cutest but also the saddest thing he had ever seen. Seeing her like that was adorable; but also she was in stress.

Doc knew at that point that he would never be as bad as she was on the inside in terms of mental scars and being able to communicate.

But he would be there for her

He watched her slowly bringing her closer as she stumbled with her words.

till he brought her in close letting her rest on his chest. Holding her snug and tight he said “its o.k … its o.k I know; I know how you feel.”

doc’s disgruntled heart burned softly as he held her it made him happy: happier than he felt in a long, long time.

He softly whispered “no more words. There useless anyway.”

just by holding her letting her know how he felt was something that he probably never would be able to describe.

Doc intended to stay with her till she fell asleep and go to his room and shower off ; but he was starting to feel sleepy himself.

Midnight watched during her scramble for words as Doc slowly seemed to get closer and closer, and wasn't sure if it was her mind tricking her or the truth. She blinked as he got closer, and her heart leapt slightly in her chest. That was, until she blinked and found herself resting against Doc's chest. She could hear his heartbeat, and felt safer in his arms than she'd felt in her life. She honestly felt like nothing could touch her, nothing could hurt her, and all that mattered was Doc that was holding her. She moved her arms, slightly awkwardly, around Doc, hugging him.

She closed her eyes, maybe he was right. Maybe sometimes, words were no longer needed. His arms keeping her warm and she felt her eyes becoming heavier and heavier. She took in a deep breath "Doc...tonight, juust...." She yawned, resting her head lazily against his chest "just...don't leave..." she said right as her eyes closed, her body curling up as she started to embrace sleep.

The past 2 days had passed in a blur, and everything was different, so much was new. And Doc, Doc was the best thing she'd gotten since all of this had started. She feel asleep with a large smile on her face.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the Morning

Midnight could hear, a noise...A noise, ringing..Ringing...a phone? Why was a phone in her room...? Opening her eyes, she realized that she was in a hotel, and started to move for the phone, before freezing. In the bed with her...was, Doc?! She felt a cold sensation scream through her as fear grabbed her tightly. Did she...spend the night with him?! She couldn't believe it, and she stood up and tried to back up, but she got her feet tangled up on the cover and tripped over onto the bed, nearly falling off the bed but managing to recover by falling right next to Doc, her face red with embarrassment "Doc...why...you...me....the bed....." She couldn't remember much from the last night, they'd arrived in the hotel...then that's all she could recall. Had...Had they....

"What happened? Last night...like, did we..."

Doc awoke to the commotion! The phone; and midnight slamming herself into the pillow next to him

He stood there with wide eyes just a bit shocked before sitting up and annoyed picked up the phone

In a slightly angry tone he said

room 205” the other line went off

“Doc Bearing? Awesome; hey your bags came in we got them at the front desk; you can pick them up anytime you want”

Doc looked at midnight in the eyes trying to help her calm down; before saying into the phone “great; ill be there soon”

Doc hung up the phone and prepared for some awkwardness

“o.k you … don’t remember last night?” doc was hurt by that. He pretty much let her come closer than he did anyone else in his life before and she didn’t even remember!

In a sad tone he stood up and said

“no; relax we didn’t. we just rested. … they have our luggage ready if they sent you anything ill get it. ... ill give you some privacy”

He slowly made his way to the door and said

remember you have surgery on your legs today. So … ill be back in a minute to help you.”

he then left and closed the door. He didn’t know how he felt about the whole situation he told himself “well she was exhausted last night so that’s probably why.”

Still it hurt him

He walked over to Parry’s room and knocked speaking just loud enough for someone beyond the door to hear him

Hey they have our stuff … you awake?”

Meanwhile in the Post anesthesia recovery unit.

A young nurse stood over Blackwing; gently adjusting his I.V fluid. She watched over him feeling sorry for the poor man. He had been in surgery all night and while he would have full function of his shoulder;  it was a grueling and probbally pain full process

One look and she knew she would have to be careful as he could awaken with shock at any moment. She proceeded with caution having worked with many marines, solders and others with ptsd before

Midnight could see what looked up, upset? Was Doc upset she couldn't really remember last night? A wave of relief came over her as he revealed they haven't done something she would have regretted, but she couldn't remember much. She watched as Doc left the room, before lying back on the bed.

What had she forgotten? She closed her eyes and tried to remember last night, what had actually happened? She remembered walking to the door, entering with Doc and then..the bed, they lied on the bed and talked. As she lied still on the bed, she could hear the conversation she'd had with Doc the previous night, now realizing why he looked upset. They'd gotten so close, and she had just told him she'd hadn't remembered what had happened! She took a deep breath, fearing that now Doc didn't like her for remembering.

She wanted to go after him! To tell him she remembers, to tell him she cares! Looking at herself, she was still wearing the same uniform as last night, and quickly got up, completely forgetting about her crutch, and making her way to the door, but within a step, she felt her leg falter under her and she collapsed next to the bed, looking straight at the door, hoping it wouldn't be too long till Doc came back.

Doc waited a minute and shrugged assuming Parry was either in the bathroom or still asleep.

He walked down the hall and jumped down the stairwell. After coming to the bottom floor he entered into the lobby where someone stood with a few sea bags on the ground.

Doc walked forward and nodded for them, the desk sergeant nodded and said

“yup here are your bags”

Doc saw his old bag which he recognized as his, he scooped it up and signed away for it.

brining the bags he excitedly head back up stairs glad he had some of his comfort items. He made his way back to midnights room and opened the door to see her on the floor!

“%$@”!” he shouted as he dropped his bag and jumped over to her

you o.k.? say something?” he said feeling her pulse turning her over on her back” he pulse was 80 by his count, which was normal. Upon feeling this he relaxed a bit knowing she would be fine but was still concerned about why she was on the floor

Midnight had closed her eyes, beating herself up in her head. How had she been so dumb? Doc's face kept flashing in front of her, the look of pain he had on, like she had stabbed him in the back, and in a way, she had. They'd opened up properly to each other, and then she had said she didn't remember any of it. How could she have been so dumb? She just hoped that when Doc came back, she'd be able to explain to him, how she felt.

That's when the door opened, and she looked up at Doc to see him rush over to her. She was extremely confused to the point where she actually didn't react at all.

"Doc..I'm ok, i'm fine, calm down" She said quickly, placing a hand on his shoulder "Nothing happened, I just forgot I needed a crutch to walk and tried to go after you...."

She let out a deep breath, looking straight at him. She bite her lower lip, trying to find the right words or actions to fit what she was thinking "Listen...I remember, last night..I'm so sorry, I just, my mind was sleepy. I remember all of it..." She moved her hands, gently cupping his cheeks without thinking "I'm sorry..im sorry.." she muttered, repeating herself several times getting quieter and quieter until she was no longer audible.

SHE REMEMBERS!” Doc’s brain got filled with joy he blushed as she touched his cheek

and he smiled a big grin picking her up and setting her on the bed

“its o.k, hey its all-right. I don’t blame you; we were both pretty exhausted that night. Its o.k there’s nothing to apologies for” he ran his hand thru her soft hair and giggled saying

“did you know that sleep drunkenness affcts 90% of the population? I get it too pretty bad sometimes. In fact in the united states you are not legally responsible for the first 10 seconds after you wake up so” He couldn’t help but have a bit of a goofy smile as he stood over her

he was happy, it was the kind of happy it seemed only she could give him

Midnight smiled when Doc didn't get upset or angry or annoyed at her, but instead, picked her up and set her on the bed, and ran his hands through her hair. If it was anyone else, she'd of killed them, but not Doc, never Doc. Not after everything he'd done for her, how he made her feel, happy, excited, safe. She couldn't imagine ever having to hurt him, to fight him. She wouldn't, she couldn't.

"That's...a weird fact" she said giggling herself and feeling a silly smile working onto her face. Doc's smile was contagious, she couldn't stop herself. "But thank you..I was worried you would hate me for it. I was beating myself over what I had said when you left, I thought you might never come back. I thought......" She shook her head "Well..that's all over now. Did you get your bag?"

Doc nodded and gave her a gentle scratch on her scalp.

“mhmm” he stood up and went over to his sea-bag and brought it over. He listed everything he took out

some civilian clothes,” he took out a few pairs of clothing and 2  jackets one a nice black leather one

sweet: my phone” he said taking it out and setting it on the bed

my ka-bar” he said taking out the sheathed knife which was over a foot long

my patrol pouch” he said taking out a med kit with a broad strap for wearing as well as webbing to attach wherever it was needed. Which he set on the floor

he dug out some of his different camo uniform and the boots with it, setting them on the floor

“some gear” he took out some pouches and a camel pack

and that’s it” he said now that his bag was empty he sat back on the bed with her and rubbed her legs

how are you feeling … ready for your surgery?”

Midnight made a purring-cat like noise when Doc gently scratched her head, she actually put her head into it while it was happening, she actually like it. It felt weird, but she liked it.

She watched as Doc just took out his stuff, she didn't have anything much. She had a credit card, but that meant she might need to go shopping after her surgery, else all she had was the clothes on her back. She looked at Doc as he rubbed her legs.

"Well..I'm not excited, but it's nothing to be nervious off. They said the doctor was really good, so i'm fine really. I'm not too worried Doc. What about you? How are you?"

During the night, Black had layed lifeless, not moving at all as they fixed his shoulder up. He had taken worse shots then this before, though he never forgot the pain of it. The people who were working on him would have been able to hear him silently taking to himself in his passed out state, though the words would be unhearable. Once morning hit, Black gained some senses back, starting to wake up. It took a good minute before his eyes shot open, and he sat up straight. He looked around, noticing he was in a operation room. He noticed the nurse their. Black looked at her, staying silent as he raised his other arm to feel his shoulder. It was bandaged up, and the bleeding had stopped. In a seat nearby, in the same room a girl was sitting down, having fallen asleep, it was their pilot from earlier.

She stayed here all night?

After he thought that, he looked at the nurse.

"Can i leave?"
