Roleplay Type: Canterlot Chronicles

Name: Discord, the all-powerful god of chaos! Though just Discord will do.

Gender: Male

Age: As old as Celestia and Luna. He doesn't really remember the exact number, nor does he care.

Species: Draconequus

Eye colour: The whites of his eyes are yellow (most likely with insanity) and his pupils are red.

Character colour: His head is a sandy colour, while the rest of his body is short, dark brown coloured fur.

Mane/Tail/Other: His mane is a short, black mohawk running down his neck, as well as shaggy white eyebrows and a short beard. Being a draconequus, Discord's tail is that of a snake, dark red in colour with a spot of white at the tip. He has one claw resembling that of an eagle, the other a lion. His legs consist of one being what seems to be an equine and the other a dragon. In addition, Discord bears antlers of two species of deer as well as one pegasus wing and one bat wing.

Physique: Tall, slender, and almost awkward.

Residence: His true home is unknown to most ponies, even Fluttershy, though it is guessed to be on the borders of Equestria. However, Discord will spend his days living wherever he likes, mostly in Ponyville or Canterlot.

Occupation: The bringer of ch.... friendship and fun! All in the line of defense for Equestria, of course.

Unique Traits: Being the spirit of chaos, Discord has the ability to make just about anything happen at the snap of a claw or paw. He can shapeshift, summon just about anything, and even lead ponies that are the best of friends to turn against each other.

History: No one knows the true origins of Discord, just as no one knows the true origins of the two Princesses. However, according to ancient legend, it is believed that he was around before the Princesses took Equestria into their hooves. Some believe he comes from the pits of Tartarus, while others think he is the result of a mutated Windego that came about during the times of struggle for the three tribes of ponies.

As the story of Hearth's Warming goes, the tribes come together in the end, combining their forces to create what we now know as Equestria. The weather was perfect, the crops were being grown, magic was becoming stronger, and times were just overall good for everyone.

Except for Discord.

According to legend, while the tribes were suffering due to the Windegoes, the young Discord was lurking in the shadows, watching. He enjoyed this excitement. Sure, it was bad, but it was also interesting, entertaining, chaotic, even. But now that things were coming to normalcy, Discord was bored. He wanted excitement. He wanted fun.

And if it was fun that he wanted, it sure was fun that he got.

This is the first known presence of Discord in Equestria. He used powers he never knew he had, turning the natural green and blues of the land to crazy, confusing pinks and purples. Houses were turned upside down. The span of day and night ranged from a couple hours to just a few minutes. All races of pony suffered. And Discord loved every second of it. He was a ruler, and the whole land was his playground! What more could he want?

However, little did Discord know that the end to his reign was coming, and coming quickly. One day, while enjoying a light shower of blueberry pie overhead, two ponies approached him. One was white with a mane of all colors of pastel, like the happiness of day. The other was a complete opposite: dark blue with a mane and tail representing the starry night. Normally, Discord would brush aside any ponies that confronted him, getting his giant pepper shaker and letting them sneeze themselves away. But this time, he couldn't help but do a double take. It wasn't their odd appearance that surprised him, but the fact that they were alicorns. A pony bearing both a horn and wings was unheard of in this period of history, so Discord decided to pay attention. He didn't let his guard down though. Just humour these two for a little while and then defeat them.

The white one spoke first, claiming that he would be defeated, right here right now, with the Elements of Harmony. Wait, what? Discord despised the elements, as they went against his nature. And as such, he hid them in the Tree of Harmony inside the Everfree forest, a place where nopony would find them. No one was even supposed to know what they were! How did these two have them?

But he still didn't let his guard down. They probably weren't the actual elements. Yes, that was it. Discord laughed at them, taunted them like he usually would. Even when the two alicorns opened their bags, pulling out six crystal stones, he still laughed. Those fools! They wouldn't defeat him!

And so, by the time he stopped to pay attention, it was already too late. It couldn't be...they were! The real Elements of Harmony! It was too late; there was only one thing left to do. He threw his bag of "sunflower" seeds at them, which were really the seeds of the most chaotic plant in Equestria. Since those elements were away from the tree, his plants would come and take over.

But that was all he could do, and was turned to stone for an eternity. It was the most boring time of his life for Discord, watching all the disgusting harmony spread about as the two alicorns who he now knew as Celestia and Luna took over. It was 1,000 years later that finally had his chance. His stone was getting old, even the smallest bit of chaos could set him free. And sure enough, his moment came as he saw a fight between friends happen before his very eyes. His statue cracked, and Discord let out a chuckle for the first time in a long, long time.

And so, Equestria was turned into a state of chaos yet again thanks to Discord. But this time, he knew the Elements wouldn't stop him. How? Stupid Celestia had sent the six bearers right after him. All it took was a few hilarious mind games to break them up, turning them grey against their elements. So much disharmony, so much fun! Discord was at his prime yet again.

However, much like before, he was confronted by these ponies he had tormented. They were under his spell, how would they defeat him? In fact, they had already tried once to and failed. Why were they trying again? He couldn't help but laugh as they got their 'elements' ready. But, like deja vu, it was too late. With a scream and a taste of the rainbow, Discord was imprisioned in stone once again.

It was only for a matter of months this time though, and when compared to 1000 years, it wasn't that much. But this time, the draconequus was freed willingly. Princess Celestia had wanted him reformed. Ha! How would she manage to reform the Lord of Chaos! By the kind, animal loving Fluttershy of course. No one would have thought it would work, but it did. Fluttershy used the power of friendship on him. And yes, Discord will admit, Fluttershy was his first true friend. The first pony that actually trusted him. It was a nice feeling.

But due to this 'reformation,' Discord's acts of chaos were limited. Oh well, better than being trapped in stone again. For the next while, he lived his life in the awkward stage of reformation, trying to become good instead of chaotic. But his first real test of this new outlook was the rise of Tirek. Celestia had wanted him to stop him. Discord found it weird being needed for the good side, but... well, he was needed for once!

And so he set out, finding Tirek and confronting him about his evil ways. But this meeting didn't go exactly as planned, as Tirek began to convince him of how fun it was when he was evil, and how he could go back to those times by his side. Discord wouldn't lie, that sounded great! He immediately switched sides to join him, helping capture many ponies...even his friends. But he didn't care.

But it wasn't much later that Discord realised Tirek tricked him, using the draconequus as nothing more than a tool to get stronger. And when he was at full power, Tirek merely tossed him aside and ate his magic. This couldn't be! He realised the difference between true and false friendship at the moment, knowing Fluttershy, Twilight, and the others as real friends. And by giving Tirek's pendant to Twilight as a symbol of this, the last step was taken into defeating Tirek.

Discord lives his life on today, much more good than evil. But he hasn't totally ditched his old chaotic ways. He is Discord, after all, and always will be.

Character Summary: Discord is quite literally the embodiment of chaos and mischief. From his crazy appearance to even crazier magic, it's no wonder why most ponies don't think so highly of him. His mind is practically that of a foal, coming up with the most random, imaginative ideas possible and then taking them one step further and bringing them to life. Chocolate rain? Dancing buffaloes? Roads made of soap? All that and more right at the snap of a finger.

He will do anything, anything just for a good laugh. Discord enjoys all sorts of games, but only the ones that work out in his favour. His version of the games he plays is pretty twisted actually, and aren't fair at all. However, if it's fun for him, Discord will be in no matter how the ponies around him are feeling. Which is probably why Discord is widely known as a master of pranks, being able to things like literally sending ponies to the end of Equestria and back just for a laugh. And that's just scratching the surface of his pranks. Saying he overdoes his fun would be an understatement.

It's pretty obvious that Discord doesn't know much about how to interact socially with others. He's very greedy, and isn't much of a fan of a give-take relationship. And when something doesn't work out in his favour (getting turned to stone, for example) Discord will get pretty sad or angry. But luckily for all the ponies of Equestria, he's learning. Fluttershy and the rest of his friends are there for him, to teach him what it's like to be kind and caring, instead of just mischievous. Though some might say he's not quite there yet. But as Fluttershy would say... baby steps.

But this doesn't mean that Discord is totally unkind. In fact, he can teach ponies rewarding lessons, even if he doesn't show it. Subtlety, he can work these morals into his pranks, and that pony may just end up becoming better because of it. Maybe the friendship lessons are starting to rub off on him.
