Roleplay Type: WoE

Name: Fabled Archives

Sex: Male

Age: Young Stallion

Species: Unicorn

Eye colour: Pale, icy blue

Coat: A healthy and tanned cream, as if he spends most of his time outdoors in the sun.

Mane/Tail: Both are onyx black in color, with the very tips edging towards a pale blue.

Physique: Tall and lean, Arc's athletic build bares more resemblance to an Earth Pony than a standard Unicorn, and even less to a pony that pursues scholarly pastimes as his main passion.

Residence: Chained Upon the Mount, officially known as Castle Highwind of the Kastrot noble House Ea'thr (Ay-thur). One of the great castles to reside along the noble-held islands of Kastrot, Castle Highwind is infamous for the two great effigies guarding its entrance gate, depicting two Unicorns forcibly bowed towards the ground, their horns wrapped in unyielding chains.

Occupation: Technically none, as he is the scion of the influential and wealthy house Ea'thr. Unofficially, Arc is an avid historian and lore seeker, taking a notable interest in the history of nations that formed primarily through the use of magic. He is also prone to delving into the mythos and magical lore, whether or not they are accompanied by any actual proof.

Cutie Mark: Two scrolls, with one baring the symbol of his House.

As he was expected to carry on the family tradition of researching and inventing new spells, Arc spent a lot of his foalhood studying in the castle library, soaking up what his scholars and teachers gave him. Like many colts his age however, Arc was full of energy, and spent his fair share of time playing outside in the courtyard, and even beyond the castle walls at times. Though his father was a bit perturbed, Arc maintained his studies with ease, allowing him more freedom than most studious scholars were given.

It was an excursion outside the walls that led to Arc's meeting of a young filly, a commoner who lived on the Isle owned by his family. She was fascinated to meet the young noble heir to the House Ea'thr, and gleefully asked him question after question about Castle Highwind - what it was like, where had it come from, how long had it been standing. And while Arc could answer some of the questions without batting an eyelash, the filly's wonderment over the history of the Castle itself left him figuratively scratching at his head.

Incensed that he could know so little about his own home, Arc stormed back to the castle library, though this time he bypassed the philosophical and research texts to delve deep into the historical records of Castle Highwind - some factual, some pure myth. Arc read everything he possibly could, fascinated with each page that revealed new and intricate history, layers upon layers of strife, betrayal, love, and reward, all of it leading right up to that moment. He was hooked.

It was sometime late in the evening that Arc was abruptly and magically pulled from his reading nook, the Account of the Lineage of Ea'thr from Intrinsic Value I still clutched in his hooves as he veritably flew through the halls of the castle, ending up at the hooves of his aggravated parents who'd shown up in his room to bid him goodnight. Arc was undeterred however, babbling excitedly about everything he had learned and how it might all be used to further their family. So caught up was the young colt in his excitement, that he actually failed to notice the cutie mark now adorning his flank. His parents took note however, and that instance would prove the turning point in familial plans for their young son.

History:

Born into a family famous for its magical prowess towards spell inventions and applications, Arc was expected to follow suit in pursuing the future of the family, pushing it towards greater success and fame, and for a while he did. Arc attended to his studies like a fish to water, though he still retained a youthful drive that had him taunting his siblings from the tops of trees and ruining his clothing in the creek beds. Still, despite his energy, Arc made for an excellent scholar, even at a young age, and seemed to be falling into the family tradition just as planned.

However, the emergence of his special talent - a passion for studying and learning from history - soon changed all that. Although his father was displeased to see a deviation from the norm, even he could not deny the way his son's eyes lit up at a new historical discovery, or how excitedly he spoke of whatever new facet of the castle he had uncovered. His father eventually relented, on the condition that Arc continue his studies into the philosophical nature of spell creation and invention. To this, Arc agreed - even if he was more prone to delving into the past to look towards the future.

Studying from a castle atop a single Isle was not, however, the most conducive of learning environments, and though his parents would have been content for him to remain at home, Arc was not. With nearly unlimited resources at his disposal, the older colt abruptly decided he needed to travel and see the world, learn more about the cultures and lore and histories all around him. With little more than a goodbye kiss for his mother and stallion hoofshake for his father, Arc set out from Castle Highwind, jumping straight into his quest for knowledge. A quick pit stop in Equestria to gather some more information on his destination, before a ship ride had him arriving far east in Unyasi, land of the Zebras, and from there, his adventures really began.

Fabled Archives has been living in Unyasi for nearly all of his adult life now, his wealth sitting ready at the wayside while he adopted a more natural immersion among the native inhabitants of the land. Where exactly he is at the moment, or what exactly he is doing, nopony can say for sure, as he fell out of touch with his family and friends from the Isle. He will, undoubtedly, return back west to explore and study Equestria - though unbeknownst to both himself and his loved ones, he already has.

Character Summary:

Far removed from the stereotypical scholar, a passing glance at Arc would have most ponies believing him to be some thick and empty-headed vagabond suited for lazily lounging along the beach. Fabled Archives is a relaxed and laid-back type of pony, who seems to take a very casual, "go-with-the-flow" type of approach to life, rather than worrying about tomorrow. Arc is spontaneous and impulsive, never one to pass up an opportunity, and he has no qualms making fun of himself. Genial, out-going, and humorous, Arc knows how to relax and have a fun time, never letting the little things in life bother him. He is sometimes teasingly sarcastic to those he's just met, slightly flirtatious when around a pretty flank, and an all-around affable and agreeable pony to have around.

Juxtaposed to his passion for studying history and other scholarly activities, Arc is a very physical and athletic pony, more akin to an Earth Pony than a Unicorn. He didn't bat an eyelash at performing manual labor in the fields of Unyasi, nor living the life of a wild tribes-pony rather than spend his wealth for comfort. His physicality extends to his own body, which bares a few tattoos reminiscent of the designs from the tribe that figuratively adopted him in Unyasi. Arc is at home running around in the mud as he is covering in fine silks, and he does both with equal amounts of respect.

Despite his physicality however, Arc remains a scholar and a noble pony at heart. His passion for history has not lessened over the years, only grown, and it shows in his travels and research. Arc can often be found reclining in a chair with a large tome, or languidly reading through a scroll, completely at odds with his appearance. The Unicorn can be content to study for hours on end, though the need to stretch his legs will inevitably get the better of him. Arc's thirst for historical knowledge is what carries him through his traveling, always hungry to know how and why and when.

And while he is usually more down to earth than many nobles, Arc also doesn't turn his nose up at his heritage as the scion of House Ea'thr, knowing its use. His noble birth has left its mark on Arc, in more ways than one - he retains an inherent sense of privilege that is evident in the small actions he undertakes, lounging across a couch like a lazy cat or strolling into a building as if he owns the place. Still, Arc loves his family and lineage, so much so that he incorporated the sigil of his house into one of his tattoos designs. Fabled Archives is the firstborn son of House Ea'thr of Kastrot, and nothing and nopony will ever change that.

Overall, Arc is a genial pony, and a historical scholar despite his seemingly thuggish appearance. It is easy to get into his good graces, harder still to fall out of them, and Fabled Archives can become a life-long friend to those that return the same.
