I fondly remembered the use of leitmotifs to set the scene and focus on a particular character; it generated an interesting impact, especially in action sequences. Sometimes I will visualise the thread I'm participating in and play it out like a movie or anime, and sometimes this features a musical theme. What music would you attribute to your characters? If it is a regular scene then I'd play one of those bouncy, happy, and simple kinds of music. If it's a romantic scene I add a full orchestra. If it's an action scene...heavy metal!
