Meeting of the Minds (ATTN: FiniteZero)

Once she realized that he wasn't paying attention, her face lost all emotion as she turned to fhe design she had finalized. She stared at the piece of paper intently, her mind shifting into overdrive as she considered any possible fault or issue. Once that was covered, she shifted to enhancements.

Suddenly, red flags began appearing in her mind at a very rapid pace. "Oh." She stated, though it was without her usual charm, happiness, or really any inflection whatsoever. She shelved the idea away for later; A horrible, horrible weapon could be made from this.

The idea both excited and terrified her.

Well... the ring could easily be adapted to make a better version of what they used to completely stop magic temporarily... that was a project for later, however. For now, he was looking for any flaws in the design. He was no expert on magic, but it was certainly mechanically sound. It might not work if the surge was too powerful, since it could only vent so much at once.

Oh well, that one was ready for prototypes and testing, so he set it aside for now to work on the other idea. Would it even work to shock someone out of a surge? It worked with regular spells, but those required effort on the unicorn's part...

Wrench Works thought it over, and began working on two seperate schematics simultaniously. One for what she set out to make, a way to stop surges, and the other a last-resort non-lethal weapon.

Though as she thought about it with her free mind, it could be very dangerous in certain contexts. But, she wanted to push the limits of her design, see just how capable she was. It was a flare of excitement she had been missing in quite a while.

Rabi was working over his design furiously, erasing parts and drawing in new ones. This was designed to be something small, something that could go unnoticed until it was to do it's job. The main problem from what he could see was that it worked better with two ponies involved. One as the subject, and the other to handle and operate the remote to activate the chip. Another big problem was that he didn't know if it would even work to stop surges, but at least it could be used to stop actual spellcasting.

Maybe have some sort of launcher for it, to get it on the pony... but then again the horn is not a big target. Perhaps he could increase voltage and use it to shock ponies into submission.

Either way, he was happy to work on this sort of project, discovering his own solution to a problem. Most of his work seemed to be very restrictive, building something according to the client's guidelines.

Pencils whirred, graphite being placed and pulled off of paper as Wrench Works further refined her designs.

She was getting a large amount of range from these devices. The one of the two she was more willing to share didn't need any further refinements, so she set that pad down while she doubled down on her secret. It was not much longer that she had that one to a worthwhile state as well. She turned to watch Rabi, waiting with unlimited patience.

Rabi had about a dozen half-finished designs for things only partially related to the original problem laying around near him while he focused on the one design left for what he was supposed to be doing. A few moments after Wrench looked over at him, he put down the pad as well and looked over at her, blinking in confusion.

"Yes? Did you say something?" He asked, not at all sure why she was staring at him. He used his magic to collect the partial designs and threw them into a loose pile of other such designs. Obviously he got sidetracked like that quite often judging by the pile, but it was smaller than it could've been due to him often going back and revisiting them.

"I was waiting for you to finish. I have a suitable design." Wrench said, levitating the design that looked like a sort of bulky remote. "This is designed to cancel out the magic in a pony from a range of thirty yards. I do not yet quite know what side effects it might have, but I already worked out ones that might pose a danger to them."

Wrench noted the designs, and figured that he was a different sort than she was. Less focused, more experimental.

"I have refined the ring idea, it's designed to automatically cut off the magic flow when a surge happens." Ravi replied as he took a closer look at her remote. He wasn't exactly sure how this remote was supposed to work, but it was certainly an interesting idea.

Wrench Works turned the idea over in her head. "A good idea, if it were a pony prone to sudden and unexpected surges. Not a very common problem, but there are known cases." She looked at his plans closely. "The mechanics are sound. Should work nicely!"

Not very common? He figured unknown surges were more common than known ones, that was the whole point. If you knew about it, there were steps you could take. Sure, one could recognize the signs of your magic going out of control, but that was different from a surge in most cases. Oh well, she thought his design was solid, so now it was time to move on.

"Shall we construct our prototypes?" He asked, looking over her design more closely himself as he awaited an answer.

"Of course." Wrench Works said. "I brought my tools for that purpose."

She trotted to the saddlebags she had brought and levitated several tools out. "I trust you have the resources for this endeavor."

"Sure, sure. I probably have the parts laying around somewhere." Rabi said, trotting back into his lab area and rooting through the piles of mechanical supplies to find what he would need to build his stuff.

"Just take what you need, there's not much organization to them." He called, poking his head back out to see if she was coming or not. After she had finished smoking, of course. That had not ended well the last time he let that happen in his lab.

Wrench Works capped her pipe and put it away once she was sure it stopped smoking. She confirmed her own tools, then after going through the schematic in her mind she thought about the tools she needed that she did not carry with her.

All set, she entered his lab. She catalogued each item in the lab, figuring which items she could use for her invention and which ones she would have to improvise around. She hummed; While she would have enough to create the desired effect, she was missing key components that would allow her to direct it.

She filed that information away for later. The proof of concept was most the most important factor. Her horn lit, and she grabbed each tool and material she needed at once, getting to work right away.
