Roleplay Type: W.O.E.

Name: Shadow Scribe

Sex:  Stallion

Age: Younger Stallion

Species: Unicorn

Eye colour:  Orange

Coat: His coat is a lighter shade of gray, almost silver.

Mane/Tail: His mane/tail are a mix of red and bronze.

Physique:  Shadow Scribe is a Unicorn who possesses a more muscular frame. His height makes him short, about the size of your average Unicorn if not a bit shorter.

Residence: Traveler

Occupation: Arcane Researcher/Arcane Scientist

Cutie Mark:  His cutie mark consists of a blood red star surrounded by a dark rainbow of sorts. This cutie mark represents magic, specifically the potential for the more exotic brands of magic he has. His cutie mark also symbolizes his desire to learn new kinds of magic, and master them all. This also has two swords stuck into the star, symbolizing his mastery over combat magic. This cutie mark was gained by Shadow Scribe under the mentoring of his uncle, Rune Writer.

Unique Traits:

- Has an interest in magic other than Harmonic types.

-  Respects the Alicorns, but dislikes their decision to ban Chaos and Dark Magic for the most part. Another part of his dislike for them stems from his opinion that ponies are too soft these days, and if a real threat came they’d all be helpless.

-  Books on Runic Magic:  Books on an ancient form of magic known as "Runic" which involves inscribing items with symbols, or kanji or runes. These are kept on his person at all times.

-  Has learned how to ‘shape’ magical energy into a variety of offensive and defensive constructs he can use.

- Dark Magic: Shadow Scribe is just learning how to cast dark magic, and is an amateur at it.

- Chaos Magic: Shadow Scribe is just learning how to cast chaos magic, and is an amateur at best at it.

- Rune Magic:  Rune Magic is a process by which items can be "enchanted" or "imbued" with special properties. The duration of the enhancement to the item depends on the quality of the item in question, the materials and also how much time he has to prep the engravings. In addition, it also depends on how much magical energy he can stuff into the carvings onto the items. This is something he is almost an expert at. Rune Magic is a variation of the school of "enchantment."

Inventory:

Magic Cloaker: A ring he wears on his horn that is enchanted to do two things. One, the ring stays invisible and can barely be felt by him. Two, the ring makes his magic appear to be harmonic to those he is around, although Alicorns could likely detect the cloaking and disarm it. This feeds off of his mana reserves however.

History:

When Twilight was chosen to be the personal student of Celestia, Shadow Scribe was but a little colt and barely able to do much. Irritated that they couldn’t claim the spot for him as Celestia’s prized pupil, his parents decided on the next best thing. His dad knew that his brother was skilled in the arts of combat magic, a field that most ponies neglected.

Of course since Rune Writer lived outside the Crystal Empire and didn’t have a magic shield protecting him, that was to be expected. Loaded onto a train, Shadow Scribe was sent all the way to his uncle’s mountain.  There in the mountain, Shadow Scribe was pushed hard by Rune Writer, his uncle. His uncle pushed him when he was young and didn't allow him to make many in the way of friends, because Rune Writer believed friends held you back.

Forcing his nephew to hone his skills day in and day out was how Rune Writer trained him.   Most of each day from 8-6 was spent with intensive lessons. Those lessons were either in magical theory,  direct application of magic or sparring sessions. Sometimes the lessons even involved hunting the snow variant of Timberwolves.

By the time he had reached early adolescence he had become particularly gifted at combat magic. The spell Devastation was an old spell which had a lot of power. Via use of the spell,  he was able to survive his encounter with the Frost timberwolves. There were only ten of them, but the spell killed them all. Injured he was taken by Rune Writer back to the mountain, and patched up. It was on that day that he got his cutie mark.

Following the events of that day, Rune Writer deemed Shadow Scribe ready. Giving him books on runic and a couple of other styles of magic, he sent his nephew back to Canterlot via an untested spell matrix. Suffice it to say that the spell matrix worked, and he arrived safely. Since the spell Devastation could only be cast once in his life, Shadow Scribe decided he needed to do more research and soo a choice was made by him. A lot of deliberating was done, but now he's on his way to Ponyville to move there.

Character Personality:

Shadow Scribe is a Unicorn who has difficulty believing that "Friendship" is actually worth more than a load of malarkey, but with time could be convinced to make friends. He's a very disciplined Unicorn and tries to avoid showing emotions, or doing public displays of affection as such are viewed by him as little more than "worthless" in the long run. Shadow Scribe loves to study magic of all kinds, and has developed an interest in both the fields of Chaos Magic, and Dark Magic. Combat magic, but not the kind practiced today also holds some interest for him. This is because they are fields of magic that nopony else has studied suitably in his opinion which makes him more than a bit curious about them. There is a lot of anger, envy and resentment that Shadow Scribe feels towards the Princess of Friendship Twilight Sparkle, fostered by his uncle and his parents towards her as he believes he was supposed to be Celestia's pupil.

When he is around other ponies, he'll laugh it up and do his best to get along with them. But this is only a disguise because he doesn't want to arouse suspicion about himself with other ponies, as he knows his interest in the ancient magics of darkness, chaos and many others would make some ponies concerned, or lead to them reporting him to the Princesses and that is trouble he doesn't want. Eventually he could be persuaded to stop his pursuit of the other forms of magic, had he any knowledge of friendship based magic.

Shadow Scribe has never once partied, and doesn't know the importance of partying either. Like a few other things, he's started to believe partying to be a waste of his time and that of every pony else. Shadow Scribe believes there is no "dark magic"  and that any pony can wield magic without it being dark, or evil so long as they are not evil themselves. It's this ideology that makes him want to study magic more and more. He's also determined to unlock the secret of "immortality" and make it his own.

Shadow Scribe also has respect for the Princesses, but also a bit of aggravation. For he believes ponies to be too complacent, and unprepared. Given there’s Five Alicorns,  he’s a bit concerned about them eventually being captured or coerced to turn against ponies. Who could stand against them then? This concern of his sometimes keeps him up at night. Shadow Scribe also appreciates the arts,  including both music and painting. In his spare time, he’s been known to draw some.

Character Summary:

Shadow Scribe is very interested in the magical arts, all things related to it actually.  He's a bit jealous of Princess Twilight Sparkle, well more than a bit jealous actually. This jealousy was cultivated by the influence of his family.  He also loves to create new spells, and research. Furthermore Shadow Scribe loves exploring new places. A bit stubborn, he doesn't quite understand the need to have friends… yet. Eventually in the future, he could. Shadow Scribe also has an eventual long term goal to open up his own school of magic, once he's mastered everything magically speaking. Of course he knows that will take forever, but he's willing to take the risk. Another desire of his is to unlock the secret behind immortality. Shadow Scribe also loves to draw, and paint… and discuss art work with ponies. While he may know a few exotic magic types, he's still learning how to use those magic and is an amateur at most of them.

Ok I've had a chance to do some reviewing on this :) I'll jut make some suggestions for editing:

unique traits:

take out, "unlike most unicorns" in the fourth trait as that is boxing in other characters.

inventory:

for the use and recharging of the blade perhaps give a time frame in RP life instead of a number of posts.

that's about it :)
