Mane/Tail:  His mane and tail are cut short, his mane styled in a flat top, and his tail kept as short as possible by him.

Physique:

 

An older pony, Rune Writer doesn’t look that imposing for a Unicorn. In fact, due to old age he’s lost a lot of muscle, and looks decrepit. Still, he carries himself with pride and does his best to make himself look better than he’d otherwise look. His mane and tail are exceptionally well groomed, and he tries to keep himself pristine.

 

Residence: Travler

Occupation: Traveler, Caretaker of Magical Artifacts.

Rune's cutie mark represents his research, and talent for magic that is outside the normal umbrella of Harmony, and his love of crafting magical weapons as well as creating new spells. 

 

Unique Traits: Rune Writer has an arsenal of spells that he has created, and also an array of magical weapons, and magical equipment that he’s guarded for years. This includes a lot of magical weapons, spears, staffs, axes, swords, cannons, and a lot of older tomes as well as many magical relics.  

 

There’s one particularly powerful magical item he’s made called “The Crown” that allows him to shoot Alicorn level blasts of magic from his horn every now and then. The crown is made out of Orichalum, and has a Blood Ruby in it. The crown takes about ten seconds (a post) to recharge after each use.

 

There's also an anti aging enchantment he's put on himself, that slows his aging down. This also prevents "old pony" diseases, and mental health diseases as well.

 

Rune's cast another spell on himself, and this spell enhances his physical strength, reflexes and endurance to the levels of a youthful Unicorn. Rune has also researched Alchemy and knows how to do some of it, having supplies for such on board his wagon if his relics, and magic aren't enough for a task.

 

Rune also has access to dark, and chaos magic that he's trained with. Furthermore Rune also has knowledge of how to make potions.

 

 

History:

 

Rune Writer was a Unicorn who was fairly normal originally. Going to Celestia’s school for the Gifted before Twilight was even born, Rune Writer tried his best to excel. Knowing that several generations of his family had been part of the Royal Guard in the past, Rune saw no reason to break the tradition, and with pressure from his family, he felt that he had no choice but to enroll in the Royal Guard. Unfortunately every family has one member who doesn’t carry on a tradition and such was the case for Rune. Rune failed the basic training needed to become a guard. Shamed, his dad cast him out of the family, and told him he’d have no place in the Scribe Bloodline.

 

Rune realized on that day he needed to do something else. But with a cutie mark of runes, what could he do?  Eventually he tried his hands at crafting a magical item, a spear. This spear was imbued by him so that it’s tip could channel elemental power, and also cast a “drill” spell when spun and thrown at an opponent. The spear was also imbued with the power to charge with fire, earth, air, lightning, darkness, and poison.

 

With the spear made,  Rune was welcomed back into his family with open arms. Given a cache of runic, and other enchanted items that were made by previous generations, Rune Writer was named the Keeper of the Scribe Collection.  Over the years, he continued to collect magical relics and items. Eventually he’d craft a final magical relic, the Crown. With it made, he tested it before getting a letter from Shadow. After getting the letter he’s made his way to Ponyville, in a huge heavy armored wagon that he’s constructed, and enchanted.   

 

 

Character Summary:

 

Rune Writer is a Unicorn who is protective of Pony Kind, even if he knows he can never play the role of a “hero.”  A craftsman of magical relics, Rune Writer quite enjoys making magical relics and devices for himself.  As the caretaker of the Scribe Family’s magical relics, Rune Writer is protective of the items, and will very rarely share them with other ponies. Rune is also unsure about Shadow, or whether or not he’d be a good successor. Furthermore, Rune is a pony who is willing to use dark magic, and chaos magic when he needs to fight an opponent if his collection of magical relics, and spells aren’t enough on their own.  

 

Yet, Rune is willing to rely on Harmony and his collection of magical relics most of the time to blend in with ponies, as he doesn’t want to put any at unease with him. With that in mind, Rune tries his best to blend in. Some part of him has a natural wonder lust, and loves to explore. Magic is somewhat of an obsession of Rune’s and he loves to talk shop about magic, and to come up with new spells. In addition to that he loves to create magical relics,  even though he knows he can’t hold onto all of them forever.
