Twilight Sparkle-
-No, Princess Twilight Sparkle-
-DOUBLE no, Princess Twilight Sparkle Ruler of Equestria-
-Looked out over the small fair she had been invited to. For the most part she was busy trying to get a handle on how to run a full national government in the day to day manner it required. Luckily, the positive spirit of friendship and harmony she had helped foster over the years was such that even when she wasn't having to come up with the ideas for them, Equestrians made sure to showcase that they were the best and the brightest when it came to being the brightest and cheeriest in the world. Within weeks of her coronation a number of parties, fairs, and festivals sprung up across the nation. Many of them wore her name on them in celebration and she signed off on most of them. The one in Canterlot however did not wear her name.

It was simply called The First Annual Friendship Fair, held by the Canterlot Society for Harmony. It was a small affair to be held in one of the smaller markets of the city, with a couple of vendors and a place for dances and social gathering. A stage for some invited speakers. Humble event for ponies with ambitious goals over the long term, but she believed it was for the best that they start small and work their way to something grander. What did catch her off guard was the invitation. Not that it was sent, of course. Most of these events were inviting her. What shocked her most of all was that she accepted for no reason other than it sounded nice, it sounded small, and it sounded like a good way to get out of the castle.

And so Twilight flew herself over to the location where the Fair was taking place, smiling as she came in for a landing. She didn't know what to expect except a good feffot from those who were running the Fair and that was all one could really ask for. A few stalls were out with books and pamphlets offering friendship related activities. An open-doored building to the side had room for dancing and drinks, and some light dance music drifted from it. In the open area in front of the stalls milled a small but growing collection of creatures, many of whom looked up to the incoming Princess with excitement as she landed, making her presence in the Fair known with a gentle landing.

A silver colored griffon named Felicity flew in and landed on the outskirts of Canterlot, reaching into her saddlebags and pulling out a flyer for the 'First Annual Friendship Fair.' Felicity couldn't believe that there was something so exciting happening near her home of Solstice Heights. . .  well relatively near, it was still a hop, skip, and a jump from home but it was at least a lot closer than other similar events. Felicity took a deep breath in and held it for a moment hoping to calm her wildly beating heart, she's never been this far away from home before especially without Mom and Pop. She's a big bird now and she has to face things on her own from time to time, plus Mom and Pop wanted her to find some good friends to make and explore Equestria! Just the thought of this being her first step in a long journey fills her with pride and fear. Pride that she's finally doing what she always wanted to do, but so fearful of what the future may hold for her as well. Slowly she blew out her breath and puffed out her chest feathers. "I'm a big bird I can handle whatever life throws at me" she thought to herself and started to walk towards the city.

As she got closer to the festivities she was amazed at all the different ponies bustling from stall to stall. Felicity was taken aback for a moment for she's never to anything bigger than a foal's birthday party and that was moons ago! The griffin felt herself deflate after seeing, to her at least, a lot of ponyfolk "S-So many folks around here. I never knew that it would be this busy for a first time fair" Felicity muttered to herself and looked around in awe. Colorful banners were up, music was thrumming through the air, the smell of the city's delicacies, all new to this small time griffin. New and exciting, but mostly terrifying. "What if they don't like me?" she pondered to herself walking through the stalls and festivities "What if they don't think I'm friendship material? Does my breath smell bad? Oh sweet jumping beans what if my breath smells!". As she mindlessly wonders through the festival wondering of everything that could go wrong she noticed a very beautiful purple alicorn make her descent and gently lands. Felicity finds herself enamored with the pony, being a small town griffon she doesn't know much about royals and the works, but Felicity could tell that there was a regal air about her but also a very friendly one. "Oh gosh, how awesome would it be to get a friend like her. . . " she muttered to herself thoughtfully.

If there was one part of her job that she equal parts adored and felt overwhelmed by, it was the meet and greet aspect of it.. Not because it was hard. Indeed, it was one of the easier tasks she was most inclined to participate in. Not because she was concerned about how she would appear to them because she had been Princess long enough to grow accustomed to it. If a book needed to be written on the subject of royalty greeting the citizenry she would be the one to write it. She also enjoyed meeting every creature. One of the things Celestia told her was that over the decades and centuries that it could become easy to lose touch with the ponies that made Equestria their home, as well as the myriad creatures who would in their own way come to love it in equal measure. She never wanted to lose that connection, so she treasured every interaction.

But on the other hoof, she had to have the same energy with the ten thousandth pony she met as the first, or else she felt she was devaluing them in comparison in some way only she could truly ascertain. And the feeling of shortchanging her little ponies, her fellow Equestrians, or those who came to call it home or simply friend, was one that hurt her more than a thousand dangerous spells. And so as she met with everypony who had a desire to do so at the Fair she made sure to put her best hoof forward in every last interaction. She asked questions, laughed with them, pointed out interesting strengths, and tried to make everypony feel important. Sometimes it was hard. Other times it wasn't. Either way she was happy to be here but when the crowd started to slowly but surely fragment she was able to take a breath and be herself.

Not that she would ever be fully alone, but her novelty wore off in time. She used this time to finally peel away and start to enjoy the fair. It was a simple affair for a fair, fairly freeing up afeared critters reared by those who did not know the magic of friendship as well as they did now. They could not possibly have forgotten her presence but in time they also came to understand that the point of the fair was each other. New connections, new friends! And for Twilight, the sweet smell of a new treat, a flour based Halva stand operated by a Saddle Arabian. Twilight purchased three bags of the treat- one for now, two for later as the Alicorn Hunger demanded- and turned to see somecreature new. A silver colored griffon seemed to occupy the space only with great trepidation and concern. She looked like she needed something, and Twilight knew what she could offer.

“Hello there Miss...?” Twilight asked as she approached, her hoof out for a shake as her wing curled up one third of her Halva and offered it in kind. “Would you like some of this? I have yet t try it but it smells very good!”
