Character Summary:

April Showers was born during a gentle spring storm in Manehatten. Her parents, down to earth hard working owners of a small fruit store and descendants of a long line of farmer ponies couldn’t have imagined just how fitting the name they’d given their first and only foal would be...

April can’t remember when she hasn’t been fascinated by the sky and weather, but one of her earliest and fondest memories is her first flight in a hot air balloon as a filly. Half way through the journey a storm had set in; buffeting the balloon until several weather ponies arrived, effortlessly clearing a path in the storm that allowed them to land safely. Completely awe-struck by the storm and the ponies, the young filly realised exactly what she wanted to be when she grew up. A Pegasus weather pony.

Following the balloon adventure, April devoted every spare minute to learning about the sky and the weather, much to her parent’s kind hearted amusement and gentle teasing. Parental amusement turned to concern after their daughter announced her intentions to go to her schools careers day dressed as a weather Pegasus. After several arguments April’s father put his hoof down, insisting that she go as a farmer pony – something she could actually grow up to be. Determined not to back down, April started working on a weather Pegasus costume (complete with unfurling wings) in secret, smuggling it to school with her on careers day. Her career presentation to her classmates was met with jeers and mocking laughter, which continued through the rest of the day. By the afternoon it had become too much for the small filly. Filled with anger and hurt she decided to prove everyone wrong. She would become a Pegasus pony! Climbing to the top of the school house she unfurled her carefully made wings, and jumped.

After her recovery April withdrew, the reality of her shattered dreams dragging her into a seemingly unbreakable depression. This lasted for months, until one day her father brought home one of the regulars from their store, a striking old Pegasus mare who took a reluctant April out for a stroll. As they walked, the mare discussed her career in the Equestria Weather Service, and how she’d climbed through the ranks to become one of the top ponies in the organization. A final suggestion that April could be like her when she group up pushed the filly over the edge, her depression turning to rage as she challenged the statement – the mare could fly, April couldn’t. With a smile, Pegasus had then explained that she’d never flown in her life – a birth defect leaving her without crucial flight feathers in her wings. That little talk reignited April’s enthusiasm for the weather, and it wasn’t long till her cutie mark appeared while using homemade tools to observe a rather violent storm from the roof of her apartment block.

Her obsession has always set her apart from other ponies of all kinds, making it difficult for her to make friends with her peers. The head injury sustained during her attempt to fly as a filly has also made her clumsier than the average pony. As a result she’s a solitary pony, who is happiest when out in the open studying the weather. The barriers and teasing she’s faced throughout her life have made her very determined and stubborn, being unwilling to let any pony get in the way of her dreams and aspirations ever again. Despite this, she gets quite anxious about social situations, especially with ponies she doesn’t know. Her shyness is immediately forgotten if the topic of the weather comes up. Her ability to turn passing small talk into long lectures about the possible effects of pony manipulation of weather flows and the science of cloud formations often causes her to be avoided at social gatherings. If another pony does take the time to get to know her, they find she’s bright, enthusiastic, funny and exuberant, and is most importantly a supportive friend.

April is currently a junior at the Equestria Weather Service, and is currently the only earth pony on staff. She spends most of her time processing the work of other ponies, putting together weather pegasus rosters and (a rare treat) doing some field work of her own. She is slowly becoming discouraged with her job as despite being one of the hardest working ponies in her department, she is constantly overlooked and ignored by her superiors.

In her spare time she pursues her own studies of weather phenomena, hiring out hot air balloons for the thrill of being in the air, and storm chasing around Equestria when bits and time permit.

I like this application it seems very well well written the only criticism I can offer is in the character summary is the lack of description on her personality. You could also consider writing a little more writing about her early childhood, I have seen some applications having only a very short character summaries pass but generally the more you can write about your chactere the more depth it will have and thus will increase it's chances of being passed. I like the fact that your character Is a earth pony who has an interest In the weather, my application form is an Stalliongrad Pegasus pony who farms and people tend to like applications with a originality. I can't wait to see how this application will develop

Hey there! I like the idea behind this character! It is interesting to have an Earth Pony that likes the weather and wants to know more about it. You seem to have the basic outline of a good app here, it just needs some extra info and a little filling out. Her cutie-mark story is a little slim, maybe you could expound upon that a wee bit. Did she do anything else to get her cutie-mark? Maybe she had to do a project for school and while researching, writing, and presenting she realized her love of meteorology? That way her story would have a little more depth! You also might want to expound upon her home life a little. Were her parents disappointed that she had her, "Head in the clouds", as it were, or were they supportive of her decision? Another point is that Ponyville is getting a wee bit crowded, you might think of moving her to one of the other wonderful cities that dapple the face of Equestria. This does not mean that she can not visit Ponyville, or anywhere else on the map for that matter, just that her apartment and job would be in one of the other cities. Also giving a little more depth to the reason behind her liking the weather would go a very long way! Earth Ponies are usually more in tune with the ground beneath their hooves rather than the sky above them. Was there a defining moment when she realized that a whole different world existed up there? Maybe a storm during which something happened to bring her to the realization that studying these things would help the entirety of Equestria? Also adding a little bit to her personality would help too. Is she a driven and focused pony, or is she more free and open? Just some Ideas here.

All in all I like the character and the Ideas behind her, adding some of the suggestions will bring this app up another few notches. When you add things such as back story and motivation it gives your character something to base all their actions off of. It gives your characters depth and makes them more dynamic for you to play and for others to interact with!

I like the work you have put into this character. I see a bunch of development since I last commented. I was actually hoping that this pony would get finished up soon, she seems like a great addition to the the "Mane" RP. Remember, when you are finished editing your app change the [WIP] tag to a [Final] tag. She seems like a wonderfully developed and very dynamic pony!
