If we saw it coming far enough in advance, we might be able organize a mission to nudge it off course. The gravity tug concept has quite a bit of merit, but this is a pretty big asteroid, so you'd need to start early.The real question that everyone is missing is: why don't we catch one of these NEOs and put it in orbit? moto250x Posted November 10, 2011 Author Report Share Posted November 10, 2011 yeah the article said that the rock passed us 85% of the distance to the moon which i thought was cool. also I would imagine this thing was going fast since it was detected on the 4th and reached its closest point 4 days later (that is if NASA's asteroid detection has a far reach) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
