Character Summary: There's not a whole lot to tell about Dapper Dan's life. It's a very average affair, no large adventures, no misfortune to speak of, really.

He was born in Fillydelphia, his mother a seamstress there and his father a barber. He inherited his father's job, which made his father rather happy. His father wanted the barbershop to be a family business to last for generations, and was happy to find that his son was just as skilled at it as he himself was. Dan himself loved the whole atmosphere of the shop, in addition to what they did for a job. He got to meet so many interesting people, from just average gentlecolts to a retired REA soldier with tons of stories to tell. The influx of colts and stallions, each with their own stories, the friendly atmosphere, the smell of the barber products, and pipe smoke...the whole lot of it made Dapper Dan fall in love with what he did. It was only natural that, when he was a colt and old enough to work a razor and scissors that he gained his cutie mark.

He got it on his first day on the job. While he'd hung out in the shop listening to the stories and the chatter amongst the stallions there, his father had always told him to wait until he was old enough to try his hand at cutting hair. Dan's first client was a gentlecolt that had come in from out of town. Coached by his father, he magicked up the scissors and comb, and got to work. It went swimmingly, the gentlecolt getting quite the haircut from young Dan, Dan gaining a good tip from the pony, and a cutie mark to boot. From that moment on, instead of just his father working in the shop, they'd had to buy a second chair for Dan to work with, and it became a father-son business, just as his father had wanted. It seemed the family business was going to continue.

Dan had to disappoint his father a little. Shortly after entering into his stallion age, young Dapper Dan had heard of Appleloosa, a newly formed colony on the edge of the desert. Figuring he could get in a bit of adventure, Dan left his parents behind in Fillydelphia, packed up a straight razor and some supplies, and hopped the first wagon train to Appleloosa. It was a little tough at first, but eventually, Dan managed to get a hold of a small little store and loft just off the main street. Nothing more than one barber's chair, a small section for razors and other products for sale, and a waiting room full of old magazines and books, with a small loft upstairs for him to live. Not much, but a business.

He erected a hand-painted barber's pole out front, a gift from his father, and it's been spinning ever since. Business was a little slow at first, but the pleasant atmosphere attracted a following as young Dan entertained his customers with news and song. Now, his little shop is firmly entrenched in Appleloosa, and he's loving life. His father is proud of him, and doesn't mind that the family business may have split: so long as Dan is happy, and still working at what his father, and his father's father did, then Dan's father is just as happy.

Dan is truly an old-fashioned gentlecolt at heart, common among old-fashioned Appleloosa. He has a rather deep voice, for his young age, which he shows off when he occasionally sings when he works. Besides his singing, he's a friendly, calm pony, yet sometimes he gets rather excited, especially over news to the small town, or goings on elsewhere. Though he rarely ever leaves Appleloosa, only going to Fillydelphia or Canterlot if he's running low on supplies and to visit his parents. , Dapper Dan tries to keep his ear to the ground as much as he can on the news, either by getting newspapers when he's in the big cities, having a Pony Express pegasus deliver a paper to him, or just listening to the tales from out of towners in the local watering hole.

All in all, Dan loves life. There's little that gets him down, because as long as he has the barbershop, stories to tell and to hear, songs to sing, and good friends in a good town, then he's happy.

Okay, I like this application, but a something strikes me about it that could probably be fixed! ^^;

Appleoosa is only a year old, as was said in Over a barrel - this therefore means that Dapper can't have been born there and be his current age!

I imagine that once this is fixed and your app adapted, there may well be an app stamp in your future, if no immediate other suggestions are made!

Huh, thought it had been longer in our RP. My bad, it will be fixed.

As show canon trumps everything, we go by that as much as we can. According to the show, Appleoosa is only around a year or so old. Now of course he can live/be from there currently. As for being born, what you can do is mention a nearby area he was born in, be it a nearby town (such as Fillydelphia), or just in the nearby country (such as Saddleveil Plains or Painted Pinto Desert) showing he is from that region (if you want him to have always been local) and then moved to Appleoosa as one of the first settlers, therefore being a town founder.
