Character Summary:

Being born into the GoLucky family already had gotten him a reputation of being a lowlife, though it was something he seemed to take to heart. His father, Pops GoLucky loved to play cards with his son. Being the greedy pony he was, it was always for something he had, be it bits he just found or made, or maybe even a snack or something that Ace had managed to get ahold of. Afterall, being a nut farmer didn't net him very much. At least not as much as Ace's aunts and uncles were making. He resented his father for it, as he could never quite seem to understand how he did it. But it was a legitimate interest to him. Everyday he'd watch his father, and lose. He tried to find that trick, that edge, whatever it was that made him win every time.

Out on the town, he'd always flag down a young pony to try and test his theories. Sometimes he'd get lucky, other times he'd fail miserably. Eventually he got fed up with losing. Every time he did, it festered in the back of his mind. He confronted his father in quite a fuss, but the old pony just smiled and sat him down at their table. "Here boy, let me teach you something..."

He put three cards down on the table. A two a clubs, a two of spades, and a queen of hearts. "Follow the queen." he instructed. He watched his father pick up two cards, show him the queen on the bottom, and flip the bottom card down. Then he picked up the other card, along with the queen, and again showed it to him on the bottom. Flipping a card down again, he had them all lined up in a row of three. "Where is the queen?" he asked. Picking the card on the end, his father just laughed and showed him a two of spades. At this, Ace got even more frustrated, but his father was quick to explain. "Watch closely..." Again he picked up the end card and th ecard in the middle, the queen. Showed it to him, being under one of the 2s. Flipping the card down, he picked up the other end card and picked up the middle card, still the queen, and showed it to him again. "Now... the trick is that when I flip the card down a second time... I can flip down any card I want..." He did it slowly, and Ace saw the top card, the two, leave his hoof, and land in the spot where he last guessed, showing him the queen still in his hoof. "If you flip the card down fast enough, it'll be too fast for the eye to catch. No magic. Just eye tricks, boy. Gets them everytime..."

After practicing this very simple trick with his father, he at last mustered up the courage to try it again in the park. An athletic pony approached him, wondering what stupid trick he had to show him. "I bet your lunch money that you can't win this game" he said to the pony, though in the back of his head he was being nibbled by doubt and nervousness. "Follow the queen". The cards flipped, and he showed him the queen twice. But then came the moment of truth. His father had told him he was ready, that he was able to do it right. He flipped down the top card, putting the queen back in the middle of the face down cards. He athletic pony just scoffed and flipped over the card on the end. To his shock, and to Ace's joy, there was a two of clubs! Ace let out a giddy squeal as the pony handed over three bits! He returned home triumphant, and with a cutie mark! Finally mastering a simple card trick that yielded a bounty filled him with such joy and passion! He wanted more!

Throughout his entie life, he spend most of his time learning more card tricks and branching out into gambling. He never wanted for anything. If he saw a piece of fruit he wanted, he'd challenge the vendor to a card game. Couldn't pay carriage fair? He'd go around the line of onies and reel in enough bits! Other pony's misfortune brought him happiness, a practice he continues to this very day.

When not playing card games, he continues the family tradition of nut farming, often spending time with his cousin Reno GoLuckyand helping her father and his dear Uncle with finances. While not the family bookkeeper per se, he knows his way around money, and seems to be good at getting vendors to pay up on time. Because no one cheats a family of cheaters, especially when they've got an Ace up their sleeve.
