Physique: Is about the size of the average stallion, a little muscular, in enough shape to keep up with most athletic ponies never surpass but hold his own

Cutie Mark: Cutie Mark is a rock, but to be more pacific it is a chunk of Obsidian.

Origins: Born and raised in Canterlot went to Canterlot Academy for Magic and Science where he graduated with a degree in Geology, he was hired by the Royal Canterlot Mining company who then sent him to his current residence Ponyville to study the geology of the area and report of any prospective areas for mines.

Occupation: Exploratory Geologist for the Royal Canterlot Mining Company

Motivation: Tom is motivated by almost anything. He is very random. But if you tell Tom that you found something out far that is really cool and is made by the earth, Tom will go look at it. Tom also loves to help other ponies, and will find a way to help them in any way he can.

History:

Tom was born in Canterlot to a mother and father (duh!), and was named Tomirite after his parent’s favorite rock, Tom for short. Unfortunately they had to work a lot and could never really hang out with their son. As such he was often left alone at home. Tom quickly grew board of his house and would go on little adventures into the outdoors. More often then not he would come home with little souvenirs rocks to be exact. He became so fascinated with these rocks and minerals that he would often head out with his parents magnifying glass to observe them in further detail. Tom was so obsessed with his growing rock collection that he failed to notice his cutie mark for over two weeks. It wasn’t until his father brought home a giant chunk of obsidian that Tom finally noticed his cutie mark. Tom’s parents supported his newfound love and bought him everything he needed to pursue it. This included a wide variety of magnifying glasses, books, storage area, and other things a young geologist would need.

It wasn’t all fun and games though, Tom’s parents often worried about how their son spent more time with inanimate objects then he did with other ponies. Of coarse Tom tried to play with other ponies but what was he suppose to do, he lived in Canterlot where the vast majority of the population was unicorns. Unicorns could use magic and float things about; therefore most of their games relied on magic. Tom couldn’t play these magic unicorn games; he was just an earth pony. On top of all this, Tom love for rocks garnered him the nickname of “weird” Tom never understood that being called “weird” was a bad thing and really enjoyed his nickname. So much that to this day he still considers himself “weird.” Tom didn’t help himself either when he made his dads gift, the chunk on obsidian, into his pet and would often play and talk with it. His parents even tried to get him into other hobbies such as reading comic books and just reading. Little did they know Tom would adopt these hero’s as his mentors and would adopt their values as his own. As such Tom has a pretty strict set of values that he hold dear to himself.

Tom really did enjoy the outside more than anything else. Mainly because that was were all the rocks were located at. Tom never favored one rock of any other, mainly because he loved them all. However he did find himself taking very kindly to anything with a crystalline structure. Toms secret favorite mineral is the "fire ruby." But he has only seen them in books and never once has he seen one in real life.

All the time Tom spent out side and studying the rocks and earth around him made him pretty knowledgeable about Geology. As such his parents encouraged him to try and attend the Canterlot Academy for Magic and Science. One day Tom got the biggest letter of his life, he was accepted to the Academy, but on one favorable ground, that he study Geology. Tom made new friends at the Academy, but he was still one of the few earth ponies there, he was one of the few ponies studying science. It was in his Academy years that Tom grew to like helping other ponies. He also grew his very own, if not random, personality. He was always excited to meet new ponies and to go hang out with them. He loved to go on hikes with other ponies and loved even more to show off his love for rocks to them.

During those years he got an internship for the Royal Canterlot Mining Company where he would eventually be hired for a full time position as one of their many exploration Geologist. Tom loved this new job, it meant he would be doing the two things he loved most, exploring and looking at rocks. Tom first assignment was Ponyville because back at the Academy Tom gained notoriety amongst peers and faculty alike when he theorized that Ponyville might have not only a fault running right through it but a massive extinct volcano right out side of the town. The Mining Company loved this idea of an extinct volcano and the fault for this meant that there were probably some rare and valuable minerals around Ponyville, and they wanted them. Tom was more then happy to be placed in a town full of earth ponies just like him. For once in Tom’s life he feels he can hang out with ponies and not be secluded. So that is what Tom does, when he is not doing his job, he finds a way to hang out with any pony he can.

Tom is always trotting around town and in the outskirts looking for minerals that his company might like. He also surveys the land looking for anything he or his employer might find interesting. As such Tom always carries a lot of equipment where ever he goes, and is always ready for an adventure or exploration.

Toms biggest flaw is that he can sometimes be annoying and not realize it. He spent so much of his child hood talking to rocks that he sometimes forgets that ponies know how to talk back. He also doesn’t have a filter per say, which results in him blurting out things that sometimes don’t need to be said.

*I would like to make just a side note here! Yes I named my oc RP character after the rock Tom from the show. But I figure that Rarity knows gems well enough to know that there is a rock out there named Tomirite and that it was her subconsens trying to tell her that this wasn't a diamond it was just a plain old Tomirite rock. If this is not ok please inform me!*

But I figure that Rarity knows gems well enough to know that there is a rock out there named Tomerite and that it was her subconsens trying to tell her that this wasn't a diamond it was just a plain old Tomirite rock.

This application looks good so far! Just a few spelling errors such as main should be Mane, pacific should be specific. Also the line where it says;

This means learning about the Geology of the area that he lives in and learning about the people living in this area as they effect and are effect by the geology.

People should be changed to ponies and I believe it should say "Living in this area as they affect and are affected by"

Tom also does not have to be constantly put in parenthesis quote(Don't know why I said parentheses) as we understand that Tom is his nickname.

This app is interesting so far! I can see the Tom inspiration here! But you really don't have to put "Tom" in quotes =3 , I think that he seems fine as is but could use a little more depth to really bring out his full potential! Such as WHY does he like rocks? What sort of Rocks fascinate him the most?

Also I am not quite sure if Comic books are a real thing in Ponyville, maybe from heroic tales of ponies his father used to tell him as a colt instead? =3

There is actually a comic artist pony, so I believe that much is okay.
