GIMP thoughts

I just downloaded GIMP (Gnu Image Manipulation Program) a few days ago and just wanted to get anypony's feedback on it if they use it.

So, do you like it?

Any problems you see with it?

I haven't used it, but... tools do not an artist make. I've heard good things though.

From the use i had with it, it's a free and very powerfull alternative to photoshop or other huge payware. I know many great artists who use GIMP and make quite descent work. Besides, it has the advantage to be multi platform, working on Windows, Linux or MAC.

Gimp is a nice program, but honestly Photoshop is the go-to program for the serious digital artist. Of course, not everyone is willing to shell out the bucks to purchase it at such a ridiculous price, or feel morally okay downloading it illegally like the vast majority of PS users generally do. xD

...no, I have no idea what you mean, and I suddenly feel a little creeped out. XD

I personally prefer PaintToolSAI over both PS and GIMP. It's got the same basic features as GIMP, plus quite a few of the more 'necessary' features of Photoshop. Plus, it works 10x better with a tablet, in my opinion. PS slowed down to a sluglike pace when I hooked up my tablet. *shrug* so I removed it from my PC. I now only use SAI.
