Imagination Posted March 18, 2012 Report Share Posted March 18, 2012 (edited) Recess!Ruby Pinch's favorite time of the day! Luckily it was a sunny day out! So much to do... so little time! She wished recess could be longer, but knew even if she petitioned, it probably wouldn't be approved. Which was why she was going to study to be a lawyer! And then one day she could help a little filly write a proper petition to have recess extended!Of course, that was her process of thought before she was distracted with a sudden game of tag! A colt gave her a playful jab to the back with his hoof and cried "Tag! You're it!". Once she got over the shock and horror of being declared 'it', a fate worse that death for a playground foal, she gave chase! At least half a dozen other foals running around, all screaming with excitement and glee. They dodged and turned this way and that, running and hiding and scrambling! But eventually Ruby found her pray...Hiding behind the slide, catching her breath, was one of her school friends. Sneaking her way on up like... like a little snake... or a tiger! Yes! A little pink fluffy tiger! She got right next to her friend and got ready. Crouching down, getting ready to pounce... and then..."Tag, you're it!" she cried after giving her friend a gentle tap on the flank. Having been preoccupied with looking everywhere but behind her for the little pink unicorn, she jumped with a yelp of surprise! But voiced a disappointed 'Aw ponyfeathers!' and went about her business as the new 'it', honoring the no-tag-backs rule and leaving Pinchy be. But with that out of the way, Ruby found a shady spot under a tree and lay back against its trunk.What better thing to do during recess that lounge by a tree? An unproductive recess, as opposed to her usual antics, but one of her friends was sick and another had detention... And she couldn't find the jump rope. But what else could the remaining period bring her? Recess was a very unpredictable time. Anything could happen! Why, sandwiches could fall from the sky!No, really! It happened! Of course, the 'weathermaster' was currently suffering through detention, as mentioned earlier, and writing 'I will not throw sandwiches' on the chalkboard over and over and over again. Taking the card out to make sure it was free of any blemishes , excess glitter, and other inperfections he smiled with a small look of satisfaction; he had worked hours on that card making sure it screamed "RubyPinch" Right down to the cute rubies glued to the card surrounded by purple glitter.Taking a deep breath he watched for a moment to make sure the coast was clear before he walked towards his crush, the cute unicorn with those bright eyes thinking 99 thoughts a second "Um..' He cleared his throat before offering her the card "Um...this is for you!"His brain went white he didn't know what to do! "Hi!" she greeted with the usual happy wave of her hoof as he approached. But he seemed to be quite shy. She happily accepted his little card, already spotting some of the pretty colors on it... But then, the unthinkable! Something even a pony as diabolically cute as the great Ruby Pinch could not predict, nor prepare for! She got a cheek peck! By the time he had disappeared behind a free, the majority of the little filly's face had changed from pink to bright red. Rather than act confused or even disgusted, she just started giggling. But wait! The card!She opened it, reading the little poem inside as if it were a letter she had been waiting on for years. "Roses are sweet and you are too, if you were a star I'd wish on you"Hey, to a little filly, that's world-class poetry right there. But it touched her! It really did! She started blushing all over again and let out a bashful little squeal. It was so sweet! So thoughtful! So pretty! She wanted to hug the fluff outta that card, but she didn't want to ruin it! So the hug would have to wait for the gracious little pony who gave such a wonderful thing to her. Speaking of which where did he go? Oh, right! Behind the tree! She quickly went up to the other side of the tree and peeked on over. There he was, hiding hid head under his hooves. Gosh, he must've been real nervous! "Hey!" she loudly, cheerfully greeted, trying to get his attention more than startle him... Though she was sure she'd achieve that effect as well. His hair poofed like a dandilion that had suffered a heart attack, and he quickly moved a hoof to fix the hair that was a puffed up mess "Oh um.." His face turned red and he lowered it slightly to look at the floor, kicking the dirt with a hoof "Hey Ruby..."Did she not like the card? Was it rude? Oh god was she going to turn him into a turnip for giving it to her!? His little mind raced through several scenario's and none of them were very pleasant... He flew!As fascinating as that was, Ruby tried to hold back her amusement at seeing the reaction of his mane to her little greeting. Part of her wanted to play with it, but he fixed it before the filly could act on that impulse.But what was this? A bashful one! But that was okay. She had to give him credit! It probably took a lot of guts to do what he did, and she was very grateful! Oh course she still had his card with her, levitating it behind her. But now what? Well, the filly gave him a peck on his cheek right back, followed by a big hug! Awww. "Thank you, Reno! It's beautiful!" the filly's excitement over the card still bursting from her voice. He said and blushed darkly at that hopping slightly before coughing " Um..do you um want to um..go to sugarcube corner after school with me?" he asked . There was only so long a hug could last during recess, after all. If Diamond Tiara or her little toadie, Silver Spoon, saw that they'd never hear the end of it."Um..do you um want to um..go to sugarcube corner after school with me?"Was he asking her out? Was it a date? Were they just hanging out? Either way, it was Ruby's turn to be bashful, hiding (or trying to hide) her blushing behind her hooves. Reno was cute and a nice colt, so why not? He exclaimed, kicking up his back heels eagerly, before blushing and calming the hay down "Um well that's good..." He muttered trying to act like he hadn't just acted like a total spazzy pony! "I think it could be fun!" He could buy her a cupcake or something for Hearts and Hooves Day and it would be all romantic and such right?"Then afterwards we can go to the park! Imagination Posted June 4, 2012 Author Report Share Posted June 4, 2012 Ruby was quite happy that she made another pony... well, happy! His jumping around and repetitive use of 'Yes' made her giggle! A day hanging out with another pony around town, and going to the park and playing games?! The only way it could be more perfect was if Miss Cheerilee canceled the last half of school. "Yeah! That sounds like fun!" she seemed about ready to burst at the seams. She was so excited! "Too bad we have to wait till after class though..." She almost thought about trying to convince him to play hookie, but Miss Cheerilee would definitely notice they were gone, and she didn't want to get Reno in trouble. But then came that dreaded sound. Like a harbinger of doom. *BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRG!*"Awwww!" came the collective voice of disappointment from the foals at play. The bell had rung, and it was time to get back to class. "Aww ponyfeathers...
