Roleplay Type: World of Equestria RP

Name: Thespian Thespony (or “Thes” for short)

Sex: Male

Age: Stallion

Species: Earth Pony

Eye Color: Forest green

Coat Color: Pale silvery-blue (the picture below is not strictly accurate, I didn’t have the right shade of marker)

Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: Long-ish mane, short tail, both spiky. Mane and tale mostly black with platinum streaks (again, picture not completely accurate, but as close as I could get.

Physique: tall-ish—not tall for his age, but just a bit tall for his weight, as he is rather slight. Not to say he’s weak, but speed and agility come more naturally to him than brute force.

Cutie Mark: The Comedy/Tragedy masks of the theater, which he received opening night of his first show—even though it was a school production. Nevertheless, his love of theater was kindled

Origin/Residence: He’s from Canterlot originally, and spent most of his life there. Technically, he still resides there, but has taking to traveling, in search of somepony he once knew…

Occupation: Actor (“by birth and by choice” as he likes to say)

Motivation: Onstage: the feeling he gets from the audience—the ‘energy’ of the crowd that he seems to feed off of when performing—and his passion for theater. Offstage as he travels: A certain mare he went to school with whose gentle heart and stirring voice haunt him still.

Likes: First and foremost, acting. I’ve modeled him after myself, in that regard. Whether comedy or tragedy, he has a penchant for the stage that cannot be denied. His favorite songs are the tunes from musicals, but he appreciates well-done acapella. He likes pasta, but his all-time weakness in the world of food is cheesecake. In his spare times, he travels, never afraid to try new things.

Dislikes: Failure. This is a big one—he’s a bit of a perfectionist, and though he knows nothing ever goes perfectly (especially in the world of theater) he can’t help cringing internally if the gaffe is not something that can be easily covered up with creative ad-libbing. Also, he greatly dislikes it when anyone insults theater, males involved in theater, or any lady.

Character Summary:

Personality: Thes is…interesting. He’s very smart, but he’s sarcastic and a tad cynical at times. Get him involved in any production, though, and he becomes incredibly serious about his work—dedicated to discovering his character and pulling off his part, no matter how small. His default onstage persona is boisterous, comedic, and a tad goofy. Around the ladies, however, he is a complete gentleman. Given these four “spheres” of personality, it’s hard to get to know Thes well, even though he’s incredibly friendly. Above all, he is passionate about everything he does—he doesn’t believe in doing anything half-heartedly.

Family: His family is in that class in Canterlot that bridges the gap between middleclass and upper crust (“Middle crust” as he calls it). He is the youngest of four, with three older sisters. His parents were tolerant of their young son’s artistic bent, allowing him to pursue pretty much whatever he wanted. And, of course, once his gift of acting was discovered, they supported his choice.

Backstory: Thes had always known his future lay in some sphere of the arts, though it wasn’t until the curtain went upon his first elementary school production that he knew the stage was calling him. He’d enjoyed the process of putting it together, certainly, but performing for a live audience for the first time gave him such an adrenaline rush, and for the first time, he really got into character, and stole the show. After the final bows, his teacher pointed out his new cutie mark—the comedy/tragedy masks—and Thes knew he was going to be an actor.

In the pony equivalent of “highschool” his parents allowed him to attend a school or the performing arts, where he met a group of ponies that would become his closest friends. One of them, a filly named Heart Song caught his eye, and soon he felt as if he’d found his “special somepony.” But soon after graduation, it became increasingly clear that Heart Song was unhappy about something. Before Thes could ask her what was wrong, she left, leaving only a note that said, “I’m not where I’m supposed to be, I’m not who I’m supposed to be, and I just can’t stay here.” Ever since then, when he’s not taking a role to financially support himself, he is traveling, looking for her, if only to be sure she’s happy.

Current Goal: To find Heart Song, apologize if need be, and be sure she’s happy.

Major Flaw: He’s got a touch of ego, a perfectionist, and has a sense of humor not many ponies get.

Nice work on the picture, sis!

Hm, I think Shakespony is a given; but I wonder if any other playwrights could be easily ponified...

Neigh Simon, Thornton Whinnier... can't think of any others off the top of my head.
