Character Summary: Several years ago a small diamond dog was found wandering the tunnels under Roughrider Ridge, and it is not entirely clear where he came from. None of the other Diamond Dogs could recall seeing him before, and it quickly became apparent that he was not eloquent enough to explain where he came from, though he was able to give a name, Powder.. Shortly after that, it also became apparent that he was a bit... Simple. It was awkward, when no-one was addressing him he tended to stand around, staring at things no-one else could see. Usually a terminally happy individual, it was soon discovered that he followed orders brilliantly. Shortly after that it was discovered that he followed the letter of orders, not the spirit. He had difficulty understanding the difference between an order and an expression, which led to awkward and dangerous situations soon after his arrival.

His exploitable nature was quickly taken advantage of, and soon earned him nicknames. Ponder, for his habit of disappearing inside his own brain when not being instructed, and Pander, for his gleeful eagerness to be useful. Powder seemed to have boundless wells of energy and strength, and best of all, he LOVED to work. Not being very bright, he was perfectly happy with whatever he received as payment for his services, as long as everyone acted like it was appropriate exchange. This worked exceptionally well, because as the very self oriented individual he was, he has never stopped to question, or perhaps even notice the shares other members of the colony receive. Pulling carts with vibrant glee, digging for hours on end whenever and wherever he was told, he was somewhat of a boon to the colony. Eventually falling under the tutelage of a single Diamond Dog, he began being passed about through bets and wagers, but he was perfectly happy to be working under a new face. Some leaders, however, were not so nice. Diamond Dogs are not always friendly, and some were naturally loud or even heavy handed with discipline.

Some of them were not so pleasant, but his terminally upbeat nature remained much undiminished, happily working his claws away, eventually he was won in a card game by Diamond Dog name Rommel. It took several weeks for him to get his new friend's name down, but they were happy times. One of the best masters he has had by far, Rommel treats him with the respects and kindness his hard work deserves. He digs where he is told, carries the gear, and is paid well for his trouble! He prefers to let Rommel manage it however, as the greyhound seems to be able to do much more with it than he himself. He is mildly aware that the work he does with Rommel is somehow different than the day to day work he would do with the other Diamond Dogs, but he still gets to dig and carry, so it is all the same to him. He loves Rommel very very much and as time goes on, he finds it difficult to imagine being happy working for anyone else.

Powder is, of course entirely blissfully ignorant of the illicit nature of the numerous misadventures that Rommel tends to drag him along on. His unblinking obedience, intense loyalty, and fearsome strength are lovely asset in any illegitimate business practice, especially when they are coupled with an outlook that makes it nearly impossible for one to feel guilty about the job! Kidnapping is simply taking someone somewhere, extortion is simply going around collecting money, robbery is treasure hunting! Even if he were blatantly told that what he is doing is wrong, he may not even grasp the concept. He is almost the perfect minion, his only fault is his difficulty interpreting orders. They need to be suitably specific, and usually, literal.

It is Diamond Dog thing, but he's not cognizant enough to desire to show off like that. He'll wear a collar if someone wants him to, but otherwise he doesn't see a point. He's not all there, you see.
