Mane/Tail: His mane and tail are of medium length, the mane ending at the base of his neck and the tail going only slightly past his knees. They are both styled in a way that makes them look like they are flowing, like water a bit, and they are mostly blue with streaks of light blue in them.

 

Physique: Cryo is a muscular stallion, his frame owing to the amount of vigorous training he has gone through. He is of average height for males his age. He has various scars, but the only noticeable one is the burn on his right front leg from his brother.

 

Residence: Canterlot

 

Occupation: Lieutenant in the REA

 

Cutie Mark: An icicle piercing a heart made of ice.

 

Unique Traits: He has ice magic at his disposal, as well as weapon training and experience. He tends to use a hammer bordering on too large for one hoof, as well as a shield. His armor is the typical armor for his position.

 

History: Cryo was born to unicorn parents, and life was good for him. One was a teacher in Celestia's school, and the other was a chef. It was just the three of them until Cryo was starting his second year of school, when suddenly his brother arrived. His brother, Pyro, was like his antithesis. Not only in terms of color, but in terms of personality and magic. Pyro was brash, impulsive, angry, and eventually discovered fire magic. They were a good balance for the other, and they spent most of their time together growing up, playing together and learning together. The one thing they both shared was their desire to protect others, and they would often play that they were guards themselves.

 

He earned his mark the first time he had used his ice magic. He had been out with his brother during a camping trip, exploring the woods when an angry bear found them. Being the older brother, he put himself on guard duty, using his magic to try and scare off the bear to no avail. In desperation, he reached into himself, pulling out a power he did not know he had and freezing the bear in place, as well as his brother and himself. Thankfully, his parents were able to thaw them out, and they soon headed back to the camp, letting the hot day thaw the bear. He only noticed his new mark after he got to the camp site, and they all celebrated after that. This was also the day he began seriously working towards becoming a guard.

 

It was during one day of his self-imposed training regimen, after his brother had discovered his cutie mark as well, that he got his scar. Cryo was working hard, getting stronger and gaining more control over his magic. In the process though, he was ignoring Pyro, and Pyro was not happy about that at all. In a fit of rage, Pyro lost control of his magic and released a burst of fire. Cryo managed to counter most of it with his own blast of ice, which also froze his brother, but some of the fire made it through and ended up scarring him.

 

In time, after many years of learning, experiences, training, and determination, Cryo joined the REA. He had achieved his dream. And while he had moved out of his home to do so, he still visited when he could as he worked hard. There was always tension between the two brothers now, due to the events that caused his burn, but they still cared for each other, so after a long time, they worked through it and they were back to their old selves

 

Personality: Cryo, like the ice he likes to make use of, is calculating, patient, and cold. While not on duty, he is somewhat friendly, but he is the type that seems to take his work with him wherever he goes. He prefers to keep others on the level of ally, not letting many get close enough for him to consider them friends. When someone gets that close to him, he shows them true kindness, often putting them before himself in most respects. Even if he doesn't show it, he cares about everyone, and will do anything to protect his family, friends, allies, and innocents, in that order. He fights with careful precision, waiting for a chance to strike while setting up traps and defenses with his magic.

 

Summary: A cold, calculating unicorn guard that also has a soft spot once you get past the harsh exterior. He will do anything to protect others, making him very effective at his job as well as his determination to make himself stronger.
