  2. HK-47! I loved that droid. Those games were made for a Lightsaber Kill Squad, but that fact that so many folks shelved a Force-user for that addled-droid says something about Bioware and Obsidian. To this day, I'll play anything put out by those two studios and HAVE played everything to come out on PC from those two. I've never done any RPing of main characters. Mostly because I feel I can't do them justice, but also because they're not as interesting to me. I like places with wide enough universes to step off the beaten path and have my own adventures. Not to say that my main SW character, Errant Mira'ad, didn't rub shoulders with some of the main characters (he was heavily inspired by the X-Wing novels and then Karen Traviss's Mando'ade saga).
  3. We have to assume that each pony is beginning a normal, rested state absent any outside interference or inspiration and using their primary mode of transportation unless otherwise indicated. Pretty much each pony would be doing a lone time trial. Fluttershy can break reality when motivated, but normal state Fluttershy isn't especially fast. She doesn't fly often or fast. Pinkie Pie absent Rule of Funny justification isn't shown being any faster than a normal pony. Rarity...doesn't run period unless life is on the line. She might get dusty. Twilight is a long distance endurance runner. She's not going to outrun anybody over short distances. Rainbow Dash is, hooves-down, the fastest flyer and thus makes her the fastest of the six if there isn't a limit on mode of transportation. Applejack is the fastest runner. Cheating and pranking aside, Rainbow Dash was beginning to flag at the end of the Running of Leaves, choosing to fly at the end when freed rather than running to the finish which would have gained her better bragging rights.
  4. My source would be from the divine personification of Lady Luck, the goddess Fortuna. Having been granted her favor and the proportional powers of an action hero, I'd be mostly unstoppable! Mutant powers can be cured. Science and magic follow some sort of law system. Gods? They make the law systems. And anything that can cut your divine power source is already on the god level, so you don't stand much of a chance anyways...well beyond plucky determination. Sure, you do have to follow someone's wishes and a code of a sorts, but you also have someone watching your back and your power source. AND when you really need it, when all hope seems lost and you've been a good boy? They remove the limiter and shove the throttle into Emergency Hero Power. Baron Big Bad von Nogood, the puppy-kicking fiend, suddenly finds that whatever dastardly plan that was tailored to kick yer flank is no longer enough.
  5. Whoa, there, pard. That was DEEP. Don't hurt our poor little brains with yer fancy philosophizin'. Ya know what you did wrong, ya won't do it again, and this'll all be fine and dandy. I think that you can trust us as you can trust yourself.
  6. Welcome! Enjoy your new tabula rasa! I apologize that I didn't have time to paint it or make it to scale...
  7. I'll put a placeholder of interest here. I'm new to the board and need to get characters approved first, but I'd got for it. However...are ya sure ya want to name it Colossus? It'd be real close naming it Titanic seein' as the Colossus of Rhodes was statue of a titan. :snickers:
  8. Welcome to the Herd, Jacob. And naw, I'm sure a cold-turkey transfer from the World o'Darkness to the Magical Land of Equestria won't be any problem at all....>_> <_< Nope, nooo problem. Ya know demonic hellspawn and colorful ponies are a one to one exchange.

    Weapons?

This is the exactly the sort of discussion that intrigues me. Heck, I'd been thinking about it along with other questions about Equestrian technology. But starting your introduction MLP through Fallout: Equestria can do that. You could easily assume that the armor the Royal Guard wears could be gold plating on top of a stronger material. Heck through in magic and alchemy, that could be some gold-colored unobtainium that's stronger than steel. As previoiusly noted trebuchets and other throwing arm weapons would only be of use in siege situations or facing some force of massed enemies that moves slowly enough to be hit with the very powerful but slow weapons. I couldn't really see a use against an opposing force of equines and definitely not griffins and maybe not even diamond dogs or any other fast moving, agile predator. However something like a ballista might be of more use, especially the smaller Roman variants. Basically large crossbows that throw spears, they'd be managable anti-air defense and more suited to engaging a faster moving ground force. Good use of biology, Kirby! So mouth-operated weapons aren't totally damned by a loss of sight, but I still can't see them being a main weapon style for ponies. A mouth-wielded weapons would still cut off another important warrior element, communication. I think a few warriors might use them out of personal preference or a specially-trained style or just appropriating enemy weapons on the battlefield. However, most of an armed force can't be reduced to mumbled, unintelligiable orders and warnings. I'm all for the helm-mounted weapons that just makes sense. And someone stated before a lance-harness system. I think both would be great for earth ponies. However the lance system would have to have some way of quick-releasing it. Any good contact with them enemy would shatter the lance. Perhaps a tonfa-esque handle to pull it out of the harness. A solar eslipse only happens over a very narrow area where the Moon direct shadow passes over the Earth. Using Celestia AND Luna, ponies could have tactical darkness. To either damage a particular area or safely give equestrian forces the cover of nightfall for movement as long as they need. Also if the sun doesn't heat an area for long enough, it freezes. In 1816, a combination of low solar output and a large volanic eruption in 1815 caused a climatic change that had frosts in May, snow in June, and iced rivers and lakes in July all through New England down to Pennslyvania. And that's just reduced solar output and transmission through the atmosphere. The Cretaceous Extinction Event (end o'the dinosaurs) is theorized to have blocked the sun entirely for a year and reduced the sun's transmissions by ten to twenty percent for ten years. It killed just about every living thing on Earth. What level of Weapon of Magical Destruction are we talking about here? Your guess is as good as mine. Anything I've tried to look up the subject delves into theoretical physics. I think it'd be along the lines of 1816's Year Without Summer but much, much quicker. Freezing, shortages and quick use of fuels, chaos, mass panic...like any sort of warfare you don't have to annihilate the enemy, you just have to crush their will to fight. Nightmare Moon caused enough panic way back when that Celestia banished Luna to the Moon. Just think what'd be like in a realm that doesn't have a God-Princess or six MacGuffin-armed heroines to solve your problems? There's something I read in a really good fanfic series, It's a Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door. Yep, it's very Tolkien-inspired, but it's just inspired with a good bit of original thought that feels a home with MLP-verse. It has mouth-spears which is hard to take, but also hoof-axes which are an interesting idea...even if I have no idea how they're wielded. The most intriguing idea is the earth-pony magic of "Standing Firm." Basically, in addition to knowing the land and being able to grow crops very well, earth ponies can sense the land around them and then root themselves to it, becoming as hard, anchored, and invincibile as the bedrock deep beneath their hooves (read chapter eight for the full explanation and chapter 18 for the full effect). A power such as this would not only make earth ponies the lancers of an equestrian army but also the pikeponies. Using their lances defensively, they could Stand Firm, and literally the enemy would break on them...well less like water on rocks and more like flies into windshields.
  10. Nice to know there's some good SW eyes here! I wasn't big into the Mandos until I read Karen Traviss's books on them. Boba Fett's badflank and all, but it's not that interesting always surrounded in mystery. When Traviss really fleshed out their society, I fell in with the Mandos. My SW characters were OC fighter pilots and privateers. My main was a Force adept privateer near-human trying to get in touch with his Mandolorian side of the family. I know, I know, that sounds like the worst contrived bit of Marty Sue to have ever taken the yoke of a Corellian transport, but I worked REAL hard to make him work and limited him a lot. He wasn't strong in the Force, and he was always more of a agility fighter so he didn't have really heavy Mandalorian armor. He was rogue and swashbuckler, more reliant on his skill and charm, a silver-tongued heart breaker, hence the avatar. He was mostly from a crossover RP board. Maybe he'll make an appearance sometime.
  11. Thanks, Tales. Like I said, I came across Canterlot while cruising around Google for some ideas for a Fallout: Equestria fic I was thinking about writing. I started readin' yer RP threads and character bios and figured y'all were the MLP RP board I was lookin' for. I really like the lore-friendly detail y'all're getting into, and I have a few ideas I'd like to pose in a few. I'm workin' on the bio for my first character new, and he might be up within the next day.
  12. Well, it's incidental that I'm an AJ fan. I'm from the American South and talk with the accent because I like it (I can drop it quick if I need to speak to more respectable folk. Sadly, a bit of drawl makes many people think yer dumb. Okay, so I DO like pulling the reversal on folks...). AJ's my favorite of the Mane Six. I'm partial to the country girl next door, sure, but mostly I like that she's the...most normal of the six. She can't break the fourth wall, fly, use magic, or use an evil eye that cows mythical creatures. She's just got her commitment and iron will. And I'd be glad to post with ya once I get my character in order.
  13. Name's ErrantIndy, but you can call me Errant, Indy, or just Err. I'm a guy in my mid-twenties. I'm currently in graduate school getting a degree in maritime archaeology. I live in the Southern US. I've been a fan of MLP after stumbling on the fanfic Fallout: Equestria when looking for Fallout fanfics on TvTropes. Had to start doin'...research to understand the pony references and got hooked along the way. I stumbled onto Canterlot.com when looking up ideas for my own Fallout:Equestria story I'm thinking about writing. I've RP'd a great deal in the past but haven't done any in the past year. Most of it was Star Wars or Scifi too, but I've been looking for a good MLP RP board and think I found it here.
