  1. She said it. "Indeed." She nodded. "We actually went out on the lake nearby not long ago. Saddle Lake, I believe it is called." It was both a wholesome and wholly amusing experience; watching a pony who had never so much as dipped their hoof in water suddenly find themselves submerged in it, and then transmuted into a seapony, certainly brings out something new and exciting in a mare. It was like she was a filly again, a splash of color added to the world around them. Snorting a chuckle, her eyes returned to the path ahead, an easy smile on her face. "I think she believes me a seapony now." And then she directed her attention to her new acquaintance. "Tell me, have you ever turned yourself and another into one of those marine miracles? Allow me to inform you that some very exciting shenanigans will ensue. I can't say she was a natural, but the energy with which she moved and breathed in her new environment with almost foal-like wonder was eye-opening. I never would have thought a simple species change could have such a profound impact on a mare."
  2. Rose gently nuzzled her msrefriend and, with a reassuring smile, reassured her that, no, she didn't need to go back for anything. "I think I may have over packed, in fact." She chuckled, gesturing towards the mobile lab she'd brought with her. Soon enough, Scarlett and her crew arrived on that marvel of machinery of hers, a low whistle eminating from the mare as she took it all in. This was happening. "Hey, Tiger ~" She tossed a wink Tiger Blood's way when he arrived, making sure to add the appropriate level of suave to her greeting. "Glad you could make it. We could use some extra muscle onboard." And then there was her titular counterpart... She reached out to help her when she tripped, but the poor, anxious thing was quicker to the punch, rambling on about things that weren't her fault. As Compass came to a close, Rose couldn't help but give her a warm, somewhat humored smile. Filching a non-descript flask from her pile of supplies, she approached the nocturnal mare and gave her a big, warm hug, and a pat on the back. Leaning back, she floated the flask to the mare's lips, popping the quark. Her horn flashed next, and then the light was suddenly much less harsh on Compass's eyes. "We'll be sure to take all of that into account. And yes, I brought plenty of potions for just about every occasion. This one will restore your vigor for a time, and help keep you alert. The spell I cast is an inverted Nightvision spell, it'll help mitigate the sun's intensity."
  3. My my. Perhaps she has a new focus after all? Upon closer inspection, she noticed that there was something... Unique about the eyes of this mare, going beyond the surface. Igniting her horn, she condensed her magic into a rough sphere and slowly waved it before the mare's face, studying her reaction closely. "Understandable. Perhaps, then, another avenue of interest: your eyes. I'm very curious how this condition of yours works. If my mypothesis is correct... " She paused, thinking. Her mind whirled with all the applications of magic sight. If she could replicate the affects through alchemy or magi-tech, she could theoretically cure conventional blindness! From there it'd be a simple matter of improving the formula and rectifying errors in the original design. Oooh she really wanted to share her thoughts with Twilight, get some constructive feedback!
  4. It took a moment, but somepony finally acknowledged her presence. She was pleasantly surprised to find that they shared a similar interest- that being medicine- and smiled brightly at the blind mare. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Ms. Flare. I'm Rose Compass, and no," She snorted a chuckle as Bevel threw in her two cents. "I'm not a ventriloquist, although I may have applicable skills." Depending on your definition of 'pulling strings'. "I'm the local alchemist and apothecary. As for my proposition..." She paused, and looked between the two. She had had some vague plan before, but a new one was brewing in her head now. "Miss Flare, may I ask how long you have had your ophthalmic condition? And have you ever considered... improving it?" Alchemy can do wonders on its own- literal miracles- but alchemy plus technology? That sounds like a perfect combination to her.
  5. Op, and thar she blows! Rose allowed the silly pink pony to finish first, then watched in amusement as she overshot the goal. "You're supposed to stop after the finish line." She said with a few giggled as Aloe was swaddled in a gentle aqua aura and straightened out. Rose approached her with a cautious smile, laying a hoof on her shoulder. "You okay there? You shot off like a torpedo fish!"
  6. Rose decided to give her a five second head start before shooting off like a bullet, carving through the water like an aquatic pegasus to pull up next to Aloe... Then she turn that into a backstroke, gliding upside down with an ecstatic grin. "Feel that current? The rush of power surging through your veins?" She rotated in a corkscrew that had her appear to the other side of Aloe, the lane widening just a bit to allow her to stay within its perimeter as she continued. "It's liberating, is it not? This must be what pegasi feel like up in the clouds, shaping their own paths free of the earth and gravity."
  7. Rose giggled and watched her flexed those tail muscles of hers, situating herself at the appropriate spot. Subtly, the water around Aloe became just a tad bit thinner. This would allow her to manuerver through the water with more ease, and give her a minor speed boost. "I'm sure you will have little trouble." She said as she gracefully arches through the water to be parallel to her. If anypony ever said she wasn't born in the sea, they'd have a hard time proving it. "Just be careful not to overshoot your destination. It's easy to get ahead of yourself when gathering speed." She smiled, then, and twirled her tailfins, tensing up her body like a living spring. "Now then, let us commsense with the race!" "Five... Four Three Two One... " She glanced aside, blowing her a kiss. "Go!"
  8. It was time. Weeks of preparation had led to this moment, the epic sendoff such an occasion warranted. In anticipation of just such a voyage, the alchemist had brought along a veritable smorgasbord of bottles, flasks, and vials brimming with magi-chemical potential. She couldn't possibly ferry so many materials on her person- not within the limited physical space of her saddlebags, at least- and so had... Packed for the trip, as if were. It was fortunate she found an ally in Scarlet, and thus had the option of transporting herself and her miniature lab worth of goods safely. A potion for speed, endurance, stamina, physical prowess and limited regeneration. She had a few more for specific circumstances- contengencies- but she wouldn't name those off before it's time. She waited patiently by a checkpoint of sorts, a patch of open land that Scarlet and her crew could safely land on... Was it really a good idea to try and fly anything over that forest, though? Sure she was looking for something she suspected was grounded, but there were probably winged monsters too. Probably nothing to be too worried about.
  9. Where to indeed. There wasn't any obvious track or route to follow. They could swim the circumference of the lake, following along its sides, but it wasn't a hole in the ground so that may not work out as intended either. Eventually, she came up with a decent idea, her horn lighting up as a 'lane' of ice crystals sprouted into existence, forming two parallel lines of frozen spheres far enough apart to give the two plenty of room to navigate themselves within its perimeter. "There, this should work!" She clapped her hooves together, radiating pride at her work. "We will simply follow this lane to its conclusion. The first one to reach the end wins." And, secretely, she'd try and help Aloe out as much as she could. She really did have a rather unfair advantage over her, both in form and in experience.
  10. Rose nodded, then looked around the lake's basin. There was a lot of sand- that much was to be expected. Some mud and aquatic grassy plants... Small fish zipped by here and there, and she briefly considered trying to catch some before she realized she didn't have anyplace to put them if she caught them. Not and keep them preserved, at least. In the end, she ended up looping around in lazy circles, thinking. "Well this isn't like the sea where we may encounter a sunken ship or lost cargo... Maybe a sunken boat?" She seemed to ask the question more to herself than Aloe, pausing upside down with a hoof to her chin. "Hmm... If you really think about it, we're already safe and secluded. I don't expect any other ponies to suddenly sprout tails and come down here." She chuckled. "We could always give these tail muscles a little workout. How does a friendly race sound?"
  11. @Cubbage yeah, man, we're all chill here! (Also, were you trying to reply to me?)
  12. What a silly question. Ponies didn't need to worry about predators, not when seaponies were natural hunters. What else were they going to use for sustenance down there, kelp? With a small, warm smile, Rose dove the rest of the way underwater, her transformation only truly completing once she had been completely submerged; now her features were much more leonine, sporting a collar of fins around her neck that fanned out, and the general anatomy of a lion fish asides from her equine portions. She grinned, feeling her heart beat faster as she followed after her beloved into the clear, cool depths. "You're really excited about this," she noted with some amusement. "What are we going to do when we find our nice and secluded spot?"
  13. Unlike other, more crude forms of transmogrification, this transition was smooth, like shedding one's skin to find a new, polished surface underneath; as Aloe imbibed the alchemical concoction (which may or may not have included what she thought it did), her hind legs would disappear in a cloud of milky magic, a powerful piscine tail taking its place with a majestic blue fin crowning her new muscular addition. "About five hours, give or take." She pointed towards the boat- which had settled again in their a sense. "Although the second potion is a precaution, incase we decide to stay a little longer than anticipated." A knowing smile graced her lips, and she splashed the pink pony again, giggling. "I can't say you look any worse either. Give those scales a little polish and some buffing and you'll really shine ~"

    Hi?

Hit me up sometime about the D&D thing. I may not be a fan of the normal version, but ponies make everything better ~ By a factor of 20%
  15. There was something so calming about traversing nature, whether it be the lush beauty of nature or the mercurial sea. She found that it let her mind wander without inducing anxiety, aimless thoughts drifting to the surface of her mind just to dissipate moments later. It was perhaps an unusual detail that she was not laden down with an excessive entourage of magical chemicals and reagents, the bags lightly bouncing against her hips sagging with releif. "So I made some modifications to those socks," she said as they walked, peeking through the illuminates gaps in the verdant canopy above. "It took some tinkering, but I think I found a workaround to prevent unnecessary discharge."
  16. This Ponyville was just full of surprises! Rose chuckled. "Indeed I beleive I am. Playful creatures, those, and remarkably adept at the art of transformation." In a flash of light only slightly offcolor from the water around them, the lower half of Rose's body suddenly became a lot less mammalian. "Not nearly as good as I, but a close second ~" She winked, nudging the flask a little closer to the mare as she tongued her cheek. "You may find it tastes quite pearlescent. But don't worry, it's already been tested. The affects should last well before we intend to leave."
  17. Rose's heart warmed when Aloe brought up potions. In so short a time, it seems they've gotten to know each other so we'll. "Who said anything about doing it in public?" She grinned, floating over one of the silvery flasks. The mercury-looking fluid within gently sloshed against itd glass confined as it swam in an aqua glow, refracting the sunlight overhead in a rainbow cascade. "I'll do you one better. Have you, per chance, heard of hippogriffs?" She asked, as she floated the flask over to the pretty pony, uncorking the top with caution.
  18. "Waaagh!" SPLASH! A wide eye'd Rose Compass briefly flailed, then bobbed at the surface with a gasp and a giggle. "Aloe!" She shrieked, splashing the brazen mare. The water was cool, but not too cool. The perfect temperature for a swim- and Rose, being what she was, was perfectly comfortable in this new environment. In just a matter of seconds, she was maintaining her place on the surface as if she were peddling on air, and most of that prior tension simply bled into the depths. "If you wanted to get wet, there were easier ways, you know ~" she snorted a laugh, bringing a hoof up to her lips with a coy sort of look.
  19. Together forever... Aloe's words were a balm to the poor mare's nerves, and she found her sorrows draining in short time as the pink pony embraced her. Rose sniffled and pulled back, wiping her nose in a remarkable unladylike fashion, smiling at Aloe calmly. "That's good to hear, it seems my fears were largely unfounded." Rubbing her shoulder, she chuckled, eyes a little red but overall, the mare seemed little worse for wear. "But if we do move... Your spa... Are you really okay with leaving it behind?" She'll have to convene with Twilight soon, hash out a more beneficial arrangement that keeps them both nearby. She'd hate to tear Aloe away from her passion, even if they may be able to open up a new one in Canterlot.
  20. Oh my, was that a Itailian dish? She wasn't expecting to see any familiar cuisine this far away from home, but as usual these Equestrians have surprised her. With noticeably more zeal than the previous courses, the green mare dug into her meal, savoring the spice and broth, and the creamy soup. She really needed this. My... Plans? She hadn't really thought about what she might be doing if not pushing her own agenda. Asides from pursuing her research into a solution for mortality she supposed she planned on... Mmmhh... Raising a family. She'd have said 'raising her brood' but she wasn't quite ready to come out of the closet yet. I couldn't ask for a better mate ~ she continues, nuzzling her love with palpable affection. Our foals will carry on my legacy, and together we will achieve everything we set out to do. "If I may interject," she said, this time aloud, "from my observations, she actually approaches her duties with a very professional attitude. She's hosting a meeting with the Wildlife Control Committee soon to address the issue of the Everfree. I proposed we set up a fence around the perimeter of the forest and cover it with repellent, but I'm certain others may have their own ideas."
  21. Oh, the mare that's judging is alive and well, but... Maybe... It doesn't matter so much after all? She's trying to be different. No, she is different. She may be cut from the same cloth, but she's inked herself a different shade. Hearing those impassioned words come from this pony... She could feel the edges of her eyes burning with tears. It was all she could do to embrace her, quietly sobbing into her coat while murmuring 'thank you' as much as she could. She didn't deserve a mare as loving and forgiving as Aloe, but here she was. She was hers... And Rose was Aloe's. An inseperable union. Even the boat seemed to join in, rocking side to side, cradling the two mares as they sorted out their feelings.
  22. It pleased Rose immensely to hear that she was using the socks- and that she appreciates the gesture. Any excuse to- *ahem.* She focused on spreading the goo out evenly across her back, listening intently to the rest of what she said while throwing in a little massage practice for good measure. Her hooves froze, however, when Aloe delivered one particular line: 'perfect in every way.' "... " Rose's ears flicked back, and her breathing became a little less steady as she tried- and failed- to process the feelings those words evoked. Perfect? Her? Yes, she's trying to be better than her past self, but that doesn't change the fact that all of the blood that mare spilt is still on her hooves. Countless lives lost to the mad machinations of a mare who had nothing left to lose, and the will to reach past the boundaries for something she can never touch again. a light tremble rose in her limbs as she slowly retracted her hooves, swallowing thickly as she attempted to formulated a response without sounding choked up. "Aloe..." The machines. The tests. Souls and sirens, liches, death, death, death- The boat rocked as Rose forcefully reigned in her runaway thoughts, releasing them through a long and steady breath before she continued with a slightly more somber note. "I'm no perfect pony, Aloe. I can try to be one, but I can never be one." Maybe... Their goals can be perfect, though. Ubmelished. Unsoiled. They will be so much more, and so much better than she ever was. She'll make sure of it.
  23. All positives. Good. Maybe this place will prosper after all. "Alchemy will help them grow, the enchantment will keep the pests away. Without further assessing the condition of your crops and fields, that's all I can offer as of now. I'm not really a professional gardner- I simply apply my strong suit to something I'm not proficient in to compensate." And it made sense to her. Gardening properly, to her, fielded the same results- if not inferior results- compared to her own form of cultivation. Feeling that her job here was nearing its conclusion, she began to pack up her supplies, her miniature makeshift lab swiftly disappearing into her bags, microspells going off here and there to clean and sterilize them- and, of course, she bottled a couple more samples of the soil for later study, just incase. "If there are any of fields you beleive alchemy may be applicable in, I'm receptive to suggestions." She said as she stood up, looking down over the rolling plains. "I'm also adept at wizardry, if your ponies need any tutelage, Miss Cemmoyāhua. Although most of my knowledge is offensive or utility."
  24. Rose easily caught it in her aura, turning it around to study it with a curious look. "Fitting. Did you use the new socks I gave you?" She asked, as a glob of the stuff squirted out into a floating orb of viscous fluid that dispersed itself all over her body. A few dollops of the substance split off and flew towards Aloe's ears, dancing at the very tippity tips like playful sprites before- very carefully- soaking into the sensitive skin there. "I still need to collect more data on them to make improvements to the design." She smiled, then, and took another glob of sunscreen in her hoof this time. It wasn't a waste. She'd used the most efficient amount possible to cover key areas of her body, and she suspected Aloe would do the same- but earth ponies have trouble reaching their back, so Rose thought she'd offer her... Assistance.
  25. It was a surprisingly pleasant day for a swim, and even better for a day on the lake. The waters were calm, clear, and cool to the touch- not oppressively so, either. It was just right. This is how two ponies found themselves, bobbing on a clumsy little craft. Rose did her best to keep it steady when it decided to be unruly, and it hadn't thrown them into the drink yet, so clearly they were doing something right. "So," Rose said as she steadied the vessel, relinquishing it from her aura so they could float easy. "Have you ever been on the water?" Unlike any other time, where the alchemist was laden down with an excessive amount of equipment and just a touch of scientific madness, all she opted to bring with her on this trip were two milky grey flasks, shimmering with chromatic light where the sun touched them.
