  1. try this i pulled from sonic rainboom.

    fluttershycheer.jpg

When Fluttershy is sitting down, her wings arent even visible. This is strange, but I can only guess that it's because they are folded and the animators decided it was a good excuse to not draw them, provided that her wing extrematies grew out of her back, and none of her side.

In any event, it looked good from the viewers point.

When she was jumping up and down, she was not 'sitting' but I can imagine her sitting like that in midair. I hope these help.

  2. Granola Gracie and Carrot Fields are going to be going to the Gala, and Carrot is providing his wagon to take the trip to Canterlot from Ponyville.

If you are interested in joining this party, please provide the character and a possible mini-backstory on how they got grouped with these ponies (e. g. How they got their dress, how they are going to get there, etc.)

  3. Granola began galloping towards Luna and the ponies who were talking to her. As she got closer, she could overhear the slightly awkward gestures the ponies were throwing at Luna, while Luna played the nervous game herself and relayed the social anxiety back to them. Granola was pretty good at detecting anxiety, but only because she struggled with it so much herself. Granola had trapped herself so many times before with words that she spoke but shouldn't have.

Granola began to smell the fragrances of Canterlot-grown roses and tulips. Her love for plants had adapted her the ability to sense these things from greater distance that most other ponies. Granola began daydreaming about the garden again and wondered what it would be like inside those royal gates. She imagined the future where a befriended Luna would walk her into the garden walkway and give her the tour of the courtyard. And in between the moments of being taken by the pure pleasantry of the plant life, she and Luna would look at each other with the look that says, 'were going to be best friends forever.'

Granola blinked herself back into the real world and suddenly noticed her proximity to Luna. Her gallop had been turned into a full sized run because of the loss of concentration. Luna was only hooves away when Granola realized how close she really was. She could see Luna's eyes lock to her's as she noticed this brown-colored earth pony hauling haunch right at her. Granola leaned back on her hooves and tried to stop herself as soon as she could. Her momentum caused her hooves to pick up dirt and dust from the constantly-trampled pathway. Some of the dirt was kicked up on Luna's bright blue hooves.

The moment Granola finally came to a stop, a guilty look of regret filled her body language. She knew she had to apologize, for it wasn't even an option at this point. But the overwhelming amount of nervousness kept her mouth from ever opening. About five long seconds past and she still said nothing as the silence grew.

I should have just gone home she thought to herself.

Granola's facial expressions responded sensitively to Tempest's explanation. She knew that it wasn't right to judge others by their appearance, something the entire community of Ponyville had learned about Zecora some time ago. So Granola decided to break the invisible social barrier that separated the Ponyvillians from the hippocamp and newly acquainted pegasus. "Hi. My name is Granola Gracie. Sorry if I alienated you there for a second." Granola smiled gleefully and for at least a second provided a friendly persona. "You're kind of a fish out of water." Granola regretted saying the last sentence the moment it came out of her mouth. She immediately understood that her unintentional pun would not go unnoticed and she was sure Aqua would take offense to a fish joke.

This wasn't the first time Granola's mouth got her into trouble. Her short meditation on her social blunder controlled her eyes as she took notice at Aqua's appearance at a closer distance. She was close enough to see the individual size of Aqua's scales and the full length of her tail fin. "So... you like to swim?" Granola was trying to break the ice, but it was like picking apart an iceberg with a toothpick for her. She gave a cheesy smile and tried to prevent Aqua and Tempest from 'getting the wrong idea'.

  5. I have recently self taught myself on how to create attractive animated GIFs. These are pretty cool for avatars, signatures, and sometimes serve a multimedia purpose.

Here are some examples I have made that come from pony episodes:

spikewave1.gif(THIS ONE IS UP FOR GRABS IF SOMEPONY WANTS IT. It meets avatar dimensions.

    wail.gif

    stomp.gif

    innocenttwilight.gif

    graciecustomprofile-1.gif

    bestnightever1.gif

If you would like a customized animated gif, feel free to post a request. Here are the details I'll need:

    - Video you want it pulled from, including timestamps

    - Purpose of the animation (avatar, sig, etc.)

    - A good description of how you want it to loop, and/or your expectations

If anybody else who knows how to make simple animated GIF files wants to create their own versions of a request, feel free to give it a shot. I'd like to make this an open thread for anypony who wants to get their hooves wet.

For beginners, it's important to know that an animated GIF is just a series of GIFs put together, like a flipbook, if you will. So an animated GIF doesn't have to be a 'video' per-say. It can simply be a slideshow of a few pictures.

A freeware (up to 20 uses) that I sometimes use is Easy GIF Animator. You can download the trial here.

  6. Thank you for the input.

I tried to pace it well without making it too structured. Sometimes, I resorted to slant rhyme to prevent using words that don't apply at all.

I figured as long as I could continue some sort of rhythm, the reader would be able to read it properly. I'm not a big fan of poems that rhyme, most of mine are very abstract and use line arrangement.

There are a few lines I'm not 100% satisfied with, so your input is invaluable. I'm gonna let this poem simmer with more feedback until I try to change some it, though.

    I'm glad you enjoyed it.

20:45 - 20:46 just want the part where she is blinking looking down at the necklace looped if that's okay.

its kind of hard to loop with those stinkin foals in the way

Because Luna's eyes were the only thing that was moving, I was able to edit out her eye animations and paste them onto other frames where the pegasus foals weren't ruining the shot. You didnt specify demensions, so I cropped it to a 150 X 150, which is the limits for avatars on this forum. It also does not exceed the kb limit.

As an added bonus, I made a few run thoroughs of her blinks and copied them to make them look staggered (and more natural). It was fun and easy making this one. Your welcome! :D

  8. [ Pony Related Character ]

Name: Arrow Plain; Nickname: Arpy (by friends and teachers) (Also refers to herself as Silent Storm when she jumps into her sneak suit. See below for details on this alias)

    Sex: Female

    Age: Filly (Young Teenager)

    Species: Unicorn

    Pelt Color: Kodak Yellow

Mane/Tail Color & Style: Happy blue and happy green in 3 sections

    Eye Color: Light Blue

    Cutie Mark: Horseshoe with wings

    Physique: Average

    Residence: Appleloosa

    Occupation: Schoolfilly

Motivation: Arrow Plain's motivation in life is to be able to fly, even though her natural ability keeps her from doing so. More importantly, she is motivated by the existence of her parents being somewhere in the sky because that is where she believes she came from before being adopted by an Appleloosa family.

Likes: Adventuring, flying, pretending to fly, day-dreaming of flying, challenges.

Dislikes: Being called by her real name 'Arrow Plain', taking baths, sitting still, being made fun of for her aspirations.

Character Summary: Arrow was raised by Buffalo after being found in the desert left for dead. She doesn't remember anything from before the day the buffalo found her mostly because she was too young. They named her Arrow Plain, after the location they found her at and the appearance they at one time believed to be an arrow stuck in her head. Arrow would later resent this name because of how silly it sounds and because she believes she has a different real name.

As she got older, the buffalo learned of her natural adventurous personality and was always wandering off and putting herself in dangerous positions. When a group of settler ponies set up camp at what would become Appleloosa, Arrow wandered again and fell off a cliff breaking her leg. The buffalo decided that she would be better off with her own kind and gave her to the authorities of Appleloosa. There, she discovered other ponies and got to know them well. At the local general store, she met a stallion that became her friend. One day, he gave her a golden horseshoe and claimed that it gives good fortune to the pony who possesses it.

Her foster parents try hard to love her and look out for her, but her natural tendencies to fend for herself gets her into a lot of trouble. One time, she tried to convince a young weak pegasus pony at school that he could fly, and nearly injured him because of her dare.

After being grounded for her antics, she threw a tantrum in her room and rashly tossed the golden horseshoe out the window. Before it even hit the ground, a large bird grabbed it and began flying off. Worried that she may not find it again, Arrow Plain escaped through the window and ran into the desert where the bird was going. Just as she thought she was losing sight of the bird, she saw it drop the horseshoe from high in the sky. As it fell, Arrow tried to reach the end of its trajectory before it fell to the ground and jumped for it.

As it turned out, she jumped into a canyon that was many hundred hooves deep. When Arrow's life flashed before her eyes, she saw one moment that she did not recall. She saw in her mind's eye, a moment where she and her parents where resting peacefully in a cloudy realm. Just before she fell to the canyon bottom, a Wonderbolt rescued her from certain death. It was this near death experience that she received her cutie mark. As she got home and dealt with her worrisome guardians, she understood that her wish to fly was not just a wish, but her purpose. And she knew that if she could find away to soar in the clouds, she would be that much closer to finding her real parents.

She believes that her parents live in the sky and that for some reasons unknown she was abandoned in the desert by accident. Her cutie mark represents her ability and purpose to continue to reach for the sky, both figuratively and literally. Her purpose in life is mostly driven by, but is not limited to, finding her real parents.

For a deeper look at her backstory, read 'When All Falls: The Arrow Plain Story'

Arrow Plain isn't a Cast character, but I thought I would outline a few things that involve canon:

    - Arrow Plain was raised by buffalo before Appleloosa was founded.

    - It cannot be confirmed which specific buffalo cared for her.

    - Arrow Plain was given to the Appleloosans shortly after they arrived.

    - It wasn't until later that the Appleloosans created an apple orchard, asked for tree donations from other distant communities (Bloomberg), and started the land dispute with the buffalo shortly before the first harvest of the apple trees.

    - She experienced the events of "Over a Barrel" from the Appleloosan side, which put her in a strange position, since she has 'family' on both sides of the land dispute.

Poison Joke Symptom: Her legs shrink to the size of just her hooves. Her tiny steps become the demise of this adventurous pony. She has yet to experience this, since poison joke doesn't grow well in the desert.

    NEW!

Silent Storm: Arrow refers to herself as Silent Storm when she wears a sneak suit she keeps hidden in her bottom dresser drawer. Arrow is a pretty sneaky filly when it comes to causing trouble and avoiding conflict with adults who will surely foil her flight schedule. But she feels that wearing this costume makes her invisible. She may look cool in it, and almost carry with her a Batman look to it, but she is the same troublesome filly in it. More than anything, this costume is a ballad to her creative imagination than it is the reality of her becoming a vigilante.

  9. So I was thinking about something:

Apparently, whatever planet Equestria is on, the moon should always be at a full state if it is opposite the sun. But the moon isn't always at a full state. This means that the Equestrian moon, much like our moon, has different phases throughout the weeks because of it's proximity to the earth and sun.

This means that Luna doesn't always appear when the sun sets. For a pretty large portion of the moon phases, the moon can be shown in the sky during the daytime. So, Luna wouldn't have to be so lonely.

But as the show indicates, the moon seems to show only at night. This means that the moon orbits the earth in the same time that the earth orbits the sun, right? I'm not astronomer, but I think it would be impossible. I believe planet satellites have to orbit their planet at a certain rate in order to not succumb to the gravity of the sun, pulling it closer to the center of the solar system.

Of course, since the magic of the alicorns is what makes these things happen anyway, you wonder why they couldn't fudge the numbers to have it make sense. Is Trollestia tricking her sister into thinking that the moon can only show during the day? Probably.

  10. I would say that horn is a wand in itself. Perhaps a fan fiction where witches try to hunt unicorns for their magic horns is in order 0___o.

I always think of Equestrian magic as more of a mind-bending thing. Any chants or words spoken usually pertain to an evil or black magic. Also, Zecora had her own chants, but they were later revealed to be just 'nursery rhymes'
