I drove home for lunch today and discovered that someone was stealing my electricity with an extension cord to my exterior outlet. What is the appropriate response? I'm not sure but by the time i got back to work I was pretty sure that tying 7 knots in his chord around a pole was over-reacting.

So then he can just plug it back in? If he's willing to steal your electricity he doesn't seem like the type of person to take a hint and stop the first time around.

See, that's the thing...I'm not 100% sure that he knew that what he was doing was rude. I've seen people innocently/thoughtlessly make this mistake before. Maybe one knot around the pole might have gotten the point across. What does mangling his chord say? It turns him from a rude person into a victim. One that might retaliate?
