  1. "I-I;m so sorry, Princess please fergive me!...I-I guess there really isn't an excuse for that... I-I just was really eager ta meet ya and well you're even more awesome up close is all!"

Rather instantly Celestia obtained the result that she was aiming for. The flustered mare was rather cute and flattered the princess to try and get back into her good graces. Celestia was going to end the joke when Blueblood chimed in and added fuel to the fire. This made it all the more interesting, and Celetia decided to go with it a bit further than she was expecting. It was fine though, she wasn't genuinely angry and she didn't mind Presteza painting her, which would probably make this little joke worthwhile for her.

"It's true, you know," He said, joining in on his aunt's little game with a sympathetic look, "She is all about courtesy, and doesn't tolerate any exceptions. Ask me how I know."

Celestia smiled, looking at Blueblood. "Yes, my nephew, you would know quite well how strict I am about courtesy." She looked at him sternly. "However you are not the target for my reprimand right now, it is this mare." Celestia looked at Presteza again, as she spoke again.

"Ri-right... sorry ta have bothered you, yer highnesses..."

Celestia was desperate to hold back her smile, she didn't want to ruin it before. "I only have one thing left to say to you, miss Presteza." Celestia said as she slowly cantered closer to the young mare. When she got close enough she lowered her head so that she would be closer to the mares face, looking rather stern like she was going to put the final nail in the coffin for being so demanding. Then out of no where, Celestia grinned and said in a rather happy, slightly quiet, energetic voice "Gotcha!" She lifted her head up and took a couple of hoofsteps back. She looked at Presteza grinning. "To be completely serious with you, I personally don't make such appointments. You would have to go through the proper channels at the Canterlot Court." Celestia began to explain to the young mare. "I can however tell the court to be expect a formal request from you." Celestia may be a prankster, but she wouldn't deny a mare her dream when it was such a simple request as a painting.

  2. My personal favorite is 0080. You can't beat a character-driven story with that much impact, in my eyes- though 8th was quite good, too. It's hard to go wrong with UC OVA, actually.

Thank you, everypony, for the kind words. :)

That actually ranks a very close second for me. You have good taste sir.

  3. If changelings are innocent, why do they tolerate the existence of twisted villains like Snively?

They clearly don't. Why else would the Queen send him after a powerful magic user and her pet fox? And why would a fellow changeling look upon the mauling with glee not helping at all? I think they, like most other societies view early termination of life as a high crime. This much is obvious.

  4. *necromances thread*

I think we are a little off-topic here. I suspect that Rosewind herself is a Changeling.

Clearly it is not Rosie. It is now evident from recent events that Phil Raridash Rarity, is in fact the changeling of Canterlot. The evidence is clear. And he isn't a bad guy, ergo, changelings are innocent. We have come full circle.

  5. Celestia was pleased that her nephew was so receptive to her words. Though, like usual he had a retort.

"Yes," He muttered in acknowledgment, "But that doesn't mean she's a good kisser."

Celestia chuckled at his worry of her not being a 'good kisser.' "I am certain that after kissing so many ponies, Applejack has become more than proficient at it." Celestia replied to Blueblood's worries with a certain 'as a matter of a fact' tone. Celestia didn't like judging ponies before knowing, especially presumptions bothered her. They seemed common place with her nephew though, which though not bad, was certainly a product of his sheltered upbringing. Celestia always aimed to bring him further away from that and out of his comfort zone. Celestia considered making a jest to his luck, or rather misfortune with mares, but felt it would be in mean spirits to bring up such things. "Perhaps if you enter into this with an open mind, you will enjoy it more than you are anticipating, my nephew." Celestia decided to lay the matter to rest with some wise words rather than a joke or something that might be construed in the wrong way.

"That was... surprisin' yer highness... I wish ya'd given me a bit o' warnin' though! ... So fer that, you gotta let me paint ya one day when I make my dream come true!"

Well this was rather bold! Celestia began to smirk with an almost devilish grin at the mare's reaction to her playful gesture. Celestia was no stranger to ponies wishing to paint or draw her, in fact she has since lost count of how many depictions of her there were floating around Equestria. However, most didn't demand she allow them to paint her for something she had done. Though she really didn't mind sitting for a bit to allow this mare to paint her, she decided she'd have a bit of fun first.

Celestia straightened up from leaning in after hearing the demand, and wiped her smile from her face. She looked down on Presteza with a stern look. "Though I have been painted many times, most have not been so bold as to demand my cooperation." Celestia began in a seemingly disappointed voice. "Most [by which the princess inferred all] painters and artists saw it proper to politely request I be the subject of one of their works of art. I strongly suggest you remember common courtesy. It is usually met much better than frivolous demands." Celestia didn't really have a problem allowing the mare to paint her at some point when her schedule allowed, but this was a good way to not only have a bit of fun, but also drive home an important lesson in humility.

"Oh, I should have introduced myself first," Carrot Top said blushing at the fact that the way she greeted the Princess was more like how she greeted a long time friend than a pony of importance, "I'm Carrot Top, owner of a carrot farm in Ponyville. It's a small farm, nowhere near as big as Sweet Apple Acres, but I make do. Oh, speaking of carrots, would you like to try some baby carrots? I know you must be here for the apples like i am, but I always bring carrots in case a pony gets hungry. They're really sweet, like candy."

The orange maned mare finally introduced herself. Celestia gave a bow of her head "It is a pleasure to meet you Carrot Top." Celestia began as she was offered carrots by the young mare. "I would love to try some of your baby carrots. Perhaps I shall even bring some back with me to Canterlot Castle if they are as good as you claim." Celestia said with a slight wink and smile. Celetia always liked to support local farmers, after all that is why she was at the Apple farms in line to be kissed.

Just then her nephew was over come with a coughing fit, something which would not look good by any means. Celestia smirked as she looked at him. "Are you alright, nephew?" Celestia inquired, both with genuine concern and a bit of a playful tone since she knew he would be self conscious about it. "If you would like I could ask one of the guards to fetch you some water. Or perhaps Applejack has some cider or apple juice on hand." Celestia offered to help her nephew rather in earnest, but was unsure if he would accept her help and just send for it himself.

  6. I actually already have a few character sheets of oc's I've made, but the skeleton for them isn't all that similar. One question though, does the coat color, eye color etc, HAVE to be included in the application even if I have an image of my characters?

Yes. It demonstrates ability to describe, an important aspect of RPing. Anyone can post a picture and say "it looks like this." But it takes a bit of effort and creativity to create a picture with only words.

    Also. Welcome to canterlot!

  7. Buffalo - Nomads of the Plain

    jnyaTBq.png?1

Buffalo are typically nomadic tribes as part of a larger community. Most buffalo tribes do not communicate with their other tribes other than for the occasional trade. Some smaller tribes have settled and become farmers, but for the most part they are nomadic gatherers who give back what they take from the land. Those tribes that are still nomadic usually have traditional paths known as “stampeding grounds,” that they have used for many generations.

The structure of the tribe is very simple with a chieftain sitting at the top. The position is often passed down in lineage. The other positions of the tribe are often built upon tradition, there are those that are in charge of history and stories, maintaining camp, and naturally gathering and replanting the food they had gathered after. There are also craft based jobs, such as pottery and headdress makers, as well as the food preparers. The buffalo believe very strongly in the land, and whatever they take they put back. They are also very peaceful, choosing to often discuss their problems if the opportunity presents itself rather than take any other action.

But let's talk about the buffalo themselves. like their habits what they are like and their special attributes. Buffalo are in general very stocky and muscular with horns for both males and females, though the males tend to be bigger and have bigger horns. It should be noted that buffalo calves do not have horns but they start to develop when they reach adolescence. But one shouldn’t let their size mislead, they tend to be very agile and very fast, which may surprise most ponyfolk. One could hypothesize that it is due to their natural lifestyle and constant moving about. They also sometimes wear traditional face paints and feathered headdresses (though more often the feathered headdress, with the chieftain wearing usually a more elaborate headdress). Their coats aren’t as extravagant as pony coats either. They are very rough and rugged looking, often being earthy colors, rather than colorful pastels. Their coats also get longer and more shaggy in winter months.

Overall the buffalo have a rich and vibrant culture that is heavily tied to the land they live off of. The land provides for them and in turn, they protect the land. To them, family, the tribe and the land are all held in high regard and all three are treated with the utmost respect and care.

  8. Celestia had no intention to stand on ceremony for her well deserved vacation. It wasn't often that she could get away from the castle and her responsibilities, she even made it a point to leave her crown and all her royal regalia back at the small room she was staying in. Despite this she was sure to have a few ponies refuse to forego the usual pleasantries that she was usually afforded in Canterlot or any official (or even unofficial) meetings. However the first pony to approach her made no such effort.

"Oh my goodness!" She perked then, wings opening with a pomf "It's real nice to meet you Celestia!" And Harvest was moving over quickly to offer the Princess her hoof "I'm such a fan of yer work! It's so beautiful to see you paint a masterpiece in the sky every morning! Even when I was little I'd get up early to watch it!

The young mare in the scarf seemed rather excited to meet the Princess of the Sun, even her body language was excited with her wings opening with a burst almost like she was ready to fly. She even made a point to compliment Celestia and her sunrises. "The pleasure is mine." As Celestia shook the mare's extended hoof "And I thank you for your kind words, but I cannot say that what I do every morning is as artistic as painting. The sun is a thing of beauty itself and does not need my help to shine and paint the sky every morning. In a way, the Sun is the artist, and I am it's humble assistant." Celestia replied humbly to the mare's compliments. She was the Sun's guide, and just as she cannot take credit for another pony's achievements, she cannot take away from the majestic beauty of the sun. It would be akin to saying the gorgeous landscape before them was her doing because she allowed it to be.

There was another pegasus as well, whom barely made a sound towards Celestia. All she could make out was an "Ah" and some whispers to the mare that had just greeted her. Celestia was used to this, but she had hoped that the country air would have relaxed her and those around her to allow everypony to at least talk with some ease to her. She supposed that some were just naturally nervous around royalty, something that she could understand. There were still ponies in Canterlot who would clam up upon her mere passing, let alone talking to any pony.

"MISS Harvest Moon every single time ya know?" Harvest nodded before glancing at the Princess again "Course if I am incorrect in my assumption I do apologize Ma'am"

Celestia let out a chuckle at Harvest Moon's thought process. "I assure you miss Harvest Moon, had you done something wrong, I would not be shy in letting you know" Celestia said with a wink, clearly being a bit sarcastic with the "miss" bit. She wasn't sure what to call the mare, however she figured 'Harvest' would do for the time being though. And if she preferred another name Celestia hoped she wouldn't be shy to let her know. Though there was always the chance that some ponies would consider correcting a princess a grave faux pas. "I've left my crown behind, and so, for now, I'm not a princess, just a mare on vacation. Of course if anypony is more comfortable calling me a princess, I would not impose to tell them what to call me by." Celestia said with a smile.

"Nice to finally meet you, Celestia." Thunder said with a a wave and warm smile that filled a pony with joy and comfort.

"It is nice to meet you as well..." Celestia trailed off unsure of what to call this newest pony to greet her. She was happy though, most ponies around her were at least comfortable enough to know that she too was on vacation and not acting as a princess. Even royalty needs time off from being royalty after all.

  9. Celestia always seemed to attract attention where ever she went. She had only briefly been there and had already garnered the attention of almost the entire line. Celestia wished she could greet everypony and talk with them as well, but she knew it wouldn't be so easy, especially with those further ahead. After all, this was Applejack's time, she didn't want to distract from the farm mare and disrupt sales.

"Sorry yer highness... I just never got ta see ya up close before, and your here to kiss apples too? I'm here cause well... I wound up fergettin' ta eat or buy food again so I saw that banner back down the road that said we 'ad ta kiss all apples we bought er somethin'"

Celestia smiled "It is quite alright; there is no need to apologize for being nervous." Celestia tried to comfort the already nervous painter. "Kiss apples?" Celestia gave a chuckle. "I am here to buy some apples the same as you, only my reasons are slightly different from yours." Celestia explained to Presteza. "And I do believe the kissing part of the sign is to kiss Applejack when you buy a bushel, not the apples themselves."

The golden tan mare laughed nervously," Erm... honestly I'd say a kiss from the princess as an honor if anythin'! but c'mon she wouldn't kiss some random traveling painter like m-- er wait a second did ya say "too"? "
"Oh, yes. She's not one to be left out of things, you know? After all, we are in line to have an apple farmer kiss us. She could hardly refuse you, after that."

Celestia saw that Blueblood was trying to do with Presteza. Celestia had originally joined the line to get Blueblood to lighten up and relax, and it seemed he was to a point. However, he was still being elitist, which Celestia hoped he would be less so after this, seeing everypony as equal. With the line about the apple farmer Celestia decided needing addressing. She looked at Blueblood rather sternly and rather embarrass him directly she opted to whisper a light chide in his ear. "You speak like there is something wrong with apple farmers, or farmers in general. Always remember that without farmers you would starve as well, my nephew."

However that left Presteza who seemed to be put off, and in the interest of getting her a bit more relaxed Celestia thought of a way to either embarrass her or get her to laugh at herself. She smiled "However, if that is what Miss Presteza would like I think I might be able to do something to accommodate her." Celestia wasn't planning on kissing any pony, after all, it was Applejack giving the kisses, not the other way around, so Celestia puckered her lips and leaned over towards Presteza. She moved in slowly making it seem like she was going to kiss her, and instead of kissing she blew into her ear.

Celestia's fun was interrupted by another greeting.

"Hello there Princess Celestia," Carrot Top said giving an awkward bow in her presence, clearly showing the farm pony was not used to being in the presence of a royal pony.

Celestia bowed her head to the orange maned pony. "Hello to you as well. I do not believe we have met before." Celestia said with a warm inviting smile.

"Howdy Princess!" Applejack waved informally from a far, giving attention to her as a gift of acknowledgement. "Ya'll stay right where you are in line, I'll get to you eventually!"

Applejack yelled over the line to greet Celestia. Not wishing to disrupt anything more, Celestia gave a nod of acknowledgement to the greeting and the instruction to stay where she was in line. After all, it would be rude to use her status to move forward in the line. Celestia knew full well she could, even if she merely asked the ponies ahead of her to allow her to move ahead of them. However that would only serve to disprove to her nephew that status can get you what you want. This was not the point of the excursion to Sweet Apple Acres after all. It was almost like Applejack knew her alternative purpose for coming to her apple sale with her nephew.
