  2. Marionette couldn't help but continue a slight grin in the corner. So far, everything was going according to plan. And why shouldn't it? Twas her plan, after all. Though, to be honest, she wasn't expecting quite a crowd to gather as it had, but if anything that simplified the process. Took a whole lot of waiting out, though, at this point, she was a little torn. On one hoof, the quicker you accomplish the task, the less likely you are to get caught. On the other hoof, they crowd was watching her talent! How can you not be a little proud to draw in such a crowd with a (she chuckled mentally at the pun) charade so elegantly simply? If any pony were standing next to her - which as far as she could tell nopony was - they might have possible heard the slightest mutter emanate from the red unicorn. That whisper would have almost certainly sounded like "I could probably make a days worth of honest pay right now... but... then again... I could make a week's worth of dishonest pay as well. C'est la vie, I suppose." With that, phase two of her plan was put into action. Right next too her, a small grey figurine nonchalantly rose up as the bedazzled puppet started dancing about in an even more distracting fashion, doing cartwheels and flips. Scanning out the crowd, Marionette looked for some more isolated ponies. If she went directly for the main group, one could lose sight of her grey puppet. You can't really rob what you can't really see after all. From a brief scan, Charade found two particularly good places to start: One a white unicorn with fiery hair and sunglasses standing a distance away, the other a dark Pegasus cut off from the show by a crowd. After neighing - excuse her - weighing her options, she decided to go for Mr. Sunglasses. Someone with shades that fancy must have a few bits to spare, not to mention he seemed much more aware of her jeweled marionette, and therefore much more distracted by it. The aura around her horn grew ever so slightly brighter as the grey puppet sitting next to her slowly started trotting towards the intended mark. It blended in with the street very well, and everypony was already so intently focused. It took perhaps a minute or two (any faster and she risked detection) but eventually the second puppet snuck behind Mr. Sunglasses and extended a careful hoof in preparation for a pickpocket attempt. Meanwhile, the first puppet did a particularly distracting maneuver. Despite her confidence, Marionette always found herself holding her breath on the first mark.
  3. Why must google+ aggravate me so? Its a fine site - I have no problems with it - but leave Youtube out of it. Blegh.

      Yeah. Nobody wants you Goggle+!

  4. The streets of Canterlot always tended to be a busy place. Everyday, it seemed as thought the streams of ponies in the streets would never end as they went to their jobs, or stores, or favorite cafes. There was hardly ever a spot where the hustle and bustle died down. That being said, it was most certainly a different kind of 'busy', then, say, the nigh-overpopulated streets in Manehatten or the simple small-town feel of Ponyville. No, the ambiance in Canterlot was usually one of elegance; it is the built around the Princesses' castle, after all. This fancy lifestyle was exactly why a certain Unicorn loved the city. She may have had limited experience elsewhere, but elsewhere wasn't Canterlot, so she was fine with that. To her, the jobs bespoke of the upper-class, the stores spoke of profit, and the cafes had excellent pastries. Maybe she'd get one later. The day was still young, after all. Speaking of which, she herself had a job to do, though it was a very different job indeed. The young mare, none other than the certainly-less-than-infamous Marionette Charade, made a living with puppets. That is to say, street performances with puppets. She was quite skilled with them, and loved the fact that they could be operated anonymously - if she stood a distance away, few people tended to take heed of her. Most prefer the mare in front of the curtain anyways. Marionette had woken up earlier in the day with a specific goal in mind. She was running a bit low on bits, and her performances hadn't quite earned enough to make up for the cost for making the puppets, so a plan was formed. It was a simple plan, Marionette would go a perfect street she had scouted out, one not to far removed so as to reduce traffic, but certainly not a main road. From there, a nice, shady, isolated spot would be found: optimally near the mouth of an ally. From there, she took out two of her particularly favorite puppets. They both looked like small ponies, one being rather lavishly decorated with various colors and even a few gems, the other a simple grey horse with no features. From there, the plan was fairly easy: Set up the fancy puppet in a spot where it would get attention: which it often would. Thanks to her magical talent, it operated seemingly autonomously as she stood hidden. The second one would wait until a crowd had gathered, then slip around "borrowing" a few trinkets nobody would miss. It was perfect in that nobody was really a victim: things could be replaced, and people who stopped to watch a street performer should be prepared to "donate" a few bits anyways. The most Marionette ever saw was someone get angry, but never upset. She smiled in the corner of the street. A simple two-pony job, done masterfully by a single mare. Why, if all her heists and plots were this well done, she might become a bit egocentric. A small, dull glow surrounded her horn as the two puppets sprung to life. Still with the slight grin, she muttered under her breath "Showtime". As the fancy one took its position in the middle of the street a distance away. She entertained the thought of getting that pastry afterwards.
  5. Good day, fellow Citizens! I'm looking to get back into the swing of things, RP wise, as well as try out this new-fangled CC, or whatever the kids are calling it these days. (Imagine a Granny Smith emoticon here) Anyways, the characters, any which of I'd be happy to use, are as follows: Amber Flare: a Pegasus raised by dragons, and a little messy when it comes to things. A little greedy, a little proud, and a little fiery, she acts much as one would expect her too. As a Traveler, she can be found all over the map, selling the gems she's developed a knack for selling, and, well, eating. I'd imagine she'd work well as a decently quirky encounter, and fits into an adventure theme quite well thanks to a rough-and-tumble nature, or just a simple conversation could prove fun. Not often one gets to talk to one raised by giant fire breathing death lizards. Riddle Mirage: A fairly eccentric unicorn, and easily the most bizarre of the three I have, though not to the point of being surreal. All in all, he has a bit of an eclectic charisma about him, and he always looks fairly neat, and well groomed. As a profession, he's a bit of stage magician, and a bit of a 'question hunter'. That is to say, he goes around finding and noting off the wall riddles, mysteries, and strange occurrences, often content to simple know they exist. An excellent partner for spelunking, if one can deal with an over-complicated personality, and he has a rather fun show to watch, if that's your thing. Oh, and he has a top hat. And door number 3 - North Star: Rather than a pegasus or a unicorn, North Star is a peryton. Physically, NS is a bit lanky and a bit small, but he makes up for this with gymnastic prowess. His current abode is inside the everfree forest, where he spends most his time with his fox Volpe, simply wandering around, exploring and stuff. He is a bit shy, and a bit nervous, but he has an almost uncanny knack for knowing his way and frequently not getting lost. Rather necessary, given the size of his home. Though he doesn't have a job, he tends to lend his time as a guide, offering tours to ponies or aiding those lost. In this case, adventure probably works much more than a simple conversation, because Star is a bit shy. And finally, Marionette Charade: This young unicorn is a bit of a paradox, really. She lives in Canterlot and works as a street-performer with marionettes (shocker, I know). The fun part is, a lot of her character is her drive to be a villain, and a particularly skilled one at that. The irony here is she can't stand to see any other pony suffer. Despite trying to be mean, she's just a nice pony. She also has a penchant for making things overly complex, and adores the freedom that comes with anonymity. From a certain standpoint, I believe she'd make an excellent rival for somepony, or even form a tenuous friendship: after all, its not like she announces she's villainous. So, those are the four I have. If anybody's interested, let know via PM, or, ya know, respond below. Whatever strikes your fancy. After all, I'm itching to get back in the ring. Oh, and the character sheets are in my sig, if you need more information. (well, they're in my sig except for Charade's. Hers is here: http://www.canterlot.com/topic/9347-marionette-charade-final/page__hl__marionette)
  6. So, I started DMing for a local DnD club. Its a rather interesting experience.

  7. Excellent! Thank you for your quick response; you answered my question to a T 10/10 would ask again
  8. Hmm... Either 10/10 with a flawless victory, or 1/10 with a flawed song. Gotta make my mind up, which score should I pick? Anyways, here's my nominee for something completely different:
  9. Oh sorry, they're in my signature, but I suppose I didn't make that clear, so my bad Still, to double check my work and everything: Characters - - - http://www.canterlot...-riddle-final/ Mirage Riddle http://www.canterlot...th-star-final/ North Star http://www.canterlot...r-flare-final/ Amber Flare Edit: and thank you for the reply! Nice to know the grandfather clause is in effect, though I'll probably stick to CC if they fit in there better.
  10. Ahahaha, this game is absolutely great! I have no regrets in spending most of my weekend beating it! I ended up doing a blind nuzlocke that went pretty darn well. That new XP share is almost unfair, really, but I digress. My team thusly is Merlin the delphox (fire/psychic) Twinkle the talonflame (fire/flying) Cavalier the furfrou (normal) (and personally my favorite. Such a wall) Flamberge the aegislash (ghost/steel) Hurricane the fossil brontosaurus whose name escapes me (ice/rock) And then I'd rotate slot 6 between Cheshire the sylveon, the title legendary (I have x) and Albi the charizard. I am considering restarting, though, and not using the xp share. Part of me just finds it too easy, even for a pokemon game. Oh, and I'm trying to find a shiny budew, because that black and purple Roselia is gorgeous. All in all a good game. To understate it a little.
  11. So, I have a question in regards to this new-fangled Canterlot chronicles, and I suppose regular WOE, as well. Specifically, I'm a little hazy on where a few of my OC's should go in terms of the proper area. I'm figuring that Riddle Mirage is standard enough to stay in WOE, and North Star, as a peryton, should probably go in CC, correct? That being said, where would my third OC, Amber Flare, go? I'm not entirely certain on which would fit her better. My natural inclination is to say CC, because of the whole "raised by dragons" shtick, but I really just don't know. A little guidance would be much appreciated!
  12. Oh. Good. That would have been doubly awkward.
  13. *Curtain opens, mysterious figure enters stage left, bows* "Showtime..."

  14. Well, hello again everypony! I reckon at least one or two of y'all probably remember me from, well, quite a while back, though to be honest I can't say I'm expecting anyone to be all that glad I'm back. While the name may ring bells, I'm certain most, if not everyone, probably forgot about me, and I don't blame you one bit. After all, I did sort of fade away last time, until I just sort of stopped coming. Recently, I was surfing around the interwebs, until I re-found this site, and then I kind of was hit with a twinge of guilt. After all, such a wonderful community is hard to find on the net, and I did form a bit of a sentimental attachment with my OC's. So, I then debated between relighting an old candle, or just up and starting a new account altogether, simply because so much time has passed. I chose the former, as you can probably tell. I wish I could even say that I know I'd stay active, but my fight with laziness is an uphill battle, as bad a personality trait as that sounds. Not only that, but I'm getting nothing but busier. In short, I may be on anywhere from once a week to once a day, but I do plan on staying. Soooo, yeah. Hi!
  15. Haha, broken laptop fan! Woooooooo, this sucks! ... I suppose it could be worse. It could be broken altogether.

  16. Should get quite a bit done tonight, if not finishing outright. Sorry for the lack of activity!
  17. It'sa coming along. I must apologize for the wait, but I'm in the middle of a bit of stress, so it may take a while to get things done.
  18. Indeed let me be one of the first batch to give a hearty greetings to thee! So take this merry invitation as a hello from you, to me!
  19. Amber nodded. What Sierra said certainly made sense, and that was something which was hard to argue with. She gave a brief smile, after all exploring was rather fun. Most of the exploring Amber did often roped itself into a gem hunt, to the point where she couldn't remember the last time she'd explored just to explore. "Oh, I can certainly relate to that! I never really stop traveling, in fact I'm doing it right now!" She hopped a enthusiastically to emphasis the point. She had quite a bit of energy really, to the point where she felt rather excitable. Not to mention the fact that this dragon actually manged to earn bits by exploring. That actually seemed like an excellent system. "Now that you mention it, I really do need to explore the area around here. Who knows what's just lying around? Not to mention, you know, the scenery. It always seems to get prettier the farther you get from all the towns."
  20. "Well, when I say greed I mean I'm more of a hoarder, and not so much a klepto. I do have some problems phrasing things right..." Amber drifted off in though for a brief second, before snapping back to attention. "Errrm... I'm not entirely sure of what you have." She just realized that she had literally no idea what the cafe had to offer, and thus she had no idea what to say, really.
  21. If you asked Santa for pickles, yes you probably would get them. I myself would not get Santa pickles though. It would be rather difficult hiking up the North Pole. Not to mention that candy cane forest looks easy to get lost in and elves are vicious spiteful little creatures when defending the workshop from outsiders. They're like little gremlins, only instead of going demon form after eating past midnight, they go crazy after not making toys for a couple minutes. It would be an elegant system, if it wasn't so terrifying.
  22. Roleplay Type: Mane RP Name: Marionette Charade Sex: Mare Age: Marionette is a mare, but she's just left her filly ages, putting her around the youngest possible age for a mare Species: Unicorn Eye Color: Almost bright green, more on a lighter spectrum Coat Color: A bright red, to the point where it starts to look faded Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: Color-wise, Marionette's mane is a shade of starry silver. She tends to take great pride in her mane, and keeps it well combed. She keeps the part running down her neck plain, but she often arranges her bangs into straight combed braids. Her tail is about as large as her mane, and matches the groomed look nicely. Unlike her mane however, she creates an illusion of a jagged look in her tail Physique: Well, being as young as she is, she's somewhat smaller then most ponies, but she's definitely bigger than a filly. She's actually quite slim, and often gets so wrapped up in things she even forgets to eat every now and then. In fact, she isn't quite athletic, and gets tired after prolonged physical activity, such as constant running or exercise. She can handle basic things fine, she's far from being malnourished, but she clearly isn't as athletic as other ponies. Cutie Mark: Her cutie mark is a puppet handle, with a few strings dangling down from it. The puppet handle is a standard wooden cross, but the strings are actually an almost glowing shade of silver. Her talent is crafting puppets and controlling them to a remarkably life like level. Origin/Residence She was born and currently lives in Canterlot, but she often takes extended leaves to various cities to gather materials for her puppets. Occupation: Well she doesn't own any stores, she creates puppets and has street performances with them. Occasionally if bits are especially difficult to come buy she sell a puppet or two, if she feels kind enough to follow the law that day (Explained in the summery, if you'll humor me) Motivation: As a performer, her passion is too constantly improve her puppets too the point where they become works of art. As a self-proclaimed villain, her mission is too cause general havoc and be a by the book evil pony. Much to her chagrin, she also is motivated too help pretty much anyone who is down on themselves. Likes: Puppets, a good show, a well preformed charade or front, a successful plan or performance, places that give a spooky feel, acting (to the point where she'll constantly rework her past depending on who she's talking too), magic, her brother Mirage Riddle, scheming and playing at being a menace, and candy Dislikes: Not being in control of a situation, anything that's painfully obvious, being called unintelligent, seeing anypony sad or depressed, being foiled in her schemes, somepony solving one of her 'brilliant' plans, the royal guard, and squirrels (It runs in the family) Character Summary: Like her brother, Marionette was born and raised in Canterlot. As a young filly, her childhood was rather pronounced. While Mirage was off learning magic from their father, she would often watch her mother Razzle Dazzle as she performed in all the different plays she did. Of course, this inspired her to try to take interest in the theater world, which affected her mentality to an insane degree. First of all, and perhaps most importantly, it inspired her to try and find her talent in the acting arts. Marionette could recall her first attempts as something of a disappointing failure. Hoping everything would work out, she auditioned for a play in a very little known theater. Although her voice was ok, and she could get the tones and emotions near spot on, her motions were, well, terrible. She didn't really come close to getting a part, but she wasn't disheartened. For the next few weeks, she would try (and fail just as equally as her first try) to find a talent in any form of performance she could think of. In between these, she would boost her drive by watching her mother's plays. As she watched more and more of these, she began to idolize several of the villains in these plays. Without them, she realized, there would be no plot or substance to a play. They had catchy songs, unique personalities, and could make or break a story depending on how good they were. All in all, she wondered if an affinity for these things could make other lives just as interesting. Perhaps she could even go so far as to make other ponies better, by providing opposition. With this mindset, she did encounter a few roadblocks. Her father Dragonheart was a strong believer in morals, and somehow successfully ingrained being kind into Marionette's very DNA. This made it difficult to call herself evil, because she just couldn't stand any pony being sad, or hurt. This limited her schemes into victim-less crimes, and she lacked the foresight to pull off anything big with this. Until she turned an eye to her brother. Although she and Mirage never really spent much time together, she idolized him all the same, and was inspired by his love of riddles. Taking this into consideration, her 'crimes' became more and more complicated, and oddly enough, more successful. All this evil did nothing to help Marionette with auditions, or finding her talent, but that would change with a vacation to Ponyville. From the moment she got there, she was fascinated with the Everfree forest. On the second day or so of dwelling there, she snuck off from her family to go explore it at night. As she wandered in, she was enamored with it all. Luckily, she somehow managed to avoid anything life-threatening. Losing track of time, she wandered for hours during the night until she found a clearing with a small pony-shaped chip of wood lying on a stump. Admiring it, she picked it up only to then realize how hopelessly lost she was. Panicking, she could not have found a better stroke of luck when she was found by a peryton living in the forest, who lead her back to the edge of the forest. When she got back, her parents were overjoyed, and the entire family decided to call the vacation short. Back in Canterlot, she toyed around with the small piece of wood, eventually carving a small, remarkably pony-like puppet, complete with some strings. Although the task was hard, she enjoyed every bit of it and the result filled her with pride. When she finished, she received her cutie mark as she played around with it, startling herself by how good she was. As she was older, she realized there were precious few stages she could perform a puppet show in. Rather than be limited by this, she decided to perform in the streets. With such an amount of joy in her life, her evil schemes in between puppetry became bolder. She also developed a dislike for the Canterlot royal guard after they foiled several of her plot, and she has become rather irked at how the guards treat her with bemusement (After all, she's still pretty young, and her plans never really hurt anyone despite her worst intentions). Personality: Marionette has a rather unique personality. The first thing she'd have you know is her undying strives to be villainous, and she constantly cracks various schemes to spread as much chaos as she can. That said, she has a rather odd moral inhibition. No matter how hard she tries, she can't stand the sight of any pony feeling depressed, and she's almost forced to help try to feel better. That said, the only thing Marionette can think of to cheer others up is either a puppet show, or breaking the law some more. As for her talent, she devotes as much time as she can to running street shows. After all, it is her rule abiding way to get the bits. Aside from kindness and evil, Marionette is rather fond of making things elaborate. Anything worth doing should be anonymous, and if people really care enough about it they'd have to find it out. Every crime was a game of wits, and every show was a mystery, as puppets danced alone throughout streets with seemingly no one nearby. A show is half of the fun! Of course, with to create such elaborate plans, one needs to be smart, and this is where Marionette shines. Oddly enough, while she is smart, and she shows tremendous wisdom at times, she easily flipflops between acting like how you'd expect one so young to act like. She loves candy, hates being condescended to, and she acts her age.
  23. Amber chuckled. "That might as well be the exact opposite of the problem I have. Perhaps you've caught on to this by now, but greed has always been a problem for me. You provide a nice contrast to that!" She watched as Wine&Dine grabbed his fork, when she realized she hadn't even noticed him take it. She blinked for a minute, then laughed some more. What were the odds that she would find a pony that more or less flipped her own troubles upside down?
  24. Amber thought for a moment. Airships were fun, they kind of intrigued her, but at the same time she was mostly apathetic. That part about Tartarus sounded ominous and potentially dangerous. Of course, she supposed that gates were meant to keep things in for this case, so she reasoned it was probably safe. Still... she gave a brief thought. "Well, what it is you do for fun around here?" An honest question. After all, sightseeing was never really her thing, especially after living in the Everfree, trekking through mountains, and lying by mountains of gems (not for a while, but still). Perhaps she'd relate better to what a dragon found as entertainment, rather than open tourist areas.
  25. Amber felt a bit reassured, but also a little confused. Didn't klepto mean that... no matter. She could be friendly and keep track of her stuff. Heck, she could even pull off disguising any remaining suspicion (Which she really did have trouble dealing with). Shaking his hoof, she replied "I must apologize if I offended you. I value my things perhaps a bit more than anypony should. Really, its nothing against you, but rather me being paranoid." A brief explanation, and Amber felt she was off to a good start. At least, she hoped she was.
