  1. North Star was beginning to feel terribly inconvenienced by the darkness. Even on the darker nights, he still had some vision available to him, but between the trees and the cliff, there was very little light down here. He could still hear fine, so he considered that a plus, and he did hear the pegasus reply. "Oh good, she doesn't seem to terribly hurt, or at least she's fine enough to speak" Trying to pinpoint what exact direction the voice came from, he didn't notice several things he should have picked up on, like a quick flickering motion over in some nearby brush. When the pony called out again, North Star was fairly certain he was facing her direction, placing himself somewhere between the cliff and the pegasus. "I'm over by the cliff that you.. kind of.. tumbled down. Which may have been my fault..." Star was a bit hesitant while speaking, mainly because he felt rather guilty. He was only trying to help, and it technically was his fox that stepped on the twig, that wouldn't have happened if he made himself known closer to the start. Too late for that, he supposed, he needed to remember how to get back to the top of the cliff, but he couldn't think of anywhere that was a good whiles away. Then he heard the hiss. Hoping it was Volpe for second, he realized that his fox hadn't followed him down the slope. That did not bode well. At all actually. He was blind with his back to cliff, stuck with something that could make a hissing noise. Perhaps it was something as simple as a snake, but you don't live in the Everfree by not being cautious. "Errrm... I rather dislike trying to worry you, but I have no idea what that hissing noise is, and it doesn't sound particularly nice." He hoped the pegasus was well enough to move rather soon.
  2. "Well, it just sort of... happened, really. Apparently it was some sort of big mishap while I was barely a few days old. Besides that, I've been raised by my dear old mother since then. Well, until I decided to leave the cave, obviously. Its not really that much of story, or it would be a bigger one if I remembered it." Amber frowned as she tried to explain her past. It didn't really seem strange to her, but she didn't know very much about what life would be like had she not been raised by dragons. Still feeling a bit peckish, she pulled out the half eaten gem from her, without considering the fact that a pony eating a gem was like... was like... actually, it wasn't really like anything else. Realizing she was talking to a fellow dragon, she swallowed a bit of her pride and pulled out another one. "Oh dear, that was inconsiderate of me, wasn't it? Would you like a gem, I have a spare or two to share, especially for such an occasion."
  3. ((O.O.C. Sorry for the absence, got a bit caught up with friends )) "Well, I don't see how its obvi- wait, what!?" Amber was a bit taken aback, mainly because she certainly didn't see the compliment coming, much less know how to react to it. Taking a step back, she smirked and regained her (relative) cool. "I think I see... very smooth. That certainly explains a lot then." Taking a quick look around, she noticed that not very many other ponies were taking an interest in her stand. Sighing, she wondered if today wasn't her day sales wise. Perhaps she should just wrap up the stand early, at this rate she wouldn't earn a single bit. On the bright side, the conversation was nice.
  4. Amber chuckled as well. Perhaps she was being a tad over dramatic about her gems. She was selling them, so parting with them was ideal if she was given a good price, but that remark about his brother being able to steal them irked her pride a little. Deciding on a retort, she flat out stated "Except I would know they were stolen. There are exactly 23 gems I've put on sale, and if need be I could recount what each one looked like. But you still haven't said what kind of mischief you manage." Back with the first subject, she was starting to get curious. What could he do that he was hinting at?
  5. Riddle overheard this, and frowned. "True, but a riddle is only fun when you try to solve it, not watch it be solved. No, sorry, that wasn't very fair of me, was it?." He caught himself at the end of his sentence, and beamed once more. Making sure he was facing the right direction this time, he pointed dramatically once more towards the horizon "Now, good folk, TALLY HO!" He trotted forward a few steps and hooked himself up to the carriage, waiting for the others to gain some ground before following.
  6. Amber nodded and smiled at the dragon's response. Yup, that definitely made sense. Without a map to go by, she wasn't aware the city was so close to the badlands, but that was terrific! Perhaps that even went so far as to explain why she had been lucky with gem finding recently, but that was a stretch. She continued to listen as the dragon asked about her past. "Well, I suppose yes. I spent a good deal of my childhood being raised by one, so I should certainly hope so!" She responded in a rather chipper manner. This dragon hadn't been mean or anything like that, so Amber saw no reason to be dishonest. She didn't really consider that this would invite more questions, but she really didn't find her past strange, no matter how many places she went.
  7. North Star continued to follow the pegasus, without making himself known. Really, he felt a bit unfair about the whole thing. It was kind of odd to be following this pony through the Everfree, but he really just wanted to make sure nothing bad happened. Hold up... she seemed to be lost. At least, she wasn't going towards the clearing she had landed in... Perhaps now would be a good time to reveal himself, after all, helping lost ponies was something he had taken up. He was just debating this, when he heard a twig snap right next to him. Whirling to his left, he saw Volpe looking rather sheepishly at his paw. Beneath it was a small splintered stick, which caught North Star by surprise. Foxes were supposed to be sneaky and light on their feet, weren't they? Giving Volpe a sigh, he turned back towards the pegasus, only to notice she wasn't there. He did here a rolling sound and assuming he was where he thought he was, he reasoned the snap had startled that pony as well. Well, startled her off a cliff... Without much more of a wait, he dashed down. This particular drop didn't have any paths or shortcuts around for at least a good half a mile, so that left very little options besides falling down himself. Carefully, he walked on to the incline and withing seconds starting sliding down at a relatively unsafe speed. Thank god for wings, he mused as he stretched them out. Sure, he couldn't fly, but they slowed the decent enough for him not to tumble down himself. Once he reached the bottom, he noticed it was to dark for him to see anything. Without eyesight, he was left to call out blindly "Hello? Are you all right?"
  8. Well, the majority of the more studious ponies are unicorns, and being introverted is generally associated with being studious for some reason. It is really typist, but think about it. The only studious pony that really has a mane roll in MLP is Twilight, and she is rather introverted (improving, but I'd argue she still is at least slightly). Given that Twilight is a unicorn, it seems as though people have generalized unicorns as a more intelligence focused race, and thus a more introverted race. Or something like that.
  9. On the forest floor, things were actually quite peaceful. In fact, aside from a few songbirds, it was almost silent, which suited the Peryton walking through the trees. As he continued, he spoke to the fox trotting by his side "Well Volpe, what do you think? A nice change of pace from the usual threats, isn't it? Perhaps he was exaggerating, after all he lived in the forest, but the peace suited him just fine. His companion certainly seemed to think so as well as it gave a chipper mewl in agreement. The peace was broken as lighting crackled above the trees, and a few of the birds scattered. The Peryton, known as North Star, found this odd. He knew the Everfree ran itself, and the clouds did often form thunderstorms by itself, he had gotten rather skilled at predicting what the whether would look like. Looking up, he also remarked that the clouds were lined up and went off in sequence. He wasn't quite sure what to make of this until he saw a dark purple pony (it was difficult to see accurately from the distance he was at) flew down from the clouds as they dispersed. Looking at his fox, North Star whispered "Let's go have a look see, shall we?" Luckily, as all Perytons did, North Star possessed quite the gift for hiding and sneaking around, so he was rather confident he could be able to observe this pony without being noticed. This was the Everfree, and no matter how talented a flier a pony could be, it was still dangerous. It took a few minutes, but eventually he was able to find the pegasus, who seemed to be taking a break of all things.
  10. But of course! I'll post ASAP! Ah, I see several different ways this could play out. She hates cowards, North Star can be rather timid, instant conflict there. Also, she seems fond of adventures, and you seem to have mentioned specifically dragons at least once in the profile. Amber can always substitute for one!
  11. Oh dear, she probably should have thought this through a bit more. Amber was just excited to see a dragon, after all, and in the excitement, she started speaking in a quick manner. "Oh no, you probably couldn't help me with much. Your the first dragon I've seen since my childhood, and it's just rather nice to have such a trot down memory lane! Especially another sky dragon. Why, I always thought I'd find an empty cave of gems before I'd get the opportunity to do this!" Amber's voice certainly conveyed her joy, as her eyes sparkled. Yup. This made her day.
  12. Amber blinked for a second, then stepped instinctively closer to her gems "Mischief? What kind of mischief, exactly?" She wasn't quite sure how to take in this new information. He certainly hasn't done anything that seemed like it would cause trouble. Did most ponies here act like this? She certainly hoped not. After tossing the idea around, she realized she was probably overreacting. Giving a brief smile, she tried not to convey any confusion or anything similar. After all, he hadn't done anything wrong.
  13. Hmm... Personally I would probably be a unicorn. I never talk much, outside of a close group of friends and family, I have somewhat of a passion for history, and I've always viewed myself as somewhat philosophical. Also, magic is awesome, and I'd use it more often then any of my four hooves I'd have combined.
  14. Amber watched defensively as Wine&Dine picked up her gem. She was selling it, but it wasn't sold yet. Relaxing a bit, she realized he only wanted to appraise it. That was ok, she supposed, and he did have a talent for it. Indeed, the only way he could have been more accurate was to put an exact price on it. "Well now, that must certainly come in handy around here! You mentioned expensive tastes? Does that make you a more well to do pony?" Amber was actually curious. Wine&Dine seemed like a talkative pony, so a few questions seemed right up his ally, perhaps.
  15. Amber smiled. She wasn't quite sure if he was complimenting her mark, drawing attention to his mane, or both. Probably the latter, but that didn't really bother Amber. "And your mark - hmm... I suppose it is rather unique. Doesn't quite match up to anything. One of a kind!" Stepping out from behind the table, she approached Wine&Dine to get a quick look at his cutie mark. She wasn't quite sure what the fork or price tag meant, really.
  16. Sadly, Amber hadn't managed to find anywhere to sell her gems just yet. Not that she hadn't found any markets, quite the contrary, really. In fact she was walking in the middle of one right now, as she looked at the various stalls and vendors. Rather, she was unable to find anyone interested in buying her more common gems. She probably could have easily sold some more valuable ones, but those one were hers. Looking around, she saw a few food carts stand out, and she was reminded of hungry she was. Checking her bag, she realized she didn't have any bits, so local cuisine was out of the question. No matter, she had found a rather tasty looking emerald about a mile out that she was rather excited about. Finding a nice corner to sit in, she took a quick bite of the gem (uncaring of any glances she got - it was to good for her to care). It certainly was quite delicious, that was for sure. About halfway through, she saw a dragon. In the market. Staring for a bit, she stored the rest of her gem in her pack, and put it back on in a protective manner. She hadn't seen another dragon since, well, since she left her mother's cave, which certainly seemed quite a while ago. eventually, curiosity outweighed her desire to protect her horde, and she approached the dragon. How often do you get to see something that was such a blast from the past? Stopping a good distance, she realized she had no idea how to great this dragon. Should she just say hello, like a pony, or perhaps a more draconic greeting was required. Wait, dragons mainly chased each other off. Pony greeting it was! "Hello over there, Ms. Dragon!"
  17. Amber blushed as Wine&dine complimented her, although it was completely unexpected. In pretty much all of her travels, she didn't think anyone had ever greeted her like that, per say. In fact, most of the ponies in Manehatten hadn't really given polite greetings whatsoever, so this was definitely a first... "Finally! its nice to see somepony in this city who knows how to greet a pony! My name is Amber Flare" She chuckled a little, then as she greeted herself she took up a very proud pose. After all, a good introduction leaves a good first impression.

  19. "Hmm? Oh, of course I can help with some more lifting! The sooner its done, the sooner we can get on the road!" Riddle was momentarily distracted when he realized that he was pointing the wrong way, and so he just lowered himself and decided it never happened. Trotting over to the pile, his horn started glowing, and he spoke up again. "Ready when you two are! Unless you don't get ready. In which case none of us are!"
  20. Too late, made the post. PM for invite seemed like a nice balance between private and custom, but if your against that I could change it.
  21. Amber Flare was feeling quite herself today. After all, she had just been able to trek through the mountains, where she had felt quite at home. Although it was a long journey, she had found more than enough gems to make it worth while, and she had just arrived at a city she had never been to. Actually, the city was a nice bonus. Amber was just going on vacation in the mountains, but she must have gotten terribly off course. As she approached the first buildings, she noticed several different airships in the distance. Stopping and staring for a few seconds, she realized she had never seen very many airships in her life. Oh well, she mused, plenty of time for that later. As she continued walking into town, she patted her bag out of habit. Perhaps she could even find a nice market where she could rid herself of some of her more common gems, or something like that.
  22. Well then, if you don't mind, I do believe I'll set it up in public. The more the merrier, or something like that. (Unless you wanted to start it) Terribly sorry about the wait, but don't worry, you haven't been forgotten. I'll get right to setting up a thread as soon as possible. How does Ponyville or the outlying area sound?
  23. Amber Flare sighed. She never liked parting with her gems, but she had run out of bits and was starting to get hungry for something more than precious stones. Without much else to do, she found what looked a market area, and found an empty stall she could sell her gems in. Against her better judgement, she had even put some of her rarer gems on display, realizing she could probably fetch quite a price on them in the city. Oh and what a marvelous city it was! She had only been here for about a day or two, and she was still in awe of how big it was. Amber had never been any where filled with quite so many ponies, to the point where she almost felt overwhelmed by the amount of them. Looking around at some of the other market stalls, she noticed another pony stop and take a look at her supply. Calling over to him, "Why hello there good sir! Anything catch your fancy here?" As she spoke, she gestured to the stones laid out on the table.
  24. Well, I suppose a private could work. Just one thing, would you mind terribly if I asked you to start this one? I'm having a hard time figuring where to begin here... Well then, just one last question before we get this show on the road. Public or private? Coolio. Would you like me to start the thread here? Also, where - if anywhere - is your griffon limited to? Sorry for the question barrage, but if I do start off the thread I would like to know where to start it.
  25. Oh dear me, where to begin? This could prove interesting. North Star does visit the town to try and help out with various things every now and then Well now, this is quite the flip-flop, isn't it? It could easily turn in to even something like a gem hunt to a simple (or complex) exchange of cultures. I must day, I am liking this idea Again, another grand idea! I must admit, the contrast of the characters alone interests me quite a bit as well... Whoops! That's what I get for assuming, I suppose... . Anyways, Amber could make a suitable target for a conpony like Wine&Dine, but I suppose that wouldn't be the only option before us Well of course I'm interested, but I seem to be having a bit of difficulty finding your character sheet. I apologize for the trouble, but it would help quite a lot if you could provide a link
