You must remember that Twilight came in FOURTH PLACE last time, despite not running in any sort of long-distance race before. This was achieved through only literal research. Now she's had some practice....think about it, don't you think the fact she has more experience...combined with her intellect would help her to place higher in the race, maybe even win it?
