  1. The three kittens were stillborn. The first one was named Venser for that exact reason - we didn't know 2 more were going to come.
  2. Liliana is momma We still have Jace and Chandra, the rest all found homes.
  3. So just throwing it out there...our litter of kittens were named after Planeswalkers.
  4. While bottle feeding babies basically since birth was a much-needed learning experience in rescue, I don't think I could do it again. With Kirby and I both working full time, it nearly killed us.
  5. Mama is doing great! You'd never know she has FIV. The only thing that gives it away is that her paws bother her when she's standing - she has something wrong with them common in FIV cats ("pillow feet" I believe it's called, they are slightly puffy). She's getting tired of her kittens though and ready for them to leave the nest!
  6. I'm not sure if being legendary is good or bad!
  7. Freaking ADORABLE. Current: I've had this for a long time now, I think it's time for a new one.
  8. My computer's name is Momoneko ("pink cat" in Japanese): Most of this machine was built in 2008, and it's still going strong and can play anything I throw at it. 3.2 Ghz AMD Phenom II Black Quad-Core CPU 8 GB RAM 1 GB 128-bit Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT 500W PSU 3 internal hard drives - 1) 200 GB for the OS, 2) 1 TB (TV, movies, music, etc) and 3) 2 TB (Mostly anime). Almost full Dual displays - 17" and 15" Windows 7 x64 Ultimate
  9. I use Windows for my everyday needs, but most of my job is based around Linux. I'm learning shell stuff more and more and really enjoying it. Linux is a very powerful tool. I'm finding more limitations in Windows that Linux has no issues with. I don't think I could ever fully make the jump to Linux, but I do have a much deeper appreciation for it now.
  10. I use Yahoo religiously. I have a Gmail account, but I just don't like it. Though admittedly, I'm very averse to change. I'm still using an older version of Yahoo because I don't like the new look (I'm actually probably a few versions behind at this point). I don't use the spam filter because I don't want to check for emails I may have missed to it. Hotmail is rapidly losing favor with people because of their spam filters and not receiving all their mail properly because of it - I still see lots of websites, etc that have to give specific instructions for Hotmail users.
  11. My hubby came up with the name Tortoise Shell before we even talked about me joining, it is a color pattern for cats and it fits perfectly (plus I'm a sucker for torties).
  12. Especially when so many people (including the vet) told us we should put her and her kittens down
  13. Somehow I feel I just got suckered into watching 3.5 minutes of a Japanese Ronald McDonald for no reason...unless the secret to a happy marriage is being able to measure your shoe size in hamburgers.
  14. It just kind of happened that way. We were still watching RAW (before it got sucky) when we first rescued Dusty - he was very "dusty" since he's so fluffy and Kirby filled out the rest. Bobby was the next to be rescued, so he kept the theme going. We recently had a feral kitten who was a little fluffy tuxedo, and his name was Cody Rhodes Quite a few of our cats that have come and gone were named on the spot - usually at the vet when they needed a name. We ended up with Felicia Hardy and Amaterasu that way. We are trying to place Rondo in our group's Petco location. He is incredibly dominant for such a small guy, and we tried for months to integrate him with our other cats unsuccessfully. He just keeps attacking them. He's a VERY handsome fellow, though, and so sweet with humans. Thanks for the offer of the volunteer network - I may take advantage of that if someone long-distance is interested in adopting. My "foster" cats are with a group that has their own rules, but I do have cats here and there that I can adopt out at my discretion. Also, if anyone is in the NYC area and wants to adopt...let me know!
  15. Are you ready for this? ...you sure? Let's start with the numbers: We currently have 16 cats (I'm pretty sure, anyway...the number keeps changing), 3 chinchillas, 3 gerbils, 2 mice, and 1 rat. Yes, 16 cats. We only own 6; the rest are either fosters for a rescue group, or other cats we rescued that we are trying to find homes for. I don't have pictures of everyone handy right now, so I'll post again when I get the rest. So here we go - in spoiler because there are SO many pictures: Not pictured: The gerbils and rat. I'll try to get their pictures tonight.
  16. Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but we do have updates! I remembered Kirby started this thread when the kittens were born. The kittens are a little over 3 months old now. Four of the six have already been adopted and in wonderful homes As for the FIV... They were first tested at 2 months old. Two of them tested negative, the other four tested weakly positive. They were retested again just last week and ALL of them are negative now! My beautiful, strong, brave momma cat gave us perfectly healthly babies.
  17. Thanks for the link! They are only dusty after their baths (of dust...) but it shakes out pretty fast.
  18. The good thing about building my own computers is that I can go as girly as I want! Kirby mentioned a new "pets" thread around somewhere, so when I find it, there will be so many pictures of cats... (and chinchillas, gerbils, mice, and rat...) Falling toasters? So that's where this bruise came from!
  19. Oh, and also - about the embargo. He's broken it many many times before, so it's not like it was heavily enforced!
  20. I randomly found this thread and I wish I wasn't at work right now, because I had almost uncontrollable giggles when reading what I did with his notebook. I have no idea why I did it, other than I had very little sleep for 3 days and a 5 hour car ride was excruitiating at that point. What he left out is that I did another 1.5 little mini fics at the same time. He had to explain "cloppers" to me and that they are not always embraced - so I'm surprised he shared the story at all. I had talked to him about joining for a few days. I was afraid I'd be encroaching on his little getaway and that he wouldn't want me here, so now that it's done, I hope he really is okay with it! As for shared interests, he not only supports, but usually embraces, my fanatic cat rescue. We took in another foster kitten a few weeks ago and for the first time, we didn't have to discuss it, he just said "Okay."
  21. Thanks all! I think "cat lover" is putting it mildly I mostly enjoy books about the paranormal/supernatural. My favorite author is L.J. Smith. I don't work directly with the legal aspects - we process data for law firms and corporations when they are in litigation to present as evidence. I personally do a lot with software testing and some really light programming. I'm vaguely familiar with Phoenix Wright but never played it.
  22. So wait a minute...if she put confetti in the oven, does that mean that the cake would have shot out of the oven and into his noggin if it had been set up properly?
