  1. The Wii U is performing horribly on a global scale, and for good reason. First and foremost, the system launched with a very small library of games. Half of the "hyped" Wii U launch titles were re-releases of previously released games on other systems (Arkham City, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, etc). Second, the hardware is costly to replace, and is difficult to do so. A replacement gamepad will set you back almost $90 and you can only order a replacement through Nintendo, as they are not available in retail stores. Choosing to launch the Wii U so early was also, in hindsight, a mistake. All of the hype and momentum for the Wii U is now gone, and Nintendo is going to get crushed by Microsoft and Sony at this year's E3, as they roll out details and demos for their new consoles. Bottom line, the Wii U is not doing well across the globe, and I do not think that it a very bright future. Nintendo has always been the one to embrace innovation and "gimmicks", and it has payed off well for them in the past. With the Wii U, I believe they (Nintendo) relied far too heavily on innovation to carry hardware sales and not enough on a solid list of launch titles. I would not be surprised if in 3-5 years, Nintendo and the Wii U end up in a good spot, however the next couple years are almost inevitably going to be rough for them.

  3. Dust: An Elysian Tail is definintely of the best indie games I've ever played, and Dean Dodrill deserves the utmost praise for single-handedly desiging and programing the game.
  4. It's a pretty safe bet that this is never going to happen, not in this generation nor the next. Kingdom Hearts is largely a Sony exclusive franchise. Nintendo was able to obtain the rights to some of portable games because at the time Sony did not have a portable gaming system, and profitable sales allowed Nintendo to keep those rights.
  5. Magneto's complex history and depth of character make him one of the greatest villains to date.
  6. Other than demonstrating your biases, what is the point of this thread? Shouldn't this be more suited to a blog post? Also, Just Cause 2 is not underrated...not even close...
  7. I remember seeing this game awhile back, although I had never tried it up until now. This about sums up my experience...
  8. For those interested, Aquaria is currently half off ($4.99) on Steam through February 21st. http://store.steampowered.com/app/24420/?snr=1_7_15__13
  9. Unfortunately, that is the nature of trademark laws in the US, you either protect your trademark or risk losing it. Given how long Hasbro has waited before issuing this C&D, it tells me that they probably didn't want to do it. I suspect that a third party that was issued a C&D by Hasbro attempted to use Fighting is Magic as a justification, which ultimately tied Hasbro's hands in the matter. Granted, this is all pure speculation on my part. I am curious as to what will happen at EVO 2013. Fighting is Magic was going to be featured as a side showcase this year.
  10. What is your favorite game that not too many people seem to know about? What kind of game is it? Why do you like it so much? My personal favorite would have to be Aquaria, hands down. It is an aquatic Metroidvania side-scroller with a heavy emphasis on exploration and narration. The game follows Naija, a mermaid-like woman, as she explores the underwater world of Aquaria. Along her journey, she learns about both the history of the world and her own past. Aquaria's gameplay is a balanced mix of combat, non-linear exploration, and puzzle-solving. There are several songs that you will acquire as you journey throughout Aquaria. Naija's songs can move items, affect plants and animals, and change her physical appearance into other forms. If you are looking for a Metroidvania-style game with an intriguing plot, intuitive exploration and puzzle-solving, and an amazing soundtrack, I would highly recommend you check out Aquaria. http://www.bit-blot.com/aquaria/ So Canterlot, how about you? What is your favorite indie or underrated game?
  11. Excluding all of the common anime series that were frequently on television growing up, (Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon, Sailor Moon, etc) my first anime would have most likely have been either Azumanga Daioh or Cowboy Bebop. Those are the earliest ones I remember going out of my way to find and watch.
  12. As far as Game Grumps Animated goes..this is ridiculously cute. I totally want more of Raptor Egoraptor and Bird Jon.
  13. Personally, friends that can't accept you for what you enjoy are friends not worth having. I don't go out of my way to tell people I'm a Brony but at the same time I don't deny it either.
  14. Nah, if you run with the dagger you can exploit the magic attack's invincibility frames to great advantage. With Battletoads, there are far too many of the bike sequences and I was never really good that those to begin with. I would much rather run Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts over Battletoads any day.
  15. Good point, I was very tired when I made that post and had just come off of a CSI marathon so my brain was still in detective mode.
  16. What if...just what if...Pinkamena Diane Pie ends up being the heir to the throne of some far off kingdom? Twilight seems too obvious of a choice, and doesn't make too much sense to me. Pinkie, on the other hand, I can see something like this happening.
  17. I'm going to have to say that Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. It has a pretty high learning curve, but enemy and boss patterns are very repetitive throughout the game. Once you learn them, you're pretty much good for the rest of the game as long as you're careful. It is maybe an 8/10 difficulty. Battletoads though...yup. 11/10. EDIT: Oh and as far as my (actual) greatest gaming accomplishment, it would probably beating any number of the various Touhou games out there. I've beaten most of the main games on lunatic, although I think there is a new one out that I need to play... This is not me by the way, just my favorite boss.
  18. Heh. One of my non-Brony friends suprised me with the season 1 DVD as a belated birthday gift. It was hilariously awesome because now his Amazon keeps suggesting Brony merchandise for him.
  19. I don't know if I'd go so far to call it the greatest, but it certainly is fun. I mainly play it on and off since there is no real obligation to play it regularly. I too am on TC, and main an Asura Engineer.
