~Icefall Stronghold, One Month after the Royal Hive's destruction~

Darkness had awoken in this land. An ancient evil unleashed by the failings of the mortal races of Equestria. Revolution had sparked the beginning of the continent's end, for total destruction was inevitable. Death would plague the land until its rightful King obtained his throne. Soon, the 'Goliath' would be discovered once more, and the world would be His to rule. Time was short for the Equestrians...and the Age of Pierrot would arrive. It was certain, and there was nothing any creature could do to prevent the Alicorn's rise to eternal power. With the deaths of the Princesses, Equestria had become a ticking time-bomb...and it was near the end of it's countdown. It will all begin here...in this deadened valley.

The snow-blanketed valley had once been home to the Royal Hive of the Changelings, but now that very home was demolished, and a massive marble structure stood in its place. Equines brandishing wicked weapons and wearing shining gray armor that stood out against the white landscape roamed the valley and near the newly-built stronghold, it's white spires reaching high into the sky and piercing the clouds above. Dragons hung on balconies quietly, their red gazes searching the countryside under silent vigil. This was once the territory of Changelings. Now it belonged to the Crystal Empire...and Pierrot.

Within the white halls of the fortress (now known as Icefall Stronghold), more soldiers patrolled and guarded every door and opening, leaving nothing unprotected. At the very center of the stronghold stood an onyx altar with a pair curled dragon skeletons carved out of volcanic rock resting upon it, as well as a throne that had the granduer of a monarch's, being made of the same stone as the altar and taking on the shape of a crown with thorned roses etched into it. Upon the throne sat a female alicorn in a glittering black gown, her posture relaxed and elegant. Another alicorn stood at her side, a male with indented, black steel armor. Within the indents flowed what appeared to be molten magma, and it covered his entire body except for his face, which held a mark of curved flames beneath his horn. His eyes were blood-red, possessing an unholy glow to them.

The two remained silent as another figure approached them from the large hallway that led to the altar. Another alicorn, and much larger and older in appearance. He had a long blue mane, snow-white coat, and deep-blue eyes that studied his surroundings warily. He wore a shining, white suit of armor and wore a glorious diamond crown on top of his head. His arrival made the female alicorn rise from her throne, as she and the other bowed in respect. The kingly alicorn spoke as he stepped upon the altar, his voice carrying throughout the hall. "...Misery. Despair. I see you succeeded in your mission...well done. Your use of the Tartarus Gate is quite...exceptional, Misery." The female alicorn smiled bitterly, thanking him for his praise.

"...Pierrot. Father. This battle had taken a toll on us, despite the weakness of the Changelings...including the life of Despair. But...as you can see...he is back among us, and stronger than ever." Misery pronounced, while the male alicorn named Despair simply eyed Pierrot emotionlessly. Pierrot frowned at his son before looking back at his daughter. "...I was told you had a gift for me. Is this it? The resurrection of your brother? You should have left him dead...seeing what he has become, now." The last few words drew a pained expression from Misery, but she quickly shrugged it off and spoke again. "...no, Father. While it is similar, it is not Despair's...reanimation. I think you will enjoy this." Turning her head to one of the side doors, she shouted: "Send her in!" A massive pair of iron doors slid open, revealing a fully-armored, equine creation as she stalked in. Everything about her screamed danger, from the way she moved to the appearance she had. The only visible thing about her body was a pair of glowing red eyes. The mare stopped before the Tartarus Gate, and kneeled respectfully.

Pierrot studied the mare before him, and his frown remained. He felt as if he should recognize her...she felt familiar. He barely noticed the gesture his daughter made as she addressed the armored warrior. "Chevalier. Reveal yourself..." Pierrot glanced at Misery for a moment. Chevalier? The mare nodded, standing up from her kneel as her plated-mask began to split apart magically, sliding into the rest of her armor. The mare's coat was a deep dark-blue, her mane a glimmering black like the night sky, with stars glowing within it. The sight made Pierrot draw in breath sharply, as he rasped quietly in shock. "...Princess Luna...?" Misery laughed to herself, her amber eyes glittering. "New and reborn, Father! Your dear sister has returned...and will serve your cause. Chevalier! Who is it you serve, and what is your purpose?!"

Luna lifted her head and spoke monotonously. "...we serve the Lady Misery, and her father, King Pierrot. Our purpose is to conquer our old lands of Equestria, and to punish the oathbreakers." Misery smiled again, nodding. "...and what is it that you desire, my dear Luna?!" This drew a reaction from the cold-faced Alicorn, making her lips draw back in a snarl and fire to spring up in her red eyes. "Revenge! Revenge on those who betrayed us and our sister...revenge on Twilight Sparkle!" The response made Pierrot stay in his silence, as another laugh appeared from Misery.

Pierrot turned and stared at his daughter for a moment, before his frown turned into a light smile. "...you rise above my expectations, Misery. Your heart is as black as these very stones. I look forward to your growth in the near future..." The female alicorn bowed again, delighted with her father's praise. "Of course, Father. From now on, Luna will be our harbringer of wrath...she will lead the creatures spawned from the Tartarus Gate, and destroy our enemies. I have your own private Chevalier waiting for you...they are a great asset." Pierrot nodded, turning away as he spoke his farewell, exiting the chamber swiftly. Once he was gone, Misery's smile faded, and she looked down at Luna with a sad expression. "...I am so sorry, Auntie." Luna said nothing, simply doing the same as Pierrot had. Misery and Despair stood in silence, until the Chevalier spoke. "...Sister, you know that I, and all the others, will do everything to protect you if you made your move...why hesitate?"

Misery shook her head dejectedly. "...he is too powerful for now. He has the support of his armies. We cannot strike until his guard is down...or broken. Now, come here...you need blood to maintain your strength." She lowered her gown a little above her shoulder, and Despair gazed at the open spot hungrily. Looking at her for one more sign of approval, he leaned in and inserted his serrated teeth into her flesh, drawing a sigh from his sister as he dined. "...stay healthy, brother. Our time...will come. Once this...is over...we will be free. But not until...the end." The shrill roar of a dragon shook the chamber, drowning out any other noise made. Darkness has settled in Equestria...

~Twilight Sparkle, in the Citadel's courtyard~

The unicorn mare stared at the massive fortress being built out on the plains outside of Equinia, a piece of land that had been purchased three weeks ago by the mysterious organization who called themselves Salus Umbra. With their arrival, they brought gifts for nearly every faction, whether it was training, weaponry, or simply knowledge. They claimed they were against Pierrot as well, but Twilight still had an odd feeling about them. Something didn't sit right. Despite how close they were, nothing was known about them...not even their leaders, these 'Grand Masters', were known. But, they offered a substantial amount of aid, and thus were left alone...some-what. She shook her head, turning to her old friend and Chancellor of Equinia, Rainbow Dash. "Rainbow, has Colonel Striker sent any word lately...? Maybe stopped by the Citadel?" She tried not to sound eager, but Rainbow Dash saw right through it. The rainbow-maned pegasus laughed softly.

"Not that I am aware of, Twilight. But you know how stallions are...either they are too busy with minor stuff, or too afraid to make a move." Rainbow looked at Twilight's chest a bit worriedly. "...how are you feeling, by the way? Does it still hurt?" The unicorn shook her head, placing a hoof to the spot where she had been shot a month ago. She had infiltrated an R.L.F. secret bunker in order to send an important message through their communication systems, but had got shot by a trigger-happy stallion when she was escaping. The wound had been nearly-fatal, but she had survived due to the work of a surgeon named Dr. Ivy. "No, it is much better. It's almost healed, though it may leave a scar...modern medicine cannot prevent that from happening."

The pegasus mare nodded, looking back out at the nearly-repaired city of Equinia. So much had changed about it. The city was now split into different quarters, and a couple were given to the R.L.F. and L.E.H. for their aid during the rebuilding and 'Equinian Apocalypse'. Now, the factions were united in a common goal. The mysterious Freelancers had denied the offer for their own quarter in the city, prefering to keep their secrecy. Not that many complained, though, for they knew little enough of Freelancer as it is. The Citadel was still in its final stages of reconstruction, but it was drastically changed. There now existed several new additions to it, including a Great Hall so that the faction leaders can gather and discuss about policies, military matters, and other important subjects. Things had changed quite dramatically since a few months ago...and hopefully for the better.

Twilight turned toward the Citadel and smiled. "Come along, Rainbow. I am sure that there is business to attend to." The pegasus sighed loudly, following along behind her friend as they approached the Citadel, exchanging greetings with various ponies and non-ponies as they traversed the large courtyard to go about their daily routines.

-Dopple Citadel's Courtyard-

Dopple had a lot on his mind from this past month. He had finally settled into Equinia permanently. He decided to take the mantle of the faction leader of the Changelings. Even though his kind was extinct, he still represented there interest in memory. Although, it was hard for him, he was a warrior not a politician. He wished his Queen was still around to make the hard decision's. With no one to represent however, he wasn't given much say. The reason he even had a say was most likely out of pity for his people's genocide. It was only a theory though.

This month has also been a plague to him. Being a General he had his share of combat. Normally, the casualties of war never got to him. Ever since the Hive it has been different. Every night is an ever living nightmare for him. He can never sleep without seeing his men massacred and his Queen decapitated. The only emotions he feeds on are his own fear and pain. His lack of sleep and proper nourishment have also taken a toll on his physical appearance. What once was a proud, arrogant General now stood a tired, thin, looking Changeling. His former shiny black shell was now a dull, greyish colour. His teal eyes foggy and his wings hung from his back. If anypony knew better they would think Discord got to him.

As he always did He made sure that the only other living Changeling was happy. His daughter Replica. She was very happy to live in a different city, and made plenty of new friends at the school she now attended. She never commented on his appearance though. Either she didn't notice or she had respect for her father's property. It made no difference to him. Her new demeanor did make him feel some happiness. It seemed the only scars of her past that were left, were the ones that laid across her back and face. She much more vocal and never hid form him. Dopple decided to take Replica to work with him today. She always loved the Citadel as it reminded her of their Queen's castle at the Hive.

He magically held up a scroll with his schedule. His filly laid across his back sleeping. It was still pretty early for her, and he didn't have the heart to wake her up. As he walked he noticed the two most important mares in Equinia. He decided it would be rude not to say hello. He put the scroll he had away, and walked up to the two leaders.

He did not want to wake Replica up so in a quite and deadpan tone he said. "Twilight...Chancellor."

>>Chronarch (Citadel Halls)

The time mage sat in his desk muzzle deep in paperwork, depicting new spells and construction progress reports. His research had to be put on hold for now, but that didn't mean he couldn't start a project then leave it with another capable magi while they made progress on his theories. His breakthroughs have given the GEF a few military advancements.

He levitated a warp grenade in front of his face and inspected the weapon, it was truly a marvel of technology and magic. When detonated it would create an expanding sphere of unstable space-time that would shred matter. Chronarch smiled at the fruit of his loins, it wasn't a smile for happiness though. Back when when he first started his journey into the world of magic he had never expected to use his spells to harm anypony. It was Celestia that had turned him into a warrior, trained him to utilize his magic in combat. But she was gone now. True he despised the Princess, but he didn't want her dead. She did what she had to do to keep Equestria safe.

Doing what you have to do... He muttered to himself. Politicians and leaders greatest excuse to commit atrocities. We've fallen so far.

During this past month Chronarch's affliction had not subsided. There was a very real chance that the damage to his eye and leg were permanent. He wouldn't be able to hide it from everypony forever. Sighing, he rose from his work space and walked out of his chambers. He needed to walk around the Citadel and clear his mind.

>>Draxis (Equinia, Primary Sentinel Outpost)

He knew of Dopple's plight, but he had yet to approach the general. Was he afraid of what the changeling would have to say about him? No, that wasn't it. Draxis feared no mortal creature and as a Hive Lord there were few would could openly challenge him. Then why the wait, why the had he not contacted him? The answer was simple. The Schism.

Draxis and his brood of the changelings had abandoned Chrysalis and her hive, they had their reasons, but he doubted that any survivor would care. All they would see when they looked at him was a deserter who could have possibly turned the tide of that battle with his presence. They would look at the changelings of Equinia and ask why. Why did you not answer the cries of your people? Why did you not defend our queen? He felt guilty, not because he abandoned his people, they were no longer his people and Chrysalis was no longer his queen, but because he couldn't help them. No one deserves total annihilation.

He sat at his desk in the newly rebuilt Guard Base of Equinia and clopped his front perforated hooves together. His jagged black metal armor rattled as the plates slid across each other the there was a dull clank as his sword struck his armored withers. Not too long ago he swallowed his apprehension and wrote up a simple letter, a request to meet with Doppleganger in his office and sent it off with his pet Haxorus.

Soon his messenger hawk would find Doppleganger and deliver his letter the general.

~Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash, in the Citadel's Courtyard~

The two mares stopped and turned to Doppleganger, and Twilight smiled. "Good morning, Doppleganger. I assume you've-" She paused, raising herself up a little more to see a sleeping form on the changeling's back. Upon further examination, her eyes widened in surprise. "...is that...a changeling foal?" Rainbow Dash also stiffened in surprise, lifting up in the air a little bit with her wings before stiffling a gasp of her own. Twilight looked at the sleeping changeling and Doppleganger with a mix of amusement and interest.

Twilight could tell the young changeling was a female, and she noticed the scars on the foal's face and leg. Seeing the old wounds made her heart ache with pity and sorrow...no baby should ever suffer such a thing. "Rainbow, please go on ahead...no doubt Chronarch has something up his sleeve he wants to show off." The pegasus shook herself and nodded, lowering to the ground and trotted away, leaving the unicorn and changelings alone. With her friend gone, Twilight spoke up once more. "...whose is she? Is she yours, Doppleganger?"

-------

~Rainbow Dash, within the Citadel~

She entered into the halls through one of the many openings that led to the courtyard. G.E.F. soldiers saluted her as she passed, and she offered the same, her Chancellor's medallion drawing attention to her. Truthfully, she loved it...she was always a fan of attention, ever since she was a foal, and this was no exception. She was powerful, at the top of her game, and admired by her peers. Indeed, her sacrifice for saving Equinia during the fires had only further increased her fame. Foals cheered her name in the streets, pretending to be just like her in their games. The thought of it made her smile...she should write a book or something! Maybe she will when this was all over.

After a few moments, she spotted Chronarch in the halls and approached him with a smirk. "Hey there, Archmage. You doing anything...interesting...today?" Her heart thumped a little, and she glanced to the side embarrassedly. "Uh...if not...maybe you and I could...I don't know...get a drink or something?" Her embarrassment was even greater when she realized that she was stumbling on her words. Despite the stallion's obvious (to her) injuries, he was still handsome. It was remarkable more mares weren't falling over him, as was her opinion.

Dopple Citadel Courtyard-

Dopple nodded softly. "You are correct as always Twilight. This is my daughter Replica." He was confused as to why the mares were so surprised. He then remembered the scars. He knew that Twilight was curious so he told the mare her story. He did not spare any details. He told her about his wife, that day in the woods, how he wondered if it was her men that did this, and how they were his reason for becoming a General. "I wanted to make sure that it would never happen again...I failed." He quickly collected himself as he was on the verge of tears. He had little dignity these days but he would never cry in front of Twilight.

"It's a good thing she's recovered a little...the sight of a Unicorn used to traumatize her." He looked at Twilight for a moment as he said this. "It's a shame...the way she used to be before it happened...it reminded me of your boy." The mention of her son was something he hoped wouldn't upset her, either way he continued. "That day at the peace conference....when I saw him.. I wanted to introduce the two to each other." He breathed heavy. "I foolishly thought that they could've been friends..they both knew so little about the world that they now live in..." He let a small snort. "Friendship...a magic that doesn't seem to exist anymore these days..." He looked at his filly. "Would you like me to wake her up?"

-Lavender Bloom, Equinia, RLF sector-

Lavender knocked on the door of Applejack's office nervously, she hadn't seen the mare since the fiasco at the secret bunker up north. So much had happened in the last month. She had joined the RLF fully, been shipped off to Salus Umbra to join the Eternium Brigade, she'd been present at Free's funeral........ Heck, she'd give it all up for a normal life if she had the chance. "Normal wasn't really you quota was it Free......" She grumbled, it was him that threw her into this giant mess in the first place. Banging on the door again, the mare huffed as she pulled up the sniper rifle she carried on the sling attatched to her armour. The Eternium Brigade was brutal to say the least, in a month they had taught her more than any normal soldier would ever need on the battlefield. But if it meant she could fight in her brother's name......... She didn't have time to finish the thought as Applejack opened the door, a large grin on her face. The two mares embraced each other, Lavender had known her friend for most of her life, she served as her babysitter for Free.

"It's good to see 'ya sugarcube. How them Eternium Brigade ponies been treating you?" Applejack said, withdrawing from the hug and ushering her inside the office. It was nice enough, RLF flags adorning the walls and a small miniature apple tree sat in the corner of the room. "It has been a crazy month." Lavender said, taking a seat next to the general's desk. Applejack now ran the RLF along with Colonel Striker, a pony whom Lavender still didn't trust. After bantering for a bit, Applejack finally got down to business, putting on a more solemn expression. "Now see Lavender, truth is all the brass has been in chaos since the attack on the changeling hive not so long ago." The pegasus nodded, she had heard of what happened. It was supposedly the same perpetrator who had attacked Equinia, but nopony could be sure without some hard evidence. "The problem is, without troops stationed up there, we can't know when this new threat will make another blow. Now, before you go head over heels and boot yourself all the way up north, i'm giving you a choice on this. Most of The Eternium Brigade are grizzled veterans from the RLF GEF war, you're just a newbie. War is a dangerous thing, and sending you straight into an enemy we have little to no intel on whatsoever may not be the best thing. I won't stop you, but please, just consider not getting yourself killed?" Applejack finished in a cynical tone, a worried expression on her face. Losing Free must have been hard on her too, ironically she knew him better than his own sister.

Applejack already knew the answer, Lavender was too stubborn to back down from a fight, another trait she inherited from her brother. Getting up from her chair slowly, Lavender walked to the door silently. She stopped as she turned the handle, facing Applejack with a smile. "You know what he would do." Walking out from the door, she headed down to the mess hall, wanting to catch something to eat before she was shipped off to the arctic.

>>Chronarch (Within the Citadel with Rainbow Dash)

The stallion's ears perk up at the sound of a familiar voice. Before he had be enthralled by his own thoughts, all of Equestria and could be at an end. The weight of having the fate of the entire world based on the actions of only four groups threatened to crush him. He wished that he was just a no name pony, someone who could hide in their home and push their problem off on somepony else. However, that voice pulled him back to reality.

He turned his head slowly to met his the pony who addressed him.

"Hey there, Archmage. You doing anything...interesting...today?"

His amber eye met her magenta eyes briefly before she shied away from his. "You don't have to use titles with me Rainbow Dash." He said, giving her a warm half smile.

"Uh...if not...maybe you and I could...I don't know...get a drink or something?"

He mentally smiled at the scene in front of him. Rainbow Dash, fastest flier in Equestria and one of the proudest ponies around, was stumbling over her words. He could already feel some of the stress peeling off of him. "That actually sounds pretty nice." He walked over to her and gestured for her to take the lead.

~Twilight Sparkle, in the Citadel Courtyard with Doppleganger~

She listened to Doppleganger talk about his daughter...and his own 'failures'. She wanted to tell him that none of what happened at the Hive was his fault, and there was nothing he could have done except die as well...but she knew her words would be wasted. The mention of Azure, her kidnapped or dead adopted foal, brought a few painful emotional jolts, but she didn't show it. She had to remain strong. What Doppleganger said about friendship, she could only sigh. "...the magic of friendship died long ago for myself, but I wouldn't wish the same on others. Friends are a wonderful thing...but mine have all grown apart, except for Rainbow Dash. Even Rarity had only stayed because she thought Azure was her responsibility..."

When he asked if he should wake up Replica, Twilight shook her head gently and gave an even gentler smile. "...no, let the little one sleep. Perhaps I'll have the opportunity to talk to her when she is awake." She paused, looking at the scars on the baby changeling. Hesitating slightly, she whispered a special offer to Doppleganger. "If you want...I can ask Chronarch to possibly reverse the scars." It was something she almost never spoke of, she. Wouldn't even ask of it for herself from Chronarch. But...Replica was just a youngling, surely he would agree?

-------

~Rainbow Dash, inside the Citadel with Chronarch~

The rainbow-maned pegasus looked back at the Archmage and beamed when he had accepted her offer, her wings fluttering slightly. "Sweet!" After a moment, she would realize what she had just said, and blushed a bit...she had sounded just like she had when she was a filly. She hoped Chronarch wouldn't judge her. Clearing her throat, she pointed down one of the halls. "Ahem...well, there's an exit down in that direction that leads to the Celestial Quarter...I heard that a new pub opened up there."

As she led the way, her mind dug for something she could talk with Chronarch about, so that they wouldn't have to go all the way there in awkward silence. At last, she came upon a question she had been dying to ask him. So...Chronarch...can you tell me about how Equestria was like back in your time...? How much different was it? Were the princesses...well, I guess what I am trying to say is...were they the same? Were they happy?"

~Shining Armor and Azrael, on a balcony at the Salus Umbra Bund~

(Something to listen to while reading this :) )

The wind blew through Shining Armor's black cloak, digging at the thin openings under his half-mask. It felt good against his blue, high-lighted mane, and it reminded him of the old days...before the Revolution, with his sister Twilight and his wife, Cadence. He would have shed a tear, if his emotions weren't as dead as those he presided over. Being the Grand Master of Death, he was to be in constant contact with the Underworld, and lately...he felt torn inside. Something had happened with the fall of the Royal Hive of the Changelings...something sinister. All he could tell was that a large amount of souls had escaped, for whatever reason, and that they were among the living once more. Shining Armor turned to settle his dark-blue gaze on his compatriot, Azrael.

Azrael was an excessively large, steel-plated griffon who had no spot open in his metal carapace. Not a single feather showed, and despite what should have been ungodly heavy, he still flied with ease. As to be expected with the Grand Master of Winds. His gaze drifted to the odd-looking broadsword on the griffon's back, which had constantly-rotating spikes where the edges should have been. In combat, they would move like a blur...but for now they turned only to keep the gears from stiffening. Every movement the dangerous griffon made was dead-silent, something that still confused Shining Armor after six years. When the armored griffon turned his massive head to his unicorn companion, Shining Armor continued to look at him, and after a moment looked back at the distant Equinia.

"...I will be heading to the arctic wastes with a platoon of the Eternium Brigade to gather information of Pierrot's movements. From the agony you had displayed a month ago...and the fact that the Hive was destroyed at the same time...means they opened the Tartarus Gate. If any of the E.B. are to survive, I must join them." Azrael said through his helm, Shining Armor nodding in agreement with him. Indeed, if the Gate was opened...any kind of monster could have been created, and if it is unknown...that is even more dangerous. "I still feel it should be my duty to do so. The realms of Death are my responsibility..." The stallion remarked coldly, drawing a rough laugh from Azrael. "Your purpose is to handle the dead in the Underworld...these dead are in our world. Our best fighter must go now, and that is I." The griffon wasn't gloating, for he was stating a fact. His fighting prowess was legendary, and that broadsword on his back only heightened that reputation. Shining Armor grunted, continuing to look at the distant city.

"...dark times come upon us, Azrael. I fear our worries have just begun."

"But we'll be ready. Pierrot will fail in this endeavor...he must, if the world, much less this continent, is going to survive. I must go."

Shining Armor turned to his companion, but the griffon was already gone, his dark silhouette shrinking against the horizon. Bloody silent griffon...one would never know he was there until that monstrous blade had already carved through your spine.

>>Chronarch (Citadel with Rainbow Dash)

The unicorn nodded and started to trot beside her. Rainbow's question was sort definitely different, but he can't say that he didn't expect it Still, it left the stallion wondering exactly how he should answer. He closed his eyes and thought about it for a moment. He hummed to himself as he ran over the details of his past, finally satisfied with what he wanted to tell her, he glanced over at the mare. "Well, I guess the best way to describe it would be "the same but different". " He said. "It was peaceful and ponies were happy for the most part, even though taking up arms was a little more common back then. Equestria was a little bit more dangerous and wild too. It had more unsettled land out there to tame and explore. A daring and adventurous young pony could make a name for themselves by undertaking grand quests!" He gave the mare a grin and chuckled a little. "I have a feeling that you would've liked it."

The second part of the pegasus' question gripped at his chest like a vice. His feelings were torn when it came to Celestia. Loathing for imprisoning him and taking away everything that was dear to him, but at the same time he couldn't deny the years of friendship the two shared. It was enough to make him want to scream, cry, laugh, and hop all at the same time but instead he settled with a sigh. "Luna was banished at the time, so there was an obvious hole in Celestia's heart. I'd like to think we shared a quite a few happy moments, but I could still tell that she was lonely. Sometimes she'd look up at the moon and just disconnect from reality. Celestia was as happy as she could be have been, considering..." The sentence was left there dangling. He decided to stop there, what came next was the first dominoes that ruined everything in his life.

"I'm happy to know that they were reunited, despite how short a time it was." He searched his mind for a new topic. He determined not to let an awkward silence overtake the situation. A topic stuck out in his head, something she might be interested in. "Even before everything that's happened, it doesn't seem like monster attacks were a thing nowadays. I remember when I was a little colt, we had to fight off timber wolves, scorpio's, and Ursa's just to keep our farms safe. What happened to all of those creatures?"

4-6-9er A.K.A Harmony (Freelancer HQ Main Hanger)

The large cavenous hanger was heavy with activity as maintenance crews and ground crews scrambled along the main floor tending to the incoming and outgoing air traffic of fighter-bombers performing routine patrols, supply craft delivering supplies and materials from stations deployed across Equestria and various other aircraft coming and going from the location, however a blonde-maned blue Pegasus was sitting on top of her beloved craft wearing her flight helmet loosely, using it's integrated technological systems to assist her calibrations with maintenance upgrading and refitting gear strewn next to her as she unfolded parts of the hull's armour to get inside the framework. "The next time we fly through AA fire I swear to Celestia someone keeps messing with my bird..." she muttered bitterly as she started working on the more complex inner workings of the craft irritated by the thought of somepony toying with her precious baby.

She was in the middle of making modifications to her craft in preparation of the rumored re-fits that Freelancer's air force would undergo meaning older models of current aircraft would be s****ped or replaced with new more superior types of craft or newer vastly improved models, which Harmony venomously disliked upon seeing the newer versions dreading the fact that her bird could be next on the chopping block for the s**** when it would get reviewed or entered into the performance trials, she worked tirelessly for the last several week or so to modernize and upgrade her precious dropship to meet the new standards that will be in place soon. "Don't worry baby I'll never let 'em send you to be s****ped, You've never let me down before, we'll show them you can still pack a frakking punch, I promise..." she whispered quietly to her ship stroking the hull gently as she promised to do everything she could to make sure her dropship is still deemed combat-capable to the committee in charge of overseeing the refits.

Yet despite all her efforts she was still one mare and the odds were stacked against her favour, but she wasn't alone as her mostly secret lover Applebloom or Agent Virginia as she's officially designated as helped and supported her every step of the way, while not common knowledge some of the other pilots figured it out that the two were together never told out of respect she signed happily thinking of her sweet Apple smiling behind her helmet while she continued working constantly.

Eventually she spotted one of the ground crews messing around with one of her refit kits she prepped while readying flight equipment for one of the newer aircraft, "Hey don't touch that it's got vital equipment in it!" she urged as the crews continued onward, cursing under her breath she stopped to examine the kits for damage and swore loudly as one of the more important components was missing, it was like everything that could go wrong was slowly going wrong like some unknown powerful force was deliberately trying to sabotage her efforts on refitting her dropship so it would fail in the trials.

The Director, Agent Carolina, Agents North and South Dakota and the Counselor (one of the Briefing rooms in the Intelligence sector of Freelancer HQ)

The Director and the Counselor were waiting for the Agents to arrive as the Counselor fired up the holographic projections on a nearby board he started discussing about the events of the royal hive, "Counselor, while I do believe the data is accurate it's not physically possible for a entire race to just...Vanish within just mere hours, disturbing as it may be we must continue as planned if we have any hope of preparing for the coming threat..." the Director stated as he reviewed the findings from the data retrieved from the Delta X-02 raid little over a month ago, "However I do find it amusing that now they're starting to take note of our handiwork, they are not so...dense nor do they squander such important gifts as the Principality once did...I find it quite ironic given the circumstances..." he mused solemnly as he tapped a code into the dataslate reviewing new Agent files eventually one catching his eye, "Ex...Shade Corps...Turned...Agent?!" he double taked not believing the intel for a moment before smirking overly very darkly, "Well well well, it seemed they aren't so loyal as they claim, this will be interesting." He chuckled finding the situation hilarious as the Shade Corp often called themselves the loyalist of the loyal in the GEF military.

The Director was ready as he handed the dataslate to the Counselor, the Agents entered with Agent Carolina leading them in she was followed by the twin Dakota Agents still healing over the injuries North and South took during the raid, they reached the center opposite the Director and the Counselor they saluted the Director with Carolina firmly and crisply saluting him personally, her unquestioning loyalty to the Director was very evident which made South and the more troublemaking Agents in Freelancer's ranks despise her finding her attitude very irritating often talking about her behind her back like schoolchildren much to Carolina's annoyance.

"At ease Agents. The data you recovered from the Delta X-02 facility has pinpointed the locations of very important targets of Freelancer to hit in the coming weeks, however compiling further intelligence and plans for these raids will be top priority and will take some time to carry out. In the meantime you will be held in reserve while we assess the current situation so keep training and catch a breather while you can, Excellent work Agents." The Director briefed the Agents in a professorially military manner and congratulated them on a mostly successful raid as holograms projected the various Agent Fireteam leaderboard with Carolina's at the top of the board.

"Thank you sir!" The Agents swiftly replied saluting while the Director turned to the Counselor, "Counselor please update the Fireteam board in light of this raid." he requested as the Counselor acknowledged the Director's request and tapped a series of codes into the dataslate he held and the board showed and changed as North was promoted while South was demoted, in shock South angrily ripped her helmet off her Orchid coat and lightish-grey and green dyed-striped mane was revealed, "I thought you said the mission was a success , Sir?" South protested in anger as she watched her position on the fireteam board drop. "One of the main mission objectives was Stealth. Your carelessness revealed us and our intentions to the enemy which will make our next missions more difficult! They'll be ready for us. Dismissed." The Director rebuttal-ed cold and firmly stating the facts and consequences of South's recklessness. South stormed to the door in a blind rage while the North and Carolina looked on uneasy about South's reaction.

"Think I should talk to her?..." Carolina quietly whispered to South's brother North, showing concern for South's aggressive outburst, then as she asked him South stormed out and punched a control panel hard causing it to break and fall off the wall and onto the floor as she stormed out. "Maybe we wanna give her a minute...Or two..." North replied cautiously giving Carolina a bit of a warning trying to not cause a fight that'd be rather nasty knowing how his Sister fights.

Dopple Citadel Courtyard-

His eyes were wide as Twilight made her proposal. He couldn't believe that his daughter could look like a normal Changeling again. "H-he can really do that?" He looked at the mare with eyes of hope. "Nothing would make me happier.." He gave the mare a smile. His daughter can fully recover she could get her wing back and he can teach her to fly. He didn't even care that he was crying.

"B-but.." He stopped and looked at Twilight. "A decision like that is not mine to make." He looked at the sun to check what time it was. He then looked at his daughter. "I don't like her sleeping in anyway." He took the filly off of his back and gently set her down. He gave Twilight a quick smile as he nuzzled Replica until she opened her large eyes.

~Rainbow Dash, Citadel»Celestial Quarter~

The pegasus mare listened intently as Chronarch explained how Equestria was like in. His time, how wild and chaotic it was, where the strong survived and prospered. When she heard of 'grand quests', her smile widened into a grin. He was right, she would have liked it back then. When she spoke her second question, she knew that it had been a terrible choice, and instantly regreted it. She knew partially about the touchy relationship Chronarch and Celestia had shared, but had forgotten at that moment. She winced inwardly at what she could have done to Chronarch emotionally from even bringing the subject up.

When he talked about it, she had the urge to comfort him, but knew that nothing she could do would ease that pain. She eagerly took up the other topic that Chronarch produced, wanting to leave the other behind. "Monsters, huh? Well, don't get me wrong, we had the occasional few monsters in the Everfree Forest and the wilderness, but the only real monster threats were dragons and a few manticore or hydras, and even then they almost never appeared. It wasn't till the Revolution in which they became active again, but were put down...swiftly. I would say that either many are extinct now, possibly hiding, or just moved on from Equestria." The discussion brought back a memory from the old days before the Revolution, of how she and her other five friends had all dealt with such creatures in the most bizarre, innocent ways...it made her yearn for those times to be back once more, but she knew that wouldn't ever happen. The six of them were scattered on the wind, only a couple connected by the small strand of friendship left.

When they began to exit one of the Citadel's gates and making for a serene, garden-like part of the city, she began to speak again. "...you know, I still crave for adventure. I had dreams of becoming a Wonderbolt, and traveling across Equestria as a heroine...but that ended many years ago. My passions...lie elsewhere now." The gentle scent of flowers and fruit appeared on the breeze, mirroring the botanical scenery of the Celestial Quarter. It had been a part of Canterlot before it was sacked, and was one of the few lucky areas not destroyed by the 'Equinian Apocalypse', and still retained it's natural beauty and glorious architecture. This was a place of arts, and many treated it as such. Rainbow Dash let out a long sigh, feeling the tension ease by simply being in this peaceful place.

(I'll have responses for everyone else tomorrow, sorry for the delay ^^')

Col. Star Striker - Equestrian Aerospace Defense Command Facility (RLF Secret Bunker)

(Aprox. 1 month ago)

Striker sits quietly in his office going over the latest field reports however he can't focus. He is still worried about Twilight. Today she was medivac'ed back to Equina after she was patched up and stablized. Striker couldn't even say goodbye. Suddenly, Specialist Static, enters his office. The look on his face wasn't assuring that it was good news...

"Sir!"

"Yes, what is it, Specialist?"

"Sir, I have the surveillance reports of the attack on the Changeling stronghold..." he says than goes silent.

"... and?" Striker asks in a concerned curiousity.

"You may want to look at this yourself, sir..."

Static sets the file down down, salutes, and then departs for his comm station. The Colonel looks opens the file and what he sees... it disturbs him... There are pictures of the battlefield littered with the corpses of Changeling warriors... of their citadel burning... Like what happened during the Uprising but far worse... Striker almost vomits at the sight. Then he gets to reading the printed report of the enemy threat. Apparently they only possess weapons of antiquity and can be considered a class of hoplites but their numbers... Approximated pony-power from visual surveillance reports that the enemy's strenght numbers in a minimum of 250,000. This is the lowest possible estimation we can conclude at this time. Reports also conclude that the enemy forces are very durable and have superpony abilities of rapid regeneration and strength. Also... If that wasn't bad enough, towards the end of the report, something makes Striker's heart literally skip a beat. Sweat begins to drip down his mane. His eyes are narrowed and filled with horror. From the last available recording of surveilance equipement before going offline revealed that the enemy force was lead by at least 2 alicorns... "Sweet Celestia's mercy..." Striker silently closes the file and picks up his phone and dials Major Briggs.

"Yes, sir?"

"Major, we have serious threat to our national security. I'm sending you a file than you need to read and then brief all appropriate personel on said intel."

"How serious is this, sir?"

"Serious enough that I will activate the Spartan Iniative..."

"Oh dear Luna's grace... what should we do, sir?"

"Prepare for war..."

Striker hangs up. He then proceeds out of his office and hands the file back Static, telling him to convey the intel to Maj. Briggs. The Colonel then makes his way to the main elevator and proceeds to the lowest floor of the complex by inputting a secret code at the elevator's overide terminal. Nearly 10 stories down from the maintenance level Colonel Striker arrives. Before him is along lit hall with an airlocked door at the end, guarded by two unicorns. There uniforms indicate they are special forces, Delta Force to be exact. The RLF doesn't really have the funds for new uniforms so they just made patches for the existing REA uniforms they still wear. They salute him as Striker accesses the massive door's terminal.

*Voice recognition... identification and passphrase required* the computer replies to Striker.

"Striker... Colonel... X-Ray,1,1,7, Sierra, 2,1,5..."

*Voice recognition accepted... retinal scan required....* Striker holds his eye up to the scanning device before him on the terminal.

*Retinal scan approved... welcome Colonel Star Striker...*

Striker proceeds inside the airlock into a scrub-room.

*Caution... clean room ahead... activation of sanitation protocal initiated... please standby...* Striker stands silently as a laser examines his body and then a light mist is sprayed all about hids body.

*Sterilization complete... please proceed...*

As the Colonel enters the clean-room he is greated by a pony in a white coat; obviously a scientist. He is the RLF's head of Military Research and Development, a one and only Dr. Maximus Xyance. "Ah... well if isn't our new dear Colonel. Congrats on your promotion, sir." he smiles behind his scrubs and glasses. "I take it that you are here for the progress report?"

"Not exactly..." he replies in a stern and emotionless voice.

Chronarch (Celestial Quarter)

He could see the reverie in her eyes, and how the subject brought back memories of a better time for her. He could understand, there was little for him here at the moment. "I feel bad for them really, the creatures that is. You know one of my goals when I first started to serious study magic was to find away to separate civilization from them. You know, a clean, peaceful solution to the problem."

"I bet that even as a filly you aimed high, I envy that. I've only ever sought to be adequate, I wouldn't be where I am today had the chance not been given to me. Even after you original dream was pretty much shot you found something else to drive you. Not everypony would be able to do that...I haven't been able to do that." He looked at her relaxed state, normally they'd only be in each other's presence when work was involved. With the tension removed from her form, Rainbow Dash truly a mare to behold. "I like how you mentioned being a heroine, like it was some dead dream. You are a heroine..." He said as he stepped forward.

A cool breeze ran truth his mane and snaked across his body. The air was fragrant, as if he were trotting through the old royal gardens. Sunlight flooded the Celestial Quarter, drawing attention to its beautifully coloured flora and original Canterlot architecture. The Archmage hadn't been this comfortable since before all of the insanity started. He let his eyes wander the scenery, brightly coloured purple flowers grew in a tight knit fashion across the crosshatched planking of a stone archway. "Beautiful, physics explains how its possible, but the heart is what truly interprets the scene." He said under him breath.

~Twilight Sparkle, in the Citadel Courtyard~

She listened to Doppleganger as he talked, surprised to see tears in the normally-strong Changeling. However, she shoved that piece of information to the side and focused on the discussion at hand as he woke up Replica. "...it is your decision, Doppleganger. By the time she is old enough to make the choice herself...it'll be too late. Not even Chronarch can reverse a wound that is many years old..." She fell silent as Replica began to stir, watching the young changeling open her eyes and look around. Twilight put on a gentle smile, not wanting to scare the little thing.

"...hello there, Replica. Did you sleep well? I'm Twilight...a friend of your father."

-------

~Lypris, on the rooftops of the Citadel near the Courtyard~

The gray-cloaked female watched ominously from the shadows of one of the Citadel's many spired towers, her fierce red eyes gazing down at Doppleganger and Twilight. A former soldier, and a monster...that's all they were. To Lypris, they were both her enemies now...as were all her old allies and colleagues. She gritted her serrated teeth together at seeing the two talking calmly to each other, for it irritated her immensely. Doppleganger, the great general she had come to respect and even care for, was nothing but a shadow of his former self, and Twilight...a beast hiding behind a smile. But then again...was she truly any different now? A cold voice whispered inside her head; Who are you to judge, when you are a monster yourself? A creature unholy beyond anything they could be.

The words stung, but they were true. She had no right to judge, no right to anything but to fight in the name of her new Queen. That was the duty of her kind...the duty of her new species. The pressure she was applying to the stone roof was creating cracks in the solid rock, and she lifted her hoof up gently. Even after a whole month, she had been unable to control this new-found power of hers...something she had gotten in return for her ability to shapeshift. With her 'transformation', she and her fellows had lost that ability, but what they got in return was so much...greater. The hunger gripped at her, she would have to feed soon. When Doppleganger began to lower the changeling foal from his back, Lypris moved to avoid being spotted by the former general, making a hiss in spite of herself. The gray cowl did nothing to warm her from the frigid air, all it served was a way to get to prey undetected.

Looking at the foal she remembered as Replica, her heart became lanced by pain. The life she had led before...all gone and never to be regained. She still had parts of her former life that she couldn't remember, especially whether that foal was hers or not. The thought struck her as odd; why should she care? She had a new family now...one that needed her to finish what she started here today. Her 'Queen' needed her...and thus she will obey without question. Lypris turned away from the Courtyard, and took off in a blur of gray.

~Agent Virginia (Applebloom), Freelancer HQ, Training Chamber~

Applebloom ducked as a battle knife zoomed past her ear, cutting close to the tip and slicing off a few strands of mane. Twisting, she brought her leg out and caught the attacking agent's arm beneath his elbow, kicking it aside and using her other leg to strike his face, the blow sending him hurling to the ground and the knife to drop. Leaping away, she avoided the slashes of another agent who was also part of the training. Her face remained smooth and calm during the entire encounter, her heartbeat and breathing as normal as ever. The training she had endured in the Shade Corps had honed her body into a weapon of severe fighting prowess. Seeing an opening, she struck the out-stretched hoof of the agent and sent the army knife spiraling away, and used her own hoof to hit the very center of his chest, hearing the breath get knocked out of him and possibly a rib cracking. That was a warning for her to tone it down a little.

Stepping away, she waited for the two agents to recover, her orange eyes as cold as ever. Hesitating, the agents took her in with wary stares before resuming their onslaught. Onward they came as a pair, making Applebloom retreat from the whirlwind of deadly slashes and thrusts, even the occasional kick or punch. After being pressed against a wall, she quickly turned around and pressed her legs on it, pushing and launching herself over her attackers. While in midair, she spun in a vortex of kicks and landing blows on both of their heads, landing and watching in satisfaction as the two of them fell against the wall, out cold from the precise blows on the sides of their skulls. Taking them in, she relaxed her stance and straightened, turning away from them and proceeding toward the exit of the training room. She hadn't broken a sweat.

After exiting the chamber, she went over to the rack and began to re-equip her standard Agent's uniform, slidding it over her exposed legs and arms, as well as her practice suit. It had been some time since she joined Freelancer, and ever since then she had been trying to decide whether she regretted the choice or not. Even now, it was difficult to choose. She had many things to be greatful for...but also many to be miserable over. Applebloom let out an audible, withdrawn sigh as she put her badge on her right breast. It was too late to change anything now.

~Rainbow Dash, in the Celestial Quarter of Equinia with Chronarch~

The pegasus mare could only smile in embarrassment as the Archmage complimented her. She didn't think herself to be a great pony...especially not a heroine. Rainbow did what she thought she had to do, that was all she had been doing the past six years. She had joined the N.E.O. because she thought the Princesses no longer deserved the throne, and to protect her friends. She had become a Chancellor so she could protect the remnants of the Ponyville citizens who had lost their homes during the Revolution, and to help push Equestria to a better tomorrow. She had saved Equinia and put herself in a temporary coma, just for the safety of the families she had to protect...she wasn't a heroine...simply a mare who tried her best.

Her thoughts were dragged away by the beauty of their surroundings. The floral scents, the inspired architecture...citizens from all over Equinia came here to purvey their arts, ranging from singing, dancing, painting, and even acting. As they walked through the garden-like quarter, they passed a stage with a decently-sized crowd for this early time of day. The actors were performing the scene of Discord's defeat at the hands of herself and the other five ponies in the famous 'Mane Six', and seeing it brought back fond memories of those days. Not waiting to see more, she led Chronarch further along. There was a special bar she had seen during her flying rounds the other day...where was it? "Aha! There it is!" Rainbow Dash cried as she pointed out a seemingly-popular, dome-like building. The name of the place was pronounced loudly on a streaming banner above the doors; 'Harmony's Rest' so it was called. Certainly a name that fit the rest of the Celestial Quarter.

Smiling, she rushed Chronarch along toward the building. At the doors stood two bouncers, who waved as she and her friend came up to them. The large stallion on the right grinned at her. "Hello, Chancellor. I see you brought a friend today. He looks familiar..." The mare smiled in return, seeing the earth pony's inquisitive gaze on Chronarch. "He's the Archmage within the Citadel. I'm buying him a few drinks today." The stallion blinked, before opening the door hastily and smiling sheepishly. "Very sorry, sir. Please take no offense of my ignorance...you two may go in." Rainbow nodded in thanks to the bulky pony, as she and Chronarch went inside.

(Can't fit more  )

Dopple and Replica Citadel Courtyard-

Replica stifled a small young as she stood up. She smiled at the purple Unicorn in front of her. "H-hello Ms. Sparkle...M-my P-Papa has told me a lot about you." Replica then looked up at Dopple and smiled at him. He gave a small blush of embarrassment as the filly nuzzled his leg. Dopple decided to get to the point. "Uhm yes Replica...my good friend here has a special request for you. Something that will make you verrrry happy." The filly then turned to Twilight with large eyes of curiosity.

"You see Twilight being a race linked through a hive mind connection everyling must be included in an important decision. Being that this is a life choice for my daughter and not me, it shall be her call. Even as a filly this is her decision." He always loved the face Twilight made when he told her something new. Even as a dictator she was still a nerd. (Sorry!) "Oh that reminds me! I believe that I may actually have come up with something to combat the Crystal Empire! I am very eager to propose it at the next Council meeting!"

>Agent Foxtrot-117 (Nova), Freelancer HQ

Nova briskly walked over to the training zone to oversee the new batch of agents only to discover that it was already over, the powerful and large fully armoured Agent strode past the new agents standing a good intimidating foot or 2 taller than them looking like a lone titan he studied them closely for a moment scanning their Freelancer IFF's, the newer agents grew terrified of this large walking tank as his reputation was legendary among Freelancer, he was once a honourable and determined pegasus who didn't even know the meaning of losing, he fought for the side of honesty, valor....Loyalty. But alas as he continued fighting he began to lose all he held dear to him until all that was left was darkness and ashes... He is now the only known last of the Original Freelancer Agents, while still fighting for what he perceives as "good" or what's "Right" he is still a soldier moulded and perfected into the ultimate machine of war by Freelancer.

He was doing his daily rounds as he spoke with the new agents, overseeing their training while he was one of the most powerful of the Agents, his role seemed to be relegated to training the next generation of agents. He occasionally took to the training fields on 1-on-1 duels with promising and the top of the class recruits showing them what it meant to become the best of the best although he came up on top everytime he made sure he taught them to the fullest of his abilities, like a mentor he trained them and prepared them for the next step of becoming an Agent, with a notably higher success rate Nova's training has produced higher quality Agents, he was satisfied with his role but he sometimes yearned to be fielded to combat again. But with battles being fought with intelligence and deception and not arms or firepower, there was little for the last original Freelancer Agent to do in the meantime.

He noticed three new Agents with injuries similar to that induced by a style non other than the Shade Corp they were carried off by medical staff who were heading to Recovery medical ward, following the agents he spotted a new Red-mane'd orange-eyed agent who looked withdrawn, miserable and alone in standard uniform he walked over to her concerned for her, "Agent Virginia, is something wrong?, you seem conflicted and sad." he asked her quietly wishing not to cause distress to the new agent by his rather large and intimidating appearance, "Your performance on the training zone was impressive if not overly brutal, Shade corp training?" Nova complimented her performance on the training noticing the brutal style of the Shade corp, he sat next to her in a relaxed and calm state.

Chronarch (Celestial Quarter with RD)

He watched a little of the enactment of the elements battle with Discord god of chaos, he was quite interested to see how history thought the event went.

Chronarch was brought out of admiration by Rainbow Dash's sudden and jarring discovery of the bar. The rainbow maned mare hurried him along the path, causing the mage to barely catch a glance at the vibrant banner above the establishment.

He raised his hoof and prepared to introduce himself but Dash beat him to the punch. Chronarch nodded and accepted the bouncer's apology. "Think nothing of it." He said to the earth pony as he followed Dash inside.

"I'll take that a sign that I need to come out of my study more."

~Twilight Sparkle, in the Citadel Courtyard~

(Twilight is a dictator, huh Dopple? Okay...I'll remember that... :shifty: )

The mare returned Replica's smile. "Oh, has he now? Well, I do have an important question to ask..." Listening to Doppleganger's explanation, she sighed inwardly. There was no other way to do this, it seemed. When he also mentioned a combat resolution against the Crystal Empire, her ears perked slightly. "Truly? Well, I cannot wait to hear it...anything would be helpful at this point. Now to the matter at hand...Replica? How would you like those scars...to go away? I can arrange it." She waited for the little changeling to respond patiently.

-------

~Agent Virginia (Applebloom), Freelancer HQ~

She lifted her head and looked up at Agent Nova, surprised at his sudden appearance. His genuine concern for her was touching, for she really hadn't been an Agent for very long. Still, though, she wouldn't open herself up entirely. "...just dwellin' on the past, Nova. Nothin' more than that...I don't see the Apple family ever gettin' back together and buckin' apples again. I guess that is what makes me sadder than a drunk without ale." Glancing out the window that showed the training room, she saw a few blood stains being cleaned by a few lower-ranked Freelancers, and laughed nervously.

"I guess I was too rough on them, huh? Can't really help it...them Shade Corps trainers knew their stuff when it came to makin' our bodies into weapons as lethal as guns." Her eyes clouded a bit, as she mouthed something her drill instructer had once told her; "...only the best for the Federation and the innocent of Equestria...we bleed and commit sin so others don't have to." Contrary to popular belief, Corps agents did have emotions...they weren't valued because of unparalleled loyalty. They were valued because of their patriotism towards their country, and willing to take on the burdens no one else could handle. She remembered what one of her friends in the training camp had told ber before he died, about his wish to spare others of the unfortunate fate his family suffered in the Great Purge. Thinking about those times made her shiver...it was over and done with. She fulfilled her obligations, that is why no other Operative had been sent after her.

"Nova...do ya mind if I ask you somethin' important? Or rather, tell ya somethin' that has been troublin' me for...a very long time? You've been one of the kindest folk here, so...I feel I can trust ya."

-------

~Rainbow Dash, within the 'Harmony's Rest' bar in Equinia with Chronarch~

As they went inside the bar, they fell witness to a delightful sight. Dozens of patrons sat among the many tables and bars, laughing and carrousing without a care in the world. The walls and floors were painted to look as if the entire place was built on a cloud, with blue skies and beautifully drawn avians above. Why, things were so peaceful and friendly in here that even a few pairs of G.E.F. and R.L.F. troopers were having drinks together, hollering at jokes and stories they shared. Rainbow Dash couldn't help but smile...this is how things should be; complete harmony.

"Let's go find a seat, okay? I'm rather parched!" Nudging him playfully, she set off toward one of the many lined up bar sets, talking to one of the bartenders who gestured to one of the booths against the wall. Nodding to him and saying thanks, Rainbow Dash waved to Chronarch to follow and continued on toward the white-cushioned booth, scooting in and resting against the cloud-soft furniture. Why, if she didn't know better, she would have thought they were real clouds!

Dopple and Replica Citadel Courtyard-

Replicas eyes went the size of dinner plates. She looked up at her father and noticed he had the same warm smile as the Unicorn before her. She had to make sure that this wasn't another dream. She put a hoof up to her face and traced the scar on her eye. She started to sniffle. The idea of her being normal again was something the filly always wanted. The sniffles turned to hiccups and the hiccups turned to sobs. She quickly rocketed onto Twilights leg sobbing loudly as she clung to the mare.

Dopple could only smile at the scene before him. "Well my lady..you have your answer." His smile only grew warmer as he saw Replica curl up on the mares side. It seemed she made a new friend. "And yes I believe I do have a plan...call it drastic but it is something I know can't fail! Although, it will be a risky plan, and some of the council members will oppose it given the circumstances but it will work and it will work well."

"Doctor... let me inform you that the situation is dire... we are not fighting a normal enemy but something far more dark and powerful. For Luna's grace, Max, they are lead by Alicorns! How am I supposed to stand up to that? Just send battalions of my men to get slaughtered?!?!" he roars with anger.

Maximus stands stunned by his commander's speach. Not from Striker's voice but his words... if Alicorns are not on your side then you are in for a really bad day... He gulps and pleads one last time. "Striker, sir, there must be another way... do we not have powerful allies such as Queen Chrysalis of the Changelings? Perhaps we can work something out with Ms. Twilight Sparkle? Maybe the Freelancer Organization?"

Striker shakes his head. "Chrysalis' stronghold was attacked and she is MIA, most likely KIA and to my knowledge the Freelancers have dropped off the radar. No contact has been made with them for some time. As for Ms. Twilight..." A rush of various emotions flood his concious from saying her name...He looks down remembering his failure to protect her in his own base. "She is probably not in any condition to fight..." The Colonel raises his head with a stern but proud look. "... but I am. You know my record, Maximus. I will have far more likely of a chance of surviving than any other of our personel. You and I both know this."

Dr. Xyance adjusts his glasses with a lack of emotion. He is clearly unhappy with the choice before him. "As a scientist, I must trust my reason over my emotions. I conclude you are correct in your hypothosis. I just pray you will live through this."

"I have endured worse..."

"No... you haven't...." He turns to his colleagues. "Run a diagnostic of augmentation proceedure equipment and systems." He then looks back at Striker. "Because of your age, sir. You will need an extra step inorder to increase your chances of surviving the augmentation as well as being battle ready in time. This will be the worst month of your life... but it may just be worth it." His eyes shift to his left upon a fellow doctor with a stern look of his own. "Prep the operating room, then the paitent for the PHONIEX Monocyte Breeder implantation process..."

>Agent Foxtrot-117 (Nova), with Agent Virginia (Applebloom) at Freelancer HQ<

Nova listened to Virginia intently absorbing the information she told before he noticed a slight sadness in her voice as she reminisced about the past, about her life before the Revolution although he felt for the young agent's plight as no-one in Freelancer got off scot free prior to joining, some worse then others while most just joined because they mistook Freelancer's message of preservation and conservation too far and joined out of blind xenophobia of other species like the now extinct Changelings. "You miss your life prior to the Revolution don't you? Back to a time of innocence where atrocities were just a myth and didn't occur on a weekly even daily basis, before the dark times...Before all of this ever happened..." He started as he theorized her feelings summing them up from her then continued, "We, even the best of us have those moments where we wish we could just...Wake up from this...Nightmare, to a better time where things were normal and where death wasn't so rampant and the norm." he paused as Virginia looked out to the Training room and noticed how her laugh was slightly awkward and nervous and became even more concerned as she displayed symptoms of an emotional flashback until he turned her around facing him directly so he could address her properly.

"Virginia, with all the agents I've taught recently you are one of the best...Why?, because you're unique, you've never let your allies and your brother and sister agents down I've never seen you give up or do anything stupid that would get any of your squad mates killed if it was a real combat situation, unlike some other agents I've been trying to teach, you have faced down what a regular soldier would turn and flee from in blind terror. You still remember where you came from, what makes you as you are. Never forget that, Virginia...Your allies won't give up on you if you won't give up on them and I'm sure as hell not giving up on you, got that?" He addressed her hoping to cheer her up a little as he gave somewhat of a little speech to Virgina reminding her of what made her stand out from the others before he let go and returned to his relaxed and calm state. "Of course it's no problem. What's on your mind Virginia?" Nova asked curiously and smiled at Virginia's compliment before waiting for what she had to share.

>Unknown, Near the Equinian Celestial Quarter

The district of the capital was shining with all sorts of magnificent lights as the bars, casinos and entertainment outings were active and bustling with activity as always, the streets were rife with groups of party-goers, regulars, military soldiers and officers in off-duty uniforms and all manner of patrons just having a good time and partying, music and the sounds swallowed the city as it celebrated just being alive after all the war, death and the apocalypse which levelled the entire city in little over a month ago, while the people had their fun and forgetting all their troubles there was danger still looming over the city while mysterious forces had their eyes on it ever vigilantly, studying it for weakness and cracks in the armour of it's infrastructure and military.

In one of the more shady and darker zones of the district, shadows and lawless crime engulfed the area, gangs and other unspeakable horrors were still alight despite all the events before that took place in the city refused to die like an unstoppable virus forever embedded in the soul of Equina, a perfect place to hide. in an abandoned run down apartment complex near the heart of the darkness and corruption of the seedier district, a large group of mysterious ponies camped out in one of the apartments, there was equipment everywhere in the apartment, highly explosive materials and components were laid on a table being turned into mass C4 explosives, Improvised Explosive Devices and all manners of weapons of mass destruction even cases of VX nerve gas canisters from the black market were stored, they began planning for a assassination hit on a GEF high-ranked political and military official who was rumoured to be in the area, They were disguised in GEF and RLF uniforms from targets that were high ranking officers they had taken out prior to the call from a anonymous caller who wanted her down and to cause maximum chaos, misery and pain as possible.

One of the ponies who appeared to be the leader clad in blanked out ex-GEF armour strode into the group as they prepared for the attack while others were huddled around a map, this would be a organized hit with the after effect on a slightly lesser scale then the apocalypse itself or enough for several devastating strikes. While the group couldn't buy the equipment needed the anonymous caller left the cache waiting for them already fully stocked with the destructive equipment and the small stash of nerve gas. Two of the ponies who were prepping the explosives looked back to the leader nodding in acknowledgement before returning to their work, he approached a group of ex-GEF Marine ponies waiting for the signal they saluted and let him pass before he reached a small room where a black and red ex-RLF armoured pony stood by the window watching the festivities occur in the distance knowing full well the peace will be disturbed soon.

"Greetings Skywing, glad you could join us. Are you and the others ready to go?" the armoured pony asked stoically still staring out the window, the GEF signature was scratched off and replaced with engraved words "The Forgotten Army" on his shoulder guards just like the others. "Almost comrade, we are getting the "willing volunteers" and initiate the sleeper agent protocols equipped and ready to go, they'll be disguised as RLF troops and will spread throughout the sector while two will infiltrate the bar and kill the official while she's too busy partying, others will move into other parts of the city while the IEDs will be placed on military targets and will slow their responses long enough for the gas to do it's work. They'll believe that their allies have struck them hard in a surprise attack and retaliate against them old wounds dug up and old battle scars re-opened and new blood shall be spilled, We shall give them something to celebrate while they choke on their own blood and misery this day." Skywing reported solemnly knowing what they'll do will brand them as terrorists but they all knew it was for a greater cause which required them to act accordingly. "Good then be ready my friend, for today we begin the holy work before he even arrives to Equestria, we're ahead of schedule go to your men and ready the sleeper agents." The armoured pony replied satisfied by his ally's organisational methods in preparation of the attack as he nodded and walked out of the room to oversee the efforts.

"Soon they will know what true fear, pain and suffering is like while they celebrate their deaths while they may have slain one of ours in a raid in the Artic, they will drown in a pool their own loss...It has begun. This will be the first step to the End War." The armoured pony mused cynically as he slowly equipped his helmet activated his visor which hid his face and armed up before he strolled out with a squad of elite commandos, two of which carried a heavy explosive onto a truck they were all in RLF armour en route to the Citadel military HQ while the civilian and RLF-disguised sleeper agents strapped with explosive and VX devices on their bodies which began heading to their targets across Equinia unknowing to them they'd become literal walking bombs of devastation, the other members and Skywing of the Forgotten Army retreated into the shadows of the night with their missions completed they would await the signal to begin the attack.

>Chronarch (celestial quarter with Rainbow Dash)

"Sounds like a plan," he said as her followed in behind Dash. She was a more adept at the social scene than he was. Back before everything changed, he was outgoing enough to not be a shut in, but definitely not a regular pub customer so it just seemed appropriate.

Chronarch prodded at the plush material of the booth's cushioning. A million thoughts ran though his mind, but in the end he decided to say he was over-thinking it and let it slide. After all, he was here to escape work, not create it, but curiosity was just as much a part of him as his magic. He looked around the pub and caught a fleeting glance of one of the LEH's Knights. He'd have to ask Karrthus how they trained and created them the next time he saw the great hellkite.

He slid into the booth and sat directly across from the mare. He gave his seat a little precautionary bounce to see just how soft they were.He chuckled lowly and let a smile creep across his face. Realizing what he was doing, he cleared his throat tried to look as if everything was normal.

"Y-you know, I've never seen this place. How did you find it?"

>Haxorus (citadel courtyard)

The hawk circled around overhead before letting out a loud caw and landing on Doppleganger's back.On his leg was a small aluminum tube with a note on it which read.

Gen. Doppleganger,

I know that we have not met, perhaps we have, but I digress, that conversation is for later. The real purpose this letter serves is as an invitation and preamble to an apology. If you are up to it, I'd like to talk with you in my office, otherwise, best of luck to you.

Signed,

Guard Capt. Draxis

Augmentation Surgery, Delta Labs, Equestrian Aerospace Defense Command Facility (RLF Secret Bunker)

(Aprox. 1 month ago)

It has been an hour since the moncyte breeder was installed. The nanobots are now fully spread about his system repairing his body in every way possible. Even the scars from his old war wounds are starting to fade. This piece of experimental equipment is very expensive to construct and so far is the only one of its kind. It is a result of 10 years of research. Doctor Maximus was still hesitant to a field test but that changed obviously because of circumstances. The Colonel is laying unconcious upon an operating table. "The monocyte breeded is operating far better that our intial estimates. He may yet survive this..." The doctor readies his scapel as he voices his progress to the computer, recording it as he speaks. "Dr. Maximus Xyance. Entry 2. Day 1 of Spartan Augmentation. The patient, Colonel Striker's, body responded to the PHONIEX device far better and quicker than inital estimates projected. It has been aproximately 1 hour and 10 minutes since implantation and we are now ready to begin the offical first phase of the augmentation, the Carbide Ceramic Ossification. This involves grafting high-grade ceramic materials to a maximum of 97% of the paitents endoskeleton, granting extreme durability of the soldier's bone structure. In Colonel Striker's case we will be grafting, approximately, 92% of his skeleton so that he still can keep a suffiecent bloodcell reproduction rate that is only 20% less than a normal stallion's of his age. However, the monocyte breeder is estimated to counteract this change. As a last note, even though the paient is unconcious during the operation, the proceedure will still cause him a great amount of pain. This trial is the first of a great painful few that will make or break him. Beginning proceedure. End log..."

(Aprox. 3 hrs into Surgery)

Mid way through the proceedure, even though Striker is unconcious, he can still feel enormous amounts of pain from the grafting. His bones feel like they are literally breaking. Inside his mind, he is screaming in agony. The doctor is currently operating on his legs while at the same time adjusting the Colonel's spine and waist so that he may walk bipedally. Bipedal movement was concluded to be the most effiecent in combat. Even with this side proceedure he will be able to switch between bipedal and traditional movement at will. Within the Colonel's mind he has a dream. He is on the battlefield after his covoy got attacked by this strange new force. Some sort of energy blast flipped the humvee he was taking cover behind. The soldier couldn't escape in time and his lower body is cought under the truck slowly crushing him. He cries for a medic but no one can hear him... he pulls out his sidearm and begins firing upon his enemy. In his other hoof is a grenade... they won't take him alive nor without a helluva fight...
