Cutie Mark: Her cutie mark is a single snowflake encased in a diamond with a few scattered free snowflakes speckled around it. It represents her affinity for manipulating snow, as well as her sharp focus, diamond hard and resilient nature and love of fine gems.

As a filly, Crystal felt unsatisfied with her life in Cloudsdale. She was wholly convinced that she deserved more than her all too humble surroundings. The cloud city looked nice, but it was a working town, known for its weather industry and flight training programs. Everything seemed to her to revolve around your wings and how good you were at using them.

Despite her meager and ordinary upbringing, Crystal was a filly better suited to a place like Canterlot. She was obsessed with fashion and high culture. Beauty and grace were far more important to her than flight speed or strength. She was a mediocre flier without much enthusiasm for the act, preferring to leave her wings unruffled whenever she could. She felt out of place in the city, and as such awaited eagerly to achieve the mark that would point her toward her greater destiny.

Eventually it got to the point where the pressure was too much. She simply didn't belong, and so she decided to fly away from home. The young filly set her sights on Canterlot and tried her best to get to the city she was positive would hold her dreams. Along the way, the filly found herself lost in a winter snowstorm somewhere in the hills outside the city.

While at first she was terrified for her life, she stood her ground and tried her best to fight through the storm. Rather than foolishly charging through, she attempted some of the weather manipulation techniques she had been taught at school and by her mother, and to her surprise she actually had some success manipulating the snowfall to clear a path. She was half frozen and desperate, but in time the towers of Canterlot, glistening like crystal appeared through the storm. By the time she reached them, a mark had appeared on her flank, just before she fainted from cold and exhaustion.

History: Crystal was one of four children born in Cloudsdale to father Draft Hazard and mother Flurry Bluster. The former started his career as a trick flier with aspirations to join the wonderbolts but after an injury made his career penning adventure novels. The latter was a spunky weather mare in a long line of weather ponies with a specialty in snow. Both were boisterous ponies with a lust for life and a penchant for the bold and exciting.

They were also both rather poor, providing a fairly humble and originally life for their family. Draft's novels were usually well received but took too long to write and usually got buried under more popular reading options such as the Daring Do series. More often than not the family of six relied on Flurry's weather pony salary, which got them by but left little room for luxury.

Perhaps as a result, from a young age, Crystal coveted what she could not have. She started following high society gossip magazines about Canterlot culture. She adopted a very prim and proper attitude and forewent flight practice and anything she deemed to be beneath the proper lady she was convinced she was destined to become. Her parents brushed it off as simple rebellion until the child tried to run away.

Crystal's trip to Canterlot changed the young filly in more ways than simply achieving her cutie mark. It made her realize something fundamental about herself, even as she was forced to return back to Cloudsdale. If she wanted to have the things she coveted, she had to push herself forward. Staying still wasn't an option. Though at first she had mixed thoughts about what her cutie mark seemed to say about her fate, that like her mother she bore an affinity for making and working with snow, but soon she decided to use this as an opportunity. Just as she worked with the snow to reach Canterlot, she would again work with the snow to reach her greater dreams. She began to hone her craft, learning to make the most beautiful snow she could.

When she became a mare, Crystal looked for a job as a weather pony in Canterlot, but was at first hard pressed to find an opening. She was dejected, but didn't give up, instead deciding to look elsewhere first. This took her to Stalliongrad, where the climate meant that snow specializing weather ponies were almost always needed. She hated the town at first. It was a strange place to her, and one that had never been a part of her greater plan. She hoped simply to get the experience to eventually land a Canterlot job. Her plan was derailed big time, however, when she found herself hopelessly in love.

Northern Storm was a stallion unlike any she had ever met. He was a Stalliongrad native, and like her from a very humble background. Also like her there was a passion and desire in his eyes. He had a vision beyond that of a simple factory worker. He wasn't some prince or noble like she had always envisioned would be at her side, but he had the potential and she decided she would to everything she could to support his vision. His relentless strength won her heart and soon they were wed.

In time, his vision, Northern Storm Industries, what would become one of Stalliongrad's premiere machine tech companies, began to take off. From the most humble of beginnings, an empire started to grow and flourish under his command. Just as they were really making headway, the two had their first and only child, a daughter who was named Snowfall. The company and this foal would both start to grow quickly, and soon the young mother found no need to keep working her weather job, instead focusing her attention on being a mother and a wife. As their wealth grew, her attention began to change to social events and gatherings. She had the fame and status she had always wanted. She could not have been happier.

But things were not always cheerful. Snowfall grew to be a rebellious filly. Even as she was carefully preened to be her father's successor she fought against everything the two of them had worked so hard to achieve. Crystal only wanted the best life for her beloved child, but she was often met with scorn and a sense of disappointment over Snow's actions. Things would only get steadily worse as the child grew into marehood and increasingly rejected her mother's attempts to guide her toward a happy and secure life as well as her choices in stallions.

To complicate matters further, when Snowfall was age to attend university, Northern left Stalliongrad for a venture to the North. Contact would be lost and he would never return, leaving Crystal devastated. The emptiness has subsided some in recent years, filling in and leveling out with a certain bitterness. Knowing nothing of business, she put his company in the hooves of their young daughter, though retained a board position, mostly to keep a check on her so she would not make any "exceedingly foolish and headstrong decisions". She now lives a strangely solitary life from one social event to the next surrounded by pretty things and fancy clothes in her husband's empty manor.

Character Summary: Crystal is a very fussy, difficult mare. She has very exacting needs and expectations and will harshly and relentlessly criticize ponies for failing to meet them even slightly. She is very prim and proper and abhors sloppy or brutish behavior or uncleanliness. She is very much in love with wealth, status and all that comes with it and resents ever being reminded of the days before her and Northern achieved their vision. She also has a fixation on appearances and can at times come off as very shallow.

Crystal is stubborn, fastidious and very quick to speak out. She does not bend easily and resents those who do. She appreciates resolve and strength of character. Even if she disagrees with somepony she prefers vivid arguments over dealing with the weak and resigned. She seldom hesitates to voice even difficult opinions, though depending on the social circumstances might lace her contempt with "politeness". She is shrewd, discerning and never meek.

She can also be a bitter mare. She doesn't let go or forgive others easily. If somepony is to get on her wrong side, they will quickly come to regret it. She is not afraid to drag others through the mud when it is convenient to her. If you cross her or someone she cares about, she will let you know about it.

Crystal's relationship with her daughter is a complicated one. Crystal loves Snowfall a lot and truly wishes for the best for her. Snowfall has different ideas about what is best and a fondness for a freedom to make her own choices and thus sees her mother as a burden while Crystal sees her daughter as just having a wild hair needing to be plucked. They butt heads constantly, but in truth Crystal has a lot of pride in what her daughter has accomplished so far and trusts her with her husband's dream. She just wishes she could control who her daughter chose to associate with.

Following her husband's disappearance, Crystal has been left frequently reflective and lonely. Even after the years have passed, she still misses him, though she tries not to show it to others. If anything it manifests in increasing bitterness. unlike her daughter, who still holds some hope of finding him someday, she doesn't have much hope left. And while at time she might flirt with the younger stallions she tries to set her daughter up with, her firm and resolute nature prevents her from ever being completely at peace.

Crystal has a passion for following fashion lines and has considerable knowledge of them. She also loves jewelry and gems of all sorts, and has a sizable collection of jewels she displays at her manor as well as an understanding of them. She's a very social mare, and adores going to functions and entertaining guests, especially if she can flaunt a designer dress or some jewels. She dislikes disorderly behavior, and can become uncomfortable in closed off spaces with others. She constantly indulges in luxurious food and drink, but in truth prefers the taste of the simpler things she grew up on even if she would never admit such things.

I really can't say much about this app, other than it is a well detailed and well thought out app. I really see nothing wrong with it.

I'm going to send this up.
