Busking in Canterlot [OPEN]

Octavia walked slowly into Canterlot town square. It was a bustling corner filled with busy, sophisticated ponies. She observed them carefully, her attentive mulberry-coloured eyes searching for a spot to play at. Her cello wasn't too terribly heavy, but she had been carrying it on her back for quite a while now and it was beginning to ache. She gently set her case down on the street corner, making sure she stayed out of the way while many ponies passed her.

Octavia opened her cello case and gingerly plucked her cello out of it's case. She took her bow out next and left the case propped open. On a small piece of notebook paper Octavia wrote "College Money- Thank you!" and put it carefully inside her case. She rosined her bow delicately and then tuned her cello. Her A string was a bit sharp, but the other strings were fine.

Octavia began to play a gentle cello melody and hoped to attract a bit of attention. She made good money this way, and she sometimes got hired. Octavia confidently played and hoped that she would be noticed.

It had been a busy day for the local romantic counselor. He had finally closed up his office for the day (and by that, it was a case of he had run out of ponies to assist) and was taking a fairly leisurely stroll through Canterlot, heading to one of his usual haunts.

Which is when he was distracted by the faint noise of a lovely, lovely music, of a sort he rarely got to hear. His previous route forgotten, he headed towards the sound, with little else on his mind at that time beyond relaxing to the sound of it - if he could, of course.

White...to blue. Blue...to white.

Servante was changing clothes constantly, from her white shirt to a blue, black-striped one. But this wasn't because she was stuck in decision nor displeased without her clothing- she was literally changing it with one of her claimed "magic tricks" by pulling upon her outer jacket. She was absolutely bored, since one of the performing shows she was in was cancelled.

She had been sitting next to one of the outdoor tables for about an hour, observing ponies passing by. The seats were quite appealing and soft that you can sleep on it; Servante remembered how back in Fillydelphia, seating was not as fancy as the ones compared to Canterlot. But, Servante has gotten used to this "rich" life. (Although in reality, she wasn't really wealthy.) She looked at each pony, occupied in conversation, enjoying food and drinks, or shopping at street stores. The town square sure is busy today, Servante thought.

She stopped her continuous "clothing" trick as she heard a feeble, melodic tune. It didn't take long for her to hum to the tune, like she always did in every melody she found rhythmic and catchy in orchestras or musical performances. Music like this always attracted her; it was serene, calming, and fitting to the environment. She was not exactly a connoisseur of music, but she could determine, from the knowledge gained from her previous orchestra experiences, that the instrument played to the music was most certainly a cello. The frequency was not a high as a viola or a violin, and from there she could make such a conclusion.

Using the tune to follow the player of the sound, she walked slowly, the tune getting slightly louder and louder each second. Finally, she stopped, noticing a earth pony with a grey coat playing her cello. "Well...that was lovely," Servante commented, dropping a golden bit into the mare's jar.

"Thank you!"

Octavia replied, pausing for a moment and looking up from her cello. She truly was grateful for anyone who was willing to drop coins into her jar. She needed the money to buy groceries and other items for keeping herself sanitary. Even one bit could help her get by.

Fuchsia Blooms had closed her shop for an hour while she went out to run errands in Canterlot's town square. As she trotted along, she heard sweet music coming from up the street. She perked her ears and moved closer to the sound floating in the air. Canterlot didn't often have buskers, but when they did come, they were of high quality.

As Fuchsia approached the street corner, she saw that the music was coming from a cello being played expertly by a grey mare with a dark mane and serious eyes. The bow drew across the strings, and the vibrations resonated in the deep cavity of the instrument, creating a warm and vibrant melody that danced across the square, drawing ponies in. There were already a couple standing around, enjoying the performance.

Fuchsia stood next to a brown unicorn stallion, who appeared enraptured by the sound. She smiled at him, and turned back towards the cello player. When the tune ended, she took a step closer to the grey earth mare and complimented her on her skill.

Noticing the tip jar with a sign that read "college money" in front of it, she dropped two gold bits in. She also took a pink rose from the flower basket on her back, and dropped it in the cello case next to the tip jar. It added a touch of elegance, which many Canterlot citizens appreciated.

Figuring she had a little time to spare, Fuchsia stepped back next to the brown stallion and waited for the cellist to start playing again. She wanted to listen awhile longer before continuing on her errands.
