Bixbite [Ready]

GhostGirl

Recommended Posts

Roleplay Type: WoE

Name: Bixbite (goes by Bixy)

Sex: Female

Age: Young Mare

Species: Crystal Pony

Eye colour: Bixbite's eyes are the color of vesuvianite, that is, a slightly earthy green.

Coat: Her coat is her namesake, as it's the color of bixbite, more commonly known as red beryl.

Mane/Tail: Lastly, her mane and tail are turqouise. She likes to experiment with mane updos (since she has such a lengthy mane to work with, she has a lot of options) when she's working at her cart, and will generally play with more relaxed crystal pony manestyles when her cart is closed up. Her tail is tied back in a ribbon at all times, though.

Physique: Bixbite is around a head shorter than average height for a full-grown crystal pony mare, and while she's not exactly fat, she's a little bit on the pudgy side, due to her occupation more than anything.

Residence: Bixy maintains a small house in the Crystal Empire, but she travels Equestria with her food cart.

Occupation: Owner of Bixy's Bites, a food cart which travels Equestria and specializes in Crystal Pony Cuisine. Bixy's crystal berry tarts are becoming quite popular.

Cutie Mark: A turquoise and vesuvianite berry tart, earned after an excruciating week of experimenting with recipes and berries and ideas to construct the best possible entry for the Crystal Fair dessert competition.

History: Bixbite was born to a pair of highly talented crystal ponies. Her father was a pastry chef and her mother was a renowned sous chef, and together the pair ran one of the Crystal Empire's fine dining establishments. All three of Bixbite's older siblings (brothers, each one) worked in the restaurant at some point as waiters. The eldest stayed on while the other two pursued other interests. Bixy would watch in wonder as her parents and her brothers worked, and when she was finally old enough to help out, she jumped at the chance. They wouldn't let her wait tables yet, but she was her father's assistant.

She learned the ins and outs of baking and preparing the restaurant's desserts. It came to her naturally, so that her parents suspected she had inherited her father's talent. Except for working the ovens, she was soon making whole desserts by herself! What she really wanted, though, was the chance to invent a new dish, one her father had never made before, and that nopony in whole of the Crystal Empire had tried before.

That chance came in the form of a dessert contest during the Crystal Fair. She begged and begged her parents to let her enter and they finally relented a single week before the fair. Her parents secured her place in the competition and allowed her to run amok in their kitchen the entire week. She tried millions of combinations, but everything had been done before, or just wasn't right. It wasn't until late on the eve of the fair that she knew what she needed to do. She needed to go simple. She needed to go subtle. A little sweet and a little sour, on a creamy custard tart.

Soon she was in the yard of the house, picking the freshest and best turquoise and vesuvianite berries from their respective bushes. It helped that one of her brothers had found that his talent rested in berry farming. She ran back in and rinsed the berries off and started work on the tart crust. When that was done, in went the custard. Finally, in a simple pattern, she placed the sweet turquoise berries and the sour vesuvianite berries on top of the tart.

In the end, she ended up sleeping through the fair, but when her parents finally woke her the next morning she had earned her cutie mark. She made more of the tarts so that her parents could try them, and the tart was eventually added to the dessert menu of the restaurant. A few months later, she would successfully convince her parents to let her wait tables, and she showed an aptitude for that as well. Guests loved her, and she was sweet enough to make anyone smile.

Years later, when Bixy was full-grown, King Sombra attacked the Crystal Empire. Everypony was locked away for 1000 years. Upon their return, Bixy felt the need to strike out and learn more about the world as a whole. Her parents were more than happy to fund her the necessary start up and she soon left the Crystal Empire.

With a cart set up for food prep and determination that could move mountains, the Crystal Pony set out to introduce the world to Bixy's Bites, a food cart showcasing her favorite creations. That, and she'd been asleep for 1000 years. She really wanted to know what was new.

Character Summary: Bixbite is a pleasant mare. She loves to interact with other ponies and will be friendly to anypony upon first meeting them, at least if she's around her cart. It's her comfort zone, that little cart. She's a little less bubbly and a little less sure of herself when she sets hoof away from the makeshift dining area she's set up in front of the cart. She still tries to be social, of course, but it doesn't come quite as naturally for her in those cases. She's not fond of bugs, especially not parasprites, and tends to not let any animals terribly near her cart if she can help it (animals and foodstuffs don't really mix after all). This isn't to say, though, that she doesn't like animals. She's quite fond of them, really, and has often toyed with the idea of returning home for a crystal sheep or two to keep her company in her travels. After all, traveling Equestria with nothing but a cart can be lonely, and lonely isn't the best thing. Sometimes Bixy just wants someone to talk to when she's on the road.

Bixy travels with a certain profound sense of wonder and confident naivete. She stares in awe at everything as she passes through each new town, and her own safety doesn't even cross her mind as she travels between towns. Her reasoning is something along the lines of "I survived King Sombra's attack, what's the worst that could happen now?" As such, her biggest concern is to learn as much as she can about how far Equestria has come in the time she's been asleep. She makes it a point to learn as much as she can about every single one of her guests: what they do for work and what they do for fun. She's found a fondness for comic books, and the small living area of her cart is now lined with the print media.
