Assistance with Sprite recolouring.

So, I'm working with (that is, recolouring) sprites (Source) for a my big Media project of the year, an animation, and I'm beginning to realise just how long this is going to take, even with the paintbucket. I've figured out that I can just copy and paste the eyes, which are some of the most difficult and tedious parts, but I was wondering if anyone else knew any tips to help this go faster.

There is an easier way. In gimp, Paint.net and maybe photoshop you have an option that allows you to replace the exact colors with another

Wait, you mean replace all the colours in the file with another colour? At once?

Yes. Example

Replace this color: #FFFFFF

with this color: #AF3221

through the entire document

Any time. The main reason I know of this trick is because I did do some sprite comics in the past.
