Cutie Mark: Two white swords crossed beneath a black shield, this stands for his talents in hoof to hoof combat and weaponry, as well as his pride in his ancient heritage and commitment to protect those close to him, its the same as his family crest.

History: Crescent is an only child, both parents, Razor Eclipse, his father and , Nova Wind, his mother, are both living, and in Cloudsdale, but emotionally distant due to Crescents busy schedule, all three wish they could see each other more. The ponies in Crescent's family have always been fierce, skilled combatants, and he is no exception. The first time he laid eyes on his family's heirloom sword he knew he was destined to wield it, though it wouldnt be until he was older that he got that privilege, along with the earning of his cutie mark, during his first fully armed training session with the family blade. Crescent's family connects and bonds through sparing and fighting with each other. His Father had always told him,"You never truly know a pony until you've left a hoof-print on their face" Often times disagreements or disputes within the family would be settled through a friendly sparing match.

As a colt Crescent was never one for school. It wasn't that he was unintelligent or not a hard enough worker, he simply didn't see many of the things his teacher taught to be very important to what he wanted to do. Surprisingly enough his parents didn't mind what his grades were as long they were passing; math isn't exactly the most important thing to be proficient at in the middle of a fight. He managed to scrape by with rather low passing grades, dedicating the majority of his time before earning his cutie mark to combat training. His father was very regimented with his son's training, long hours after school of endurance training, building stamina and wing power that would come in very useful later in life

As for earning his cutie mark, the story goes like this. At a certain time in their training all the ponies in Crescents family get a chance to earn the right to be the wielder of the family blade, an ancient weapon passed down for generations. Crescent achieved this stepping stone as a middle aged Colt. The first time holding the family sword was like stepping into a perfectly tailored boot. The balance was perfect for him, the hilt, as though tailored to his grip. The blade felt right in his hooves. He thought of all of the generations of warriors who had held that blade, and how courageous and confident they must have been. He carried that thought into the sparing match with his father. Crescent had never defeated his father or any of the others stallions in his family in a duel before, this time would be different. Upon the start of the match Crescent thrust his wings strait back, remaining on the ground but propelling himself at a dizzying pace. He had never tried this before but instinct drove him. Still rocketing forward, he ducked his father's first strike and brought his own blade up to rest upon the bottom of Eclipse's neck, ending the match in mere seconds. Even though he was ecstatic about finally defeating his father, Crescent had realized something. Fighting may not be entirely who he was personally, but it was an important part of how his family bonded and integral to his heritage. His skill was part of an important tradition, one that would allow him to ensure safety for those he cared for. Upon this realization his cutie mark of twin swords crossed beneath a black shield appeared. To Crescent his mark is representative of his pride in his heritage as well as his confidence, skill, and creativity in combat, and lastly his unwavering loyalty to his loved ones.

Crescent's father, Eclipse, explained to him the downside of his cutie mark as all the stallions in his family had faced the same issue of having a special talent with few applications in the real world other than the military or guard. Crescent could already tell at his young age that he wouldnt enjoy being part of a regimented system as a guard or soldier, where he would be forced to take orders from somepony else, he needed to be his own stallion. A few months after earning his cutie mark Crescent's father took him to the Wonderbolt's derby as a birthday present. Upon experiencing the roar of the crowd and the spectacle that was racing and stunt flying, he knew what he wanted to do. As soon as they left the stadium Crescent excitedly asked his father if he could go to junior speedsters flight camp, and he, reluctantly, agreed.

While training at camp Crescent showed great dedication and determination to crafting his skill as a flier, gaining a high proficiency in speed and agility. While not the number one flier like he aspired to be, he was still in the top 12% of his class in overall skill, and knew he was good enough to achieve his goal of becoming a professional racer. He put more hard work into his flying than he did into his swordsmanship because the later simply came naturally, whereas his skills in flight were hard earned and he was always very proud of that.

For a long while Crescent was a top tier semi-pro racer in the in Cloudsdale circuit. Unfortunately this didnt exactly pay the bills so reluctantly he worked part-time as a color mixer at the Rainbow factory from early mornings to noon and spent the rest of his time at the track either bouncing for security (if he felt like it, they let him because of his unique set of skills), or racing on the semi-pro tracks. Because he was a single racer without a team he didnt qualify for all races, and so didnt race nearly everyday leaving time for his other his other monetary pursuits and practice. Crescent's dream of becoming a true pro was only a feather's breadth away as he ranked within the top fliers and won fairly often. The only thing that got in his way was his inability to acquire sponsors. His gruff edginess was a crowd pleaser in the semi-pro circuit but the higher class crowds of the pro league wouldnt have taken his attitude quite as well. Businesses realized this and didnt want to be misrepresented. In a very fortunate turn of events Crescent acquired pro status when a new friend of his happened to be the daughter of an incredibly rich unicorn, strait lace who decided to have his clothing company sponsor a team lead by Crescent Blaze himself!

These days crescent spends about half his time leading daily practices for his team and the other half looking after his adopted ward Cloud Sweep. He is at an easy time in his life and career and is kept busy with new challenges daily and wouldnt have it any other way. Weekends are when he typically finds free time as Cloud Sweep is at flight camp over the weekends and the team has afternoons and evenings off from practices on saturday and sunday.

Character Summary: Crescent is rough and tumble with those he doesnt like or know well, but if shown some kindness he opens up rather easily. Ponies that have only first met him might complain that he is blunt and too quick to jump to conclusions, though they usually admit his guesses were correct. His determination is unmatched and wants nothing more than to leave his mark of fame (or infamy...who knows what the future holds), on equestria in one way or another, to make sure that he will not be forgotten in history after he is gone. A very accomplished athlete he is often disgusted to discover that many ponies judge him to be an insensitive muscle brain, when in reality he is very in touch with, and further more in control of, his emotions and has developed an ability to assist other ponies with their more internal issues through his own self understanding. However they would be right to assume he is not the most book learned pony in equestria. Having a high capability for self-discipline allows him to stay balanced and content, easily adapting to new and adverse situations, essentially he's just very well adjusted. Though ponies shouldn't mistake him for a stick in the mud, due to an ability to think on his hooves he can assuage his spontaneity and playful side with daredevil antics, while still airing on the side of caution.....a little

Carrying the mentality that anything can be done with enough effort and having the right set of tools for success, Crescent has always been infallibly drawn to situations and challenges that most would label impossible causes, even more so when ponies actually claim it to be impossible in front of his face. He is well aware of this, since opting out of a daring situation is nearly as impossible for him as some of the stunts he has attempted, and many times, to the amazement of others, he has succeeded through either sheer willpower or obsessive insistence and repetition. This has lead to a certain level of pride and sense of doomed failure in that he gains an immeasurable level of happiness in proving himself capable enough to accomplish a task believed to be fantasy, but when he fails he cannot accept it easily, often trying over and over again until he has a break down. One task that still alludes him, and most likely forever will, is his longing desire to visit the moon under the power of his own wings. This dream derives considerably from his fear of being forgotten in the annals of history and he feels that if he were to do this he would live on, and be remembered for his great deed. This never quit attitude has been very beneficial in other aspect of his life. If not for this methodology he most likely never would have become one of Equestria's most skilled warriors, and flyers as his unstoppable drive forced him to better himself at a rate thought impossible by his trainers before hoof, and to a degree just as impressive.
