IceBear
Will somebody help me understand role play? I am so confused can somebody tell me in a casual sort of manner?
SymphonicFire
Role playing is like making a story on the spot. You will have your own character and you will role play as that character. In Canterlot chronicles and World if equestria, the tollway there is more advanced than the Free for all section. You also need to make character sheets so people know the description of your character

Corsair
SymphonicFire gave a good summary of what RP here means. Forum role-playing is like cooperative story writing. You create a character, with likes, dislikes, personality, anything that makes a good character. You and one or more others create a story for your character and theirs. It can be adventure, romance, or just slice-of-life stories, like you'd see in the FiM TV show. If you're interested in RPing, but haven't done it before, I'd recommend starting off in the Free-For-All section. FFA does not require you to write a character application, and anyone can post there. The other two RP sections, Canterlot Chronicles and World of Equestria, require character applications to show how good of a writer you are before you can join the RPs there. But, if you don't want to RP, that's perfectly fine too. Canterlot has plenty of non-RP sections to participate in. Its all about having fun
