Physique: Solar has a rather thin build, and is usually about as tall as the average pony. Residence: He likes to travel, but he mainly stays in Canterlot. Occupation: Explorer/Adventurer. Part-time student in magic. Cutie Mark: A sun in the midst of causing a solar flare (Hence his name.) Cutie Mark Story: Ever since he was young, Solar always had a fascination for light based magic, spending most of his days reading and studying it's origins, and how it works. One day, he tried a small experiment: Fixing a broken lightbulb by using light-based magic. It worked for the most part, but he was unable to keep it lit for long since he had to give it a continuous flow of his own energy. He gave up on the experiment. One day, he visited Ponyville and, being his usual curious and adventurous self, decided to explore the Everfree. A good ways in the forest, he heard a small whimpers followed by growling. He followed the sounds of distress, where he found two small twin foals surrounded by Timberwolves. His protective instinct kicking in, he ran out and stood in between the foals and the wooden creatures. Before he even realized it, he quickly emitted a large flash of light that seemed to illuminate the entire forest, and nearly blinded the Timberwolves. While they were distracted, he quickly snatched up the foals and ran as fast as he could out of the Everfree, returning the twins to their parents. Later on that night, he realized that light could be used for more than just providing illumination. That if need be, it could be just as useful in protecting those in need. Unique Traits: Solar uses magic in order to communicate by writing out words or images. When he was born, he was diagnosed with a birth defect that never allowed his vocal chords to fully develope, thus rendering him unable to speak without it causing pain or discomfort in his throat. He has fast reflexes and will often react quickly when in dire measures, especially when an innocent life is threatened. History: Solar spent the majority of his childhood in an orphanage in Ponyville, having absolutely no knowledge of who his parents were. He had always dreamed of venturing out into the world and seeing new things, and possibly finding out who he really was. Most of his days in the orphanage were spent holed up in his tiny room with his nose buried in fantasy and science fiction novels, and he was often bullied and ridiculed for his wiry build and quiet demeanor. When he felt that he was capable enough, he ran away from the poor orphan home. But instead of the life of adventure he lusted for, he only found one of poverty, literally living in a cardboard box in a dark ally way and doing small jobs in order to earn his next meal. Eventually, a nice mare allowed him to live with her on a small apple farm until he grew into adulthood. Afterwards, he was given enough money to move out of Ponyville and into Canterlot, where he currently lives. To this day, he continues to study light magic, and almost every day he finds new uses for it. Character Summary/Personality: He is very friendly, if a bit awkward and shy. You've got a few things to edit but I'm sure this character will be up for SRPH approval soon. Cutie Mark story: You need some more umph here. Like some details. It's not enough to just have him know what a solar flare is and get his mark. The mark needs to stand for your character on a deeper level than just what he saw while studying the sun. Perhaps it has to do with his personality, his goals in life, his ambitions??? Something to give him a little more depth than just knowing about the sun. Just a few ideas, but yeah more is more with cutie mark stories and history for CC apps. History; Could use a little more here too. What's he up to now? What type of magic is he interested in? Give a little more depth to this guy's character. I'm not sure 'mute' is the best word to describe this character. If he can speak but chooses not to most of the time that wouldn't be a mute. It would just be a pony that 'can speak but chooses not to'. Let me know when you've worked on these suggestions and we'll go from there! Keep on going and this character will be ready to play soon!
