Mane/Tail/Other: Fluttershy has a pastel pink mane and tail that are long in length, wavy in style, and end in curls.

 

Physique: This pegasus is of average height, weight, and build.

 

Residence: She lives in a cottage near the Everfree Forest just outside of Ponyville.

 

Occupation: Fluttershy is a caretaker of animals of all kinds - pets, wild creatures, etc. - especially those that need her help or can't take care of themselves. Occasionally she's a part-time singer for the Pony Tones singing group.

 

Cutie Mark: Fluttershy's cutie mark is that of a trio of butterflies with blue bodies and pastel pink wings. She earned it when she fell from Cloudsdale as a filly and a swarm of butterflies saved her but setting her gently on the ground. From there, she managed to calm the animals frightened from Rainbow Dash's sonic rainboom and came to learn that she had a way to communicate with animals better than most other ponies. Her cutie mark seems to be a symbol of her bond with them.

 

Unique Traits: She has the ability to intimidate animals into obeying her with something she calls 'the stare'. She only uses this as a last resort, however, and refrains from doing so when she can. Fluttershy is also afraid of heights, which is peculiar for a pegasus, and mostly keeps to the ground when she can. It's been said that Fluttershy has an exceptional singing voice when she can be coaxed to sing. She also has a great deal of tolerance and patience, perhaps due to her role as the Element of Kindness, as shown when she interacts with characters like Angel and Discord - characters that most others do their best to avoid.

 

History: Fluttershy used to live in Cloudsdale where she was teased by other foals, causing her to develop a lot of social anxiety. Being taller and lankier than most foals made her seem a bit awkward along with the fact that she was a pegasus that didn't enjoy flying. She became much happier when she fell from Cloudsdale and discovered Ponyville instead, along with her purpose in life as an animal caretaker. Her bond with animals didn't make her any less nervous around ponies, but she gradually learned to interact with ponies on almost the same level she interacted with animals thanks to the help of her Mane Six friends.

 

Gradually, the pale yellow pegasus came to become friends with the other Mane Six besides Rainbow Dash. Over time spent with them, she expressed a fear of many things including adult dragons and being the center of attention. Her friends helped her overcome her fears and taught her how her kindness towards others, ponies and other animals alike, is its own strength. It was so strong, in fact, that she alone was the one pony that Discord had to cheat in order to keep her from using her Element of Harmony. This later proved useful when Fluttershy became the one to get through to Discord with the magic of friendship when the Mane Six were asked by Princess Celestia to 'reform' the draconequus.

 

Among her many adventures, this animal-lover also learned that too much of anything - even kindness - can be bad, such as when she invited the Breezies to stay at her place even though they were on a tight schedule to get home. When she was too nice at the market, she often allowed other ponies to metaphorically walk all over her because she didn't know how to stand her ground and be firm without being rude or mean. During her time as a Power Pony, though she had trouble getting angry even when she herself was put in danger, she showed her compassion when a bug was bullied and unleashed her full rage upon Mane-iac. Discord even seemed to come to covet her as a friend because he didn't seem to be able to make any other friends as easily and didn't want Fluttershy to forget him in the process of making new friends.

 

With as much as she's learned and taught, she still has a great deal more to do on both parts, such as finding a balance between her extremes of being soft-spoken and too aggressive. She also still seems to have an easier time reading and understanding animals than her fellow ponies or other beings such as Discord, but she's working on it and slowly becoming more open to them every day. All in all, Fluttershy seems to be happy and content with her life, especially when she can listen to and assist with the hopes and dreams of her many friends, whoever and whatever they are.

 

Character Personality: Fluttershy seems to be afraid of almost everything, with Rainbow Dash even suggesting she's afraid of her own shadow. She has plenty of social anxiety, insecurities, and is a pushover when it comes to trying to get her way. While she may seem rather trusting and gullible, but she proves with her handling of Discord that she's more aware than one might expect. Humble as she is, she seems to have a lack of self-confidence and an inability to speak very loudly unless someone somehow manages to trigger her temper. When angry, though that state is rare for her, Fluttershy can be very firm, direct, and even aggressive to a certain extent - a very stark contrast against how she normally acts. When defending others, she will stand proud and not back down as she might when only speaking for herself. Her love, compassion, and kindness for her friends seems to give her strength to stand up against those others might flee from. Despite this, Fluttershy is the sort that would probably be more comfortable confronting a mysterious new species of spider than a flirtatious male pony.

 

Character Summary: This pegasus is soft-spoken, sweet, and caring, but also very anxious, insecure, and self-conscious. She doesn't usually like having the attention of other ponies unless they're close friends, but thoroughly enjoys spending time and communicating with animals.Though she seems like a pushover, gullible, and skittish on the outside, her big heart can make her more aware, steadfast, stubborn, and brave when protecting or avenging those she holds dear to her.
