I'm a lab tech (Research Specialist IV); always had an interest in science and biology. Used to collect fossils, but no good road cuts around here. Watch a LOT of science and science fiction. Have a mind like a tar pit - just about everything sticks, but little control over what comes to the fore of consciousness ... Been RPing for a decade or two. Reasonably good at art - can draw decently enough, but can't get the knack of these new-fangled computer pads. Found this board from a google search of "MLP RPG", figuring that a show this popular would have some RPGers somewhere. This appears to be a very active, well-maintained board. Took me a moment to figure out that the pony on the homepage was a Qilin. First encountered the show one Sunday afternoon. Flicking through the channels, and found the amusing absurdity of a magic-wielding unicorn claiming that minor precognition/danger sense was unbelievable. Decided to watch for other episodes to see if they're just as fun to watch. Oddly, Pinkie and the others greatly insulted Twilight, but no one seems to have caught it - a skeptic that values truth and honesty will change their mind when shown they are wrong (ie, when the burden of proof is met); the strawskeptic seems more common these days (this is a person who will say 'there are no such things as werewolves !!!' while one is gnawing on his leg ). Favorite pony would have to be Celestia : "when the best leader's work is done, the people say 'we did it ourselves'." - Lao Tzu, a rather insightful guy from a few centuries ago. Celestia has been able to keep Equestria relatively safe for over a 1000 years; some of our leaders can't even go 1000 hours without steering their country towards madness and despair.
