I made this picture using the pony generator on DA (is it okay if I use it?): http://imageshack.us...5/myponyjr.png/ I would like to add that he does have a cutie mark, I just couldn't find a pic to upload for one.

Cutie Mark: It's an old fossil and a shovel next to each other. He got it one day while exploring the mountain ranges around Canterlot, finding a very old cave. After exploring it and finding some ancient artifacts, he found that his special talent was archaeology.

Origin: Saw Bones was born and raised in Canterlot, among an upper middle class. His mother was a historian, who owned and operated her own book store (which was named "Ancient Mysteries"), and his father was a banker. While not the most interesting of ponies, his parents cared for him deeply and provided him with ample opportunities to seek out his own talent. Saw spent a lot of time in the dusty tomes which his mother had compiled, and he would visit his dad at the bank just to see what it was like. The numbers and mathematics of bank work piqued his interests somewhat, but history and reading about times of old was even more fitting. He would ask his mother questions about certain events and places, talking to her during her working hours.

Sometimes the family would venture out into the more mild areas of the mountains surrounding Canterlot for picnics, and even spend a day or two camping when Saw Bones had time away from school and his parents could take off from work. This is how he became familiar with Canterlot's surrounding area, which would prove to be quite useful later on in life. It could also be said that he learned the most basic of outdoor knowledge on these brief trips, though he and his parents, being city ponies, none of them knew much.

It was on one of these little excursions that Saw discovered his cutie mark. After trekking through the mountain almost all day, taking in beautiful sights and getting good exercise, he and his parents began to head home. The way was winding and a little more treacherous in the waning light, and a wind was beginning to pick up as well. Eventually he got separated from his parents after falling over a short cliff and losing sight of them. He called out, but his little cries weren't enough to overcome the now whistling wind. His parents noticed he had gone missing, and began to panic. His mother searching for him as his father fetched some help, meanwhile poor little Saw Bones had no idea what to do. Ultimately he decided to try and find his own way back, and began to wander the cliff which he had fallen onto. The wind dragged a chill into the air as he struggled to find shelter, searching all around him, until he found a small, secluded cave.

Saw ventured into the cave, hoping to at least find some way of signalling his parents, and stumbled upon markings etched onto a wall. He recognized some of them from ancient books that his mother had told him of, and he searched the cave even more thoroughly. He found pots depicting stories, and other etchings, and was overwhelmed with excitement with the discovery. After subduing his mirth Saw began collecting things he would need for a signal fire, such as some vines and a few twigs. He went outside, the wind having died down enough to start the fire.

After burning for a little while he finally saw a pegasus guard, and managed to get his attention. The guard took Bones back to his parents, who were out looking for him with a search party. They were overjoyed to see him, and after their initial happiness they noticed that he had his cutie mark, the aforementioned fossil and shovel. This made him even more excited, and he began to explain to them what he had found and where. It seemed he had, in fact, discovered a small ruin.

Over the years Saw Bones continued to foster his love of history and ancient things, exploring and examining ruins while relaying stories to his parents. They supported him and his work, helping him whenever they could. After He left their care he worked on founding his own museum, but met with disappointment. It can be pretty hard starting your own museum! Instead he opted to work at another ponies museum, getting a good and satisfying job. He studied even more, and traveled Equestria in an effort to advance his own knowledge.

He's still motivated to found his own museum someday, but for now he is content traveling and studying, becoming even more knowledgeable in the subject of history. He is respected among his piers for his hard work ethic, and has garnered a small reputation, at least in the vast city of Canterlot.

Very interesting! I love the story behind his cutie mark.

As for the name, it's not too too hard to think of one if you look into who they are.

For instance!

Look at the pony's occupation. A simple name could have something to do with what they do for a living, as it usually has something to do with their special talent. A few of the names I came up with were in this fashion. There's Sketch, my artist character, and his parents are Celer Troy and Cookie Crumbles. Celer, being the historical name of an ancient ruler's horse (Can't remember if it was a Roman Emperor or not, but I'm somewhat positive...), seemed to fit his background as a soldier, and Cookie Crumbles... well, obviously had something to do with cookies and sounded adorable for a baker.

That's just if you want to have a connection with their talent, though. In truth their name could be anything. Entirely up to you!

Looks good to me! To answer about the character image you created, of course you may include it if you like, just either link to the location using the image button or add to your post as attachment.

For Great Justice! :D
