[ Pony Related Character ]

Name: Wave Chaser

Gender: Female

Age: Foal (About 6 - 8)

Species: Seapony

Pelt Color: Medium green. Wave Chaser does not so much have a pelt as a tough, finely scaled hide, sensitive to touch but with enough protection to allow her to scoot about on land without rubbing herself raw. Texturally, she is similar to a snake, though warmer.

Mane/Tail Color & Style: White with pale blue streaks, bobbed and curling at the tips.

Eye Color: Purple

Cutie Mark: Setting aside the question of whether FiM Seaponies have cutie marks, she hasn't reached a point where she would earn it. If they do, when she does it will be a wave shaped a bit like a backwards C.

Physique: Average for her age and species, with a Seapony's plump look.

Residence: The waterways around Equestria.

Occupation: N/A

Motivation: Wave Chaser loves to explore and talk to old acquaintances and new friends; her eventual mark (if any) relates to her willingness to go below or above the waves to do so.

Likes: Beach balls, saltwater taffy (chewy!), mud(squishy like a seabed!), spring showers, exploring, watching and interacting with landbased ponies. She is especially intrigued by the concept of drinks, as it's something she's never had to do, and school, because she hasn't often seen so many foals in one place. So many potential playmates!

Dislikes: Thunder storms (she learned about the threat lightning strikes pose to swimming land ponies and is now convinced she's in the same danger), dry weather, metal (it weighs her down when swimming, and she lacks any protection from burns from hot metal), seaweed (it is NOT as delicious as her mother would have her believe), snow

Character Summary: Wave Chaser's family comes from a small Seapony colony in the Nimbusgait Lakes, but she's been all over Equestria because her parents, Moontide and Shorewatcher, act as surveyors for the waterways and tend to take Wave Chaser along with them. As such, she's seen a lot and met a lot of ponies and other creatures, but hasn't been able to settle around anywhere to make long-time friends. Because of this, she's been a bit lonely from infancy, and has been turning her energy to making forays into exploring herself; this has made her skilled at inching along on land, as she's willing to explore anything that might lead her to new places. (For reference, she can keep up with a walking pony long-term and trotting in short bursts, though a canter or gallop will leave her behind.) A stopover in Ponyville has started giving her ideas; the people here are friendly (once they fully understood what she was), there are lots of foals who might be her friends, and she's even looked into this 'school' thing that landbased ponies do - it looks like a lot more fun than being taught by just her parents! And so, hoping for stability (not that she fully understands that) and some lasting friendships (that she does understand), Wave Chaser is on the verge of begging her parents to let her stay in Ponyville, just for a little while.

If only she can find someone to look after her while she does...

Wave Chaser is good at scooting around, manipulating objects with her tail, and of course swimming - she loves it when land-based ponies join her in her domain, and wants them to have as much fun as she does in theirs! As an aquatic creature, she does need to return to water or be hosed down regularly; on a temperate, average-humidity day she can last about two hours. Cold winter days cut that in half and hosing will not help her unless she goes into a warm building, as she is not meant to regulate her body temperature above water and will get chilled easily. Very hot, dry days are the worst - she can't last more than half an hour without being wetted down in those circumstances. In a warm rainshower she can stay out indefinitely.
