Breve grinned as he got the coffee brewing for the day, the air sweet with the scent of fresh beans being ground, and the perfect matching scent of Vanilla Cinnamon Sticky Buns fresh out of the oven, resting on the countertops to cool. Once he was content with the set up of his shop he flipped the closed sign to open , and threw the shutters open to let the teasing aroma's waif through the air to tantalize and tempt passing patrons.

The soft apple green stallion checked himself in the mirror, moving a hoof up to smooth back his blonde mane to make sure it looked professional, blue eyes twinkling as he was always excited when he opened the shop up in the mornings, however today was the first time that he was selling the buns, usually he only sold various coffee drinks, but if his Pap could sell deep fried apple fritters with his coffee then dang it Breve could sell Vanilla Cinnamon Rolls!

"Let's hope I get some customers" He said glancing to the sun as if he were talking to the Princess herself "Thank ya Celestia fer this fine day t'day"

Terrain yawned as he walked to his shop, though was going early just to make sure all the plants were watered and properly fertilized. Humming to himself to try and wake up, he stopped in his tracks at the smell of something delicious in the air. He followed his nose, his hooves carrying him as he headed for the cafe. He opened his eyes and saw the cinnamon rolls, piping hot by the counter. He figured a good cup of coffee and a sweet treat would be the best thing to wake him up, and thought his plants could wait a little longer.

Breve spotted the pony that was passing by through his window and grinned "Why good morning there Stranger! Come on in and have a cup willya?" he asked and grinned looking foreward to his first customer of the day! And what an interesting Customer He was with those bright eyes and sharp trod to his steps, somepony was obviously a worker pony just like Breve, and if there was one thing Breve respected was a hard worker.

A tall and muscular stallion strode down the street of town, a wooden-wheeled cart in toe, laden with supplies of all sorts and rattling over the rough pavement of that particular route. Under the pelt the color of tanned leather, muscles rippled and quivered as the pack horse moved steadily, not too slow, but not fast enough to dislodge any of the agricultural supplies from the bed of the cart. He'd rose far before sunrise, and trekked out to the little town in order to the supplies his family would need for the coming months. Since his brother had left on some grand adventure, the menial task had fallen to Yoked and, through his own sense of fun and adventure, the well-built stallion had decided alter his route to and from with each passing. Such a habit allowed Yoked to see sights he'd not normally see if he traveled directly to and from home, but he could could only justify having a bit of fun while working, if, of course, the job was completed well.

Passing near the store-front of the cafe, Yoked caught an unusual scent on the morning breeze. He tracked it through the streets until he came to a open shop advertising something Yoked was entirely unfamiliar with. Curiosity getting the better of him, Yoked puled his cart to the side of the street, well out of the way of any path anypony might take, took a quick stock of the contents of the cart once more, and then strode into the shop, his rust-colored mane lightly being ruffled with the moment. As he entered the door, he silently looked about the near-empty shoppe, his sea-foam eyes darting to and fro, taking in information and pondering it quietly.

Grumbling and flexing his unbandaged wing, the dappled grey stallion Barnstormer trotted along the streets. He'd rather be flying, but doctors told him to lay off his wing for a few days. In fact, they told him to be lucky it was just a few days. If it weren't for the braces he wore on his wings, it could have been broken and taken a few months to heal. Still, it left the pegasus in a sour mood.

Talking to himself, he muses. "A few days... ugh... still, at least that show went well. I've enough to get by for the time being. Still... Celestia's sake, its hard being cooped up on the ground." As if in agreement to his mood, his stomach lets out an audible rumble. Looking around, the pegasus spots the little coffee shop and trots over. Walking in, he looks about at the small group on ponies inside. "Hey, any chance a pony could get himself some Coffee and some doughnuts?"

Breve was slightly shocked by the sudden fact that three customers showed up at once, it was sorta flustering since he wa a touch new to actually owning a place instead of just working at one like he had previously, but after a second he coughed clearing his throat and nodded "Sure I can get you a cup of my best coffee but I'm afraid I don't sell doughnuts! I sell vanilla cinnamon buns though?"

The customers were contradictory , one seemed curious but friendly, while the one wanting food was sorta grumpy, he supposed he would be too if his wings were in a sling..though he was a earth pony so he wouldn't quite know how that felt "They are very good sir"

Glancing at the rather big pony that had just entered he gave him a kind smile "Greetings sir! May I get you anything?" He seemed to be looking the place over, he certainly hoped that he was there to get some coffee and to sit a spell.

Vinyl Scratch loved her free time - it didn't come often, and she wasn't always able to make the best of it but there were days that she could simply get out of her l'il apartment and get into Canterlots hubbub, mingling with the regular crowds to just enjoy herself. For the most part, she enjoyed having a little moment to blow off steam and relax before a nights long and energetic show...and thankfully, she wasn't scheduled until tomorrow for a little something taking place - leaving her a nice period of time in which to just mellow out on her own and recharge her mental batteries.

In a fetching pair of flame red shades, the DJ Mare was spending some time up around a solstice heights shopping district - it wasn't too far from where she lived anyway, considering that the music business seemed to pretty much be smiling on her as a whole.

Sure, she wasn't exactly rolling in vast quantities of bits, but she sure wasn't living uncomfortably either.

There was a cosy little coffee shop just up ahead, a little ways away from where she was walking from, and Vinyl suddenly found herself with an overwhelming hankering for something nice and sweet - it was one of those days where a nice hot mocha latte sounded so much more appealing than it normally did at this time of day.

Trotting over towards the shop, she illuminates the door with her light purple magic and pushes her way inside, glancing around for a moment at the interior to assert just what kind of establishment it was...she didn't often just drop into a place like this unnanounced, and sometimes it meant the ponies running the store would suddenly try and keep her attention and custom, or customers would try to get her to sign things. It didn't really bug her, but it did sometimes cramp on her ability to just relax at a small unknown store and just live her life as a normal everyday pony without the trappings of fame, even if it was for just a short while.

Seeing that there was already a rather large pony waiting to be served, she hangs back and waits in line...

The smells of the coffee already drifting to her and making her think of just what kind of deliciously tempting treat she should have all to herself...

Yoked, blinking once, turned his head to look at the stallion whose color reminded Yoked of baby sprouts, just having escaped the surface of the earth. His head dipped slowly, responding to the greeting before he paused for a moment, thinking. He was in the city now, and, according to his younger and smarter brother, the city had a different sort manners. With some difficulty, he remembered a word Gearly had used to greet someponies several times; Yoked began his effort to repeat the word, "Sau-...Sally-....Sal-yew-stay-...." His deep voice rumbled out from his throat, hardly loud but easily carrying across the room. Finally giving up on the word, Yoked chuckled lightly, and decided instead to greet the greeter in his usual fashion. "Howdy... Wha'da ya got?" The words were understandable enough, though crude and not very well pronounced or chosen.

Yoked's ears twitched as he heard the door to the small shoppe open behind his large frame. Leaning to one side and twisting his neck back, he looked to see a mare enter the storefront. Her appearance was quite pretty and something else than he was used to seeing: a snow white pelt, a mane that reminded Yoked of lightning streaking across the sky, and a set of glasses that simply puzzled his mind. Stepping to one side and giving a quarter-turn towards the mare, Yoked bowed his head once, and apologized for standing in the entrance way, "Pardun, miss. Aftah ya..." Once again, he spoke simply and nodded his head toward the counter of the shop, smiling politely to the strange mare.

Barnstormer plopped down near the counter, waving his good wing rather dismissively at the earth pony. "Yea, yea... Cinnamon buns will do. Thanks." Reaching into his travel pack, he pulls out some bits and drops them onto the counter. Turning at the sound of the larger earth pony, Barnstormer's jaw drops.

"You... you... Your Vinyl Scratch! Sweet Celestia... I have all your albums to date! Oh wow, who'd ever thought I'd ever meet ya in the flesh!" Instantly, the pegasus's mood lightens. "Oh to have a pencil and a notepad... Wait, I think... maybe..." Turning back into his pack, Barnstormer buries his face into the bag as he ruthlessly searches for something to use to get the DJ Pony's autograph.

He nodded moving to get him a cinnamon bun before tensing and frowning "No" He stomped his hoof down "You are to leave the lady alone and let her get her order WITHOUT harassing her" He said sternly, not going to have someone bothered in HIS establishment "Now you kindly let the lady get her drink or I must ask you to exit my store at once" He frowned shaking his head " I do not allow customers harassing other ponies, famous or not"

Vinyl couldn't help but find herself amused by the following moments of her entering the store...

She smiled to the polite pony who had allowed her to step ahead - she had been brought up by classical parents, and her manners were always on call if she wasn't around the fans or in a show...life was too short to simply treat everyone as if they knew who she was. " Thanks, have a good day, eh? "

A polite close to their brief encounter was all she needed to do, before she moved onwards...

"You... you... Your Vinyl Scratch!"

Vinyl paused, the familiar call of a fan causing her to perk up her ears as she looked over at the fan, even now scrambling to get a better look.

Perhaps this l'il shop wasn't going to be devoid of anything interesting afterall!

" Sweet Celestia... I have all your albums to date! Oh wow, who'd ever thought I'd ever meet ya in the flesh!"

No matter how many times the mare heard that same phrase, or it's many variations, she couldn't help herself from smiling - yeah, her music was certainly reaching more ponies than she could have ever hoped for when she'd been starting out...and she was just about to give the pony a l'il piece of thanks, when the store owner looked at the other pony, stomping his hoof loudly and trying to stop the poor kid from getting too out of control.

Had this been any other celebrity, she would obviously have seen this as a good thing...however, vinyl also knew when a fan simply wanted a chance to talk.

" S'okay, shopkeep...you can chill! " She says with a small smirk on her features. " He ain't botherin' yet - kid just wants a quick auto' and a chat. "

She didn't want to appear like one of those stuffy private celebrity ponies...she hated that, and did everything she could to be an approachable mare for all!

With a surprised yelp as the earth pony raises his voice at him, Barnstormer upturns his sack. Out drops the pencil and notepad; as well as his flight helmet, goggles, spare wing guards and a few fliers from his last show. Looking sheepishly, he puts a hoof behind his head. "Eh heh... um... sorry 'bout that sir. I'll try ta contain my excitement better." Leaning over, he picks up the pad and pencil, placing it on the counter.

With an awkward cough, the pegasus sit back down at the counter. "Um... if your still willin' Miss Scratch... The names Barnstormer. Dreadful sorry if it's an inconvenience for ya. I'll understand if you'll be wantin' to go back to ya coffee."

Yoked blinked, watching from his spot off-center from the door. The stallion had not moved since he let the mare past, watching the events unfold within the coffee shop. An eyebrow was raised at the pegasus with a wing secured in a cast, unsure why the Stallion was reacting in such a way to the lightning-maned mare. His head tilted slightly to the side as he thought about the situation: She didn't look like any pony famous he knew.... But he didn't really know any pony famous. With a shrug of his shoulders, Yoked sat down at one of the tables, taking a rest for his weary journey back to the homestead of his family.

Breve seemed hardly calmed by her words but just kept a watchful eye on the Pegasus, using the time that Vinyl was autographing things to go bring the other customer a hot cup of coffee and a cinnamon bun "Here you are sir" He said giving him his best smile. The other was obviously a work horse and a hard worker, Breve could understand those types since he himself was a hard worker.

"If you need anything else just let me know" He said nodding politely as he headed back to the counter getting the other pony that was being a slight pest in his opinion ... a cinnamon bun and a cup of hot coffee "Here is your order sir please enjoy" Not looking at his contents on the floor since it was rude to snoop in other pony's affairs.

Yoked glanced down at the food and drink placed on the in front of him. He was entirely unsure of what to make of the substances before him as he leaned down slowly, taking an experimental sniff at each substance. Neither the drink or the snack were quite like anything he'd ever seen before; having grown up on a fairly poor farm, he was unused to comforts that "normal" city ponies might enjoy on a daily basis. He glanced back up, nodding his thanks silently to Breve, planning on letting the objects cool somewhat before trying the coffee and bun.

  • 3 months later...

Once she was done with the signing of articles, Vinyl decided that now was a good time to simply start deciding on her order, casting a kind smile to those who might be addressing her as she stood quietly in the line, floating over a menu from a table for her ponderance of choices...there was a nice selection available of Pastries, biscuits, muffins alongside all of the expectedly delightfully crazy coffee types that ran to expectations in such a place as this.

Vinyl quietly hmm's, taking her time to think about what her choices afforded her - she wasn't in the mood for something hot, given that the day already was kinda bright and sunny, which meant that she probably may think about going for something a little cooler when it came to be time to order.

It didn't seem to be too much of an expectation to be able to order a frappe here, and seeing as iced coffee was on the list, she couldn't help cracking a small smile as she plopped the menu back on the table it had come from, feeling a little more prepared to give her order once the line had shortened enough for her to be next to make her selection...yes, she was just about ready to slide into a nice corner of the cafe and just unwind with a delicious home-special frappe and a cinnamon muffin!

Sounded pretty much like a perfect plan to her at least!
