Exploring the Ruins... (open)

"I see a chest ahead!" said Dunes, pointing to, yes, it was a very cliche treasurechest!

But as they neared sticks, not spread but ordinary blunt sticks started popping in and out of the walls

"oh gawd I hate these timed run traps..." he sighed, watching the patterns

Tehengu watched the patterns as well, frowning a bit as he realized the sticks weren't even sharpened. Seriously, this was a lot of traps for someone who apparently just wanted to play games with whoever came along. Shaking his head slightly, he went back to watching the pattern.

Dunes watched the sticks carefully and charged forward, but he mistimed one... and he tripped... being pinbaleld around by the poles but landing ont he far side, shaken up and a little sore but not hurt

"Now, lets see what we have!" he said, cracking his hooves as he carefulyl examined the chest from all angles for booby traps, then carefully lifting the lid... Midnight blue light flowed out as he opened it, but his jaw just fell as he stared in shock, his eyes almost glazing over "...I think you'll want to see this..." he said, completely dumbstruck... "Your never going to believe it..."

inside the chest was a note on ancient paper, it read "Congradulatons big sistr! U fond the Priz! -Luv Luna" and next to it was a small bag of candy

Tehengu frowned, making his way through the trap with more patience than Dunes had displayed, getting hit by the last part and letting out a grunt.

"Candy? Was this written by a foal?" He asked, looking from the bag to the note.

Dunes looekd at tango like he had sprouted a second head "read hte note! Obviously it was, this is the castle where the Princesses grew up, even in the everfree their magic was so powerful that to this day it preserved this chest and the traps leading to it..." he sighed "Well, we found the treasure, I'm not much for sweets, you can have it" he smirked a very smart-flank smirk. "Or are you planning to make sure it's returned to the proper owner?" he added, almost laughing

"It's called a rhetorical question." He replied flatly, looking over at Dunes. Of course he could tell it was written by a foal, apparently Luna, he had simply been surprised. He took the bag of sweets anyways, not saying anything and simply looking for where to go next. He could probably just give it to Scootaloo, she'd probably enjoy it.

Dunes though was still snickering, thinking about his suggestion of returning the 'treasure' to those it belonged to, imagining soem very amusing reactions from either luna OR celestia whent hey saw it... but he did seem to calm back down "well, this trip was a bust for both of us it seems, though you did at least find *something* he smiled "ready to go back and call it a day?"

"You are aware that there is more to this castle than this, right?" Tehengu said, looking at him strangely at his suggestion of heading home. "I mean, look at it, there has to be more than this."

Dunes frowned "your too smart for your own good" he said "very well, lets look around for anotehr entrance, hopefully we wont find any more of the Sisters' playthings" he said as he began makign his way back down the magically cleared path now

"Anybody could tell there was more to this castle than one hallway." Tehengu responded, frowning as well as he headed down the path too. He wasn't going to leave till he found the book, he wasn't sure why Dunes had even suggested it. Didn't that stallion want to find something besides some candy and a stupid note?

Dunes frowned "I was trying to avoid trouble, bit it looks like destiny ha already sealed our fate..." he said, looking tango over with the eyes of a predator now, clearly more than expecting this to become a battle to the death, since he didn't trust ponies to begin with and tango was avoiding his question, he knew the griffen was bad news, he only hoped that he faced a lakey instead of a master... whatever sinister spellbook lay in these ruins, if tango found it first, dunes was preparing for the worst...

Tehengu rolled his eye a bit at those words, continuing on in silence, though he made sure to keep Dunes in his sight. He could feel the tension, and he was ready for it. Did this stallion still think he was evil? He supposed he couldn't blame him, the griffon hadn't given any reason to trust yet, but that seemed a bit far to take the assumption.

((he really doesnt see his dodging all question of the book he's after as suspicious? O_o ))

"Going in the front gate is pointless, no doubt everything connecting to it's already been searched time and time again by archeologists, looters, and perhaps Princess Sparkle as well..." he said as they walked up the steps into the garden again "lets try to find the otehr stairs, the path seems to have magically changed itself, perhaps it leads somewhere else now that the traps were dissabled" he said, walking towards the main castle again

(He feels he's not avoiding the question. He's already answered it as best he can, he feels.)

"Sounds like a plan. Let's go." He said, walking with the stallion as they looked for another way through.

indeed as they entered the door again, this time it lead to a hallway with doors on either side, Dunes considered, wondering if it was boobytrapped like the last one... he went outside and got a rock and kicked it into the hallway and watched as it landed, though after a moment the rock was somehow floated to a dustbin... even after thia many years the 'cleaning' enchantments were working, they sure dont make them like that anymore!

The first door he opened no doubt made his mouth water, it was a huge backery -right in the castle!- filled with beautiful cakes... but he woudl no doubt notice the thick coating of dust on everything... and the cakes were all either rock hard, or crumbled to dust if he so much as breethed on them too hard... quite possibly an early appearance of celestia's rumored 'cake problem' showing up here...

"While amusing, I'm not sure fossilized cakes are very valuable" he smirked, though in his mind he coudln't help envisioning 'returning' some of these to the solar princess and the look on ehr face as she tried to take a huge bite from one and chipped more than a few teeth...

Cakes... Very old cakes... After the first one collapsed from his touch he left the room, going to the next door and opening that one.

"Of course not. You wanna try to bring one back to Celestia? I'm sure they used to be hers." He said, glancing over at the stallion.

"As much as I'm sure we can both imagine the level of amusement it would bring..." said dunes "...I don't think it is worth the effort, nor risk the possible punishment, however it might be worth our time to take some photos of the area" he suggested, pulling out a camera and tripod... he wasn't fond of blackmail but he liked having the option in case things ever turned south...

"Well that is certainly an option." Tehengu said, looking around the room he found himself in now. It seemed to just be a storage room, nothing too exciting in it though. He sighed to himself as he continued to search for the library.
