  1. Roleplay Type: Mane Name: Catnip Sex: Female Age: Mare Species: Earth Pony Eye Color: Yellow (#edeb03) Coat Color: Green (#23a940) Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: Long, messy mane and tail, light yellow (#fff99f). Physique: Taller than the average mare, and thinner, but strong enough to wrangle unruly animals when necessary Cutie Mark: a pawprint with a sprig of catnip Origin/Residence: Fillydelphia Occupation: Owner and Proprieter of The Cat's Pajamas. Motivation: To spread the joy of owning a pet Likes: Animals (obviously) Classical music, contrary to her personality The great outdoors Falling asleep surrounding by a litter of kittens or puppies with their soft, warm fur Dislikes: Loud noises Sudden movements Flashy lights (all of the above are FAR too distracting) Smelly perfumes Character Summary: Born the younger twin daughter of a Unicorn stallion, Pimpernel, and an Earth Pony mare, Toadstool, Catnip grew up alongside her sister Carob in northern Fillydelphia. Growing up with a Unicorn who excelled at everything she tried was disheartening for Catnip, yet it also pushed her to try her best. It took her longer to find her special talent than it did her sister, who took after her parents and became an herbalist and a cook. Despite this, Catnip was always the cheerier of the girls, and was far more boisterous, if a little easily distracted. As a foal, Catnip loved to walk through Fillydelphia, visiting the parks and occasionally stopping by a sweet shop for a snack on the way home. One day she ran into a small Mastiff pup, and the puppy took to her like a duck to water. Not sure how her parents would react, Catnip reluctantly tried to shoo him away, but he wouldn't leave off her. She ended up playing with him at the next park she encountered, throwing a stick for him and running around with him, ecstatic to let out so much energy. When she got home at the end of the day, she was surprised to find that her parents were more than happy to allow her to keep him, and they helped her set up a bed for him, which he promptly ignored and opted to curl up on Catnip's bed with her instead. The two, exhausted from the day's activities, slept comfortably, and when Catnip awoke she found a brand new shiny cutie mark on her flank. It wasn't long before Catnip named the mastiff pup Pajamas (often shortened to PJ or Peej), purely for lack of being able to think of a better name. Now grown, Catnip and Peej live in a flat above Catnip's pet shop, The Cat's Pajamas, in central Fillydelphia. Catnip owns an expanse of yard behind the shop. This is where the pets for sale actually live. Nobody likes being cooped up in a cage after all. There's shelter from the weather and room to run around, and that's enough for the animals that Catnip sells. Every evening, after the shop closes down, Catnip and Peej take their regular walk around Fillydelphia, visiting the parks and stopping by a sweet shop to buy a snack for the trek back home. She keeps moderate ties with her parents and her sister. The three aren't to keen on having Peej around their cooking after having lived with the mastiff for so many years, but they enjoy having Nipsy come visit. Carob, though she won't keep an animal of her own, makes treats to sell in The Cat's Pajamas from time to time. Catnip and Peej enjoy the busier times of day, when they get to interact with more visitors and introduce more ponies to the pets. Every few months for three or few days, though, they shut down the shop to go out to the plays that the Traveling Players put on when they come through Fillydelphia (her favorites are the plays by Flankspeare). They may also take a few days afterward to bring in new animals, should they see the need, or relax if things have been particularly hectic. The pair spend a great deal of time in the back during the workday, playing with the various animals for sale, and once work has ended, during their walk around Fillydelphia, they stop at a variety of shops and houses to say hello and brighten a few days with big slobbery Peej kisses. Catnip also spends a little time in the kitchen, listening to classical music and cooking up snacks for the animals. She may not be as good at it as her sister, but the animals don't seem to care too much, and she loves making them happy. Aside from the above, Catnip is particularly down-to-earth. She may be distracted quite easily, but despite this (or perhaps because of it) she works best under pressure. Even in the most dire of circumstances, she keeps a cool, calculating head, thinking before she acts. Inside she may rage, and Peej is the only one to hear her ragings, but to anypony else she's solid as a rock.
  2. I dunno this is the specific reference or not, but Carrot's had makes me think of Jayne Cobb, the Hero of Canton. So yeah. XD
  3. EE! Jayne hat~! I am so compelled to watch the Canton episode now. DARNIT. The DVD's at my boyfriend's friend's apartment 'cuz he's tryna make his wife watch 'em! DX
  4. I'm working on it, but I seriously have no bloody idea what to do about her cutie mark story.
  5. After a moment, Stormy seemed to catch a second wind. With a renewed determination to wander around some more, if only to find that delicious-smelling bread, up she was, following her nose. She took several steps before the smell overtook her, and she closed her eyes, her nose in the air, as she continued to walk towards it. It wasn't long, though, before she stopped short, not because she'd found the source of the scent, but because she'd run into somepony as she rounded a corner. "Oh! Oh, I'm terribly sorry. I hadn't seen you there!" She pulled herself up and brushed herself off as she spoke, a wisp of cloud still caught in her mane. "Are you alright?"
  6. @Haserman Yeah, I'd been looking at that and have only just barely finally decided which districts to specifically mention in this app. @Shadowmage Too bad! I like Murrine Quartz better. Thanks for jumping in while I was making her, though! And I'd have that picture of her up, only I'm redoing her cutie mark. XD
  7. Name: Murrine Quartz Sex: Female Age: Young Mare Species: Unicorn Coat Color: A light, slightly grayish blue (hex code to be added later) Mane/Tail/Markings Color & Style: Her mane and tail are a glassy sea green color (hex code to be added later), both styled in a sort of a curly-q reminiscent of blown glass, with her mane in a pony tail. Eye Color: Rusty red Cutie Mark: A stained glass window depicting a sun on a field of colors Physique: Slim, lithe, and slightly taller than your average mare. Origin: Stalliongrad Roleplay Type: Mane Occupation: Glass Artist, specializing in stained glass and glass blowing. Motivation: To create works of art that everyone can enjoy. Likes: Colors Classical Music Hot tea (especially on a cool day) The bustle of Ostrov, the island district The calm of her workshop The sound of the clip-clop of hooves signalling a visitor to her quaint store Dislikes: Coffee Intense heat The gray drizzle of a rainy day Simple hellos Long goodbyes Character Summary: Born to a unicorn couple residing in Kuznitza, the Forge District of Stalliongrad, Murrine was around crafters and creators from birth. Her father, Stalwart Steel, was a metalworker, and particularly reveled in developing parts for airships and all sorts of steam-powered machines and vehicles. Her mother, Pastel Palette, would commute to Chenya, the learning district, every day to teach a painting course to those with the appropriate interest and/or talent. The two were ecstatic when Murrine showed an interest in the arts (her father felt strongly that metalworking was an art, even if it wasn't always regarded as such), and they did everything they could to help her develop her skills and preferences for style and medium. Painting and 2d arts such as that were all passed over quickly, and Murrine found herself enjoying sculptures in metal, though she wanted to use more color. In fact, it wasn't until a visit to Canterlot that Murrine discovered what art in particular she found herself drawn to. As she walked the halls of the castle with her tour group, her eye was caught by stained glass in another hall off to one side. Without particularly realizing it, she became separated from the group and went to look at the stained glass windows. She was transfixed by the colors and the way they glittered and changed according to the light of the sun coming in. When her parents found her half an hour later, she was still turning in circles in the middle of the hall, looking at the various windows and the images they made on the floor, her eyes wide in wonder. Once they returned home, Murrine and her family began collecting as many pieces of colored glass as they could. It took a while, but Murrine sketched out exactly what she wanted to create: a stained glass window depicting a sun over a wide field. Once that was taken care of, the family narrowed their search down to pieces of blue, yellow, and green glass of various shapes and sizes. Over time, Murrine fit the pieces together as well as she could, leaving space for the lead cames. Once her picture was complete, she started on the biggest, most advanced spell she'd ever attempted, and fit all the pieces into the cames securely, weatherproofing the window at the same time. She was so excited to show her parents her creation that she didn't notice her cutie mark until her mother pointed it out to her. It was a stained glass window, the very same as she had just finished. From that point on, Stalwart Steel and Pastel Palette had Murrine enrolled in every glass art related class they could find. As she learned and tried new things she found that she preferred stained glass above all other forms of art, until, that is, a glass blower came to town to see if he could sell a few wares. She became entranced by the shapes and the colors and the beauty and the vibrancy, and she begged him to teach her his art. He didn't have the necessary supplies with him, but he promised to come back when he was done with his travels in just two months' time and bring his supplies with him to teach her. So, Murrine bid the good Mr. Zanfirico Cane farewell, and began eagerly awaiting his return. Two months came and went, and, just as promised, along came Zanfirico Cane, hauling his cart behind him. He bore many less wares than the last time he'd visited, and his supplies were carefully strapped in behind him. There wasn't much needed for a Unicorn talented in glass art, so it was really just the various glass and supplies needed for coloring the glass, plus bins to catch the melted glass if necessary. The lessons took time, but as they passed, Murrine discovered that she had at least as much talent and love for glass blowing as she did for stained glass. When her lessons were finished, Zanfirico gifted Murrine the rest of the glass and coloring supplies he had brought with him, along with a couple of the bins, and he went on his way once more. When Murrine was old enough, her parents bought her a little shop in Rasya that had a flat above it and a decent sized area behind it. Her father built her a small workshop behind the shop while she and her mother moved the young mare in, and it was only a matter of weeks before the shelves of her little shop were stocked with her glass wares. Diningware, statues, vases, small stained glass windows, and wind chimes could be found all over the shop, and they sold... decently. With Murrine out of their home, Stalwart and Pastel had more time to focus on their own arts as well, and soon their wares, small metal statues and paintings of all shapes, sizes, and subjects, were available for sale in the little shop. Murrine still doesn't make too much money, but she makes enough to cover the necessities and live comfortably, and that's enough for her.
  8. NaNoWriMo will devour my soul!

  9. Ugh, terribly sorry folks, when I signed up and took on Stormy (though she's about the backgroundiest background pony you can get) I had forgotten that NaNoWriMo was right around the corner. Sadly, this means that any RPs that occur with me will be as slow and minimal as they come for the month, if they occur at all. I want to be a novelist. NaNoWriMo is currently a necessity for me. If I can train myself to crank out 50,000 words in 30 days and have it be writing on par with the rest of my work, I can train myself to crank out a proper novel in a year's time and have it be writing on par with the rest of my work. Sorry, folks. Do with Stormy what you will. I have to jump out for now, and I'll try try try my hardest to do SOMETHING on the site. I'll still be in the IRC but only to be distracted enough that I don't miss dinner like I did last night. -- Ghostie
  10. Stormy stepped back and raised one front leg, tilting her head to the side as she did. Confused, she asked, "Dragon? Whe- OH!" At this she laughed. "Right. I'm the dragon. No. I'm not really a dragon." She tilted her head to the other side and smiled calmly. "No, I'm a regular ol' pegasus just like you. But I'm dressed as a dragon for Nightmare Night. I'm sorry I scared you." It was then that she noticed Tempest approaching. "Oh, thank you, glad to be of service," she said in response, smiling at the compliment. She took note of the pony's name and turned back to Starburst, wary of approaching lest she frighten the poor pegasus again.
  11. Stormy had arrived late to the Nightmare Night festivities, as she'd been doing spot checks for the weather most of the night, making sure everything looked sufficiently spooky. Afterwards, she'd had to take the time to put on her costume, and, though it was clunky to fly in, she was quite satisfied with it. It had taken her an incredible amount of time to decide what her costume would be, but when she finally landed on it, it didn't take her long to put the costume together. A pair of semi-translucent blue dragon wings were attached to her own, and her tail was braided and wrapped in ribbon, a barbed end attached to it to resemble a dragon's tail. Fake claws were attached to her hoofs, her hair was styled into spikes, and she had been going to wear fake teeth, though she decided against it for the sake of being able to eat and drink easily. Eyeing the crowd and the size of it, Stormy decided to avoid dropping in on the middle, or even the edge, and opted to land near a fire she saw a ways out from the main bulk of the crowd. As she approached she that a pegasus mare was running the stand, and that this pegasus was dressed as a bumble bee for the festivities. She also noticed the smell of hot cocoa coming from the stand, and it made her mouth water. "Hello, there," Stormy said, smiling at Starburst. "Mind some company?"
  12. Why are you all so good at these! D=
  13. While there are similarities, I'm pretty sure the 6-pointed star had been used as a symbol for magic and the unknown long before the occult and all that became really infamous. Symbols like this are incredibly generic and ageless. I doubt the creators had meant to reference something as dimly looked upon as the occult.

  15. Stormy shuffled her hooves as she stood at the gate to Cloudsdale. It'd been years since she'd set hoof on the clouds of her home, and she wasn't sure she was quite ready to return... However, she'd been ordered by the weather team back home that she needed to take a break. This seemed like the perfect chance to visit her father again, though he was busy in the weather factory for the moment. The pegasus figured she'd wander around Cloudsdale for a while before returning to her father's house. Sighing briefly, the blue pegasus started into town, walking down memory lane, as it were. She saw ponies at work, and ponies at play, and she glanced up at the flight school for a few moments as well. She fondly remembered her weather classes there, and almost wanted to pay a visit to her old teacher, but thought perhaps she should at least wait until classes were out. Instead, she went wandering deeper into the city, to see anything that may have changed or was perhaps new. A few little shops had sprung up, and as she continued walking, Stormy lost herself in thoughts and memories. She thought about storms, and her upcoming schedule with the weather team, and she thought about her father, and her school, and she thought about how she still couldn't really say that she knew anypony. She had always had few friends, and even after recovering from her mother's death, Storm hadn't really bothered to get to know anypony except her father. It was odd, and she came to the conclusion that this was something she needed to rectify. When she looked up, she realized that while she'd been lost in her thoughts, she managed to lose herself in Cloudsdale. The city had expanded apparently, and Stormy had no idea how or when she'd wandered into this unfamiliar new section. The fright that was just beginning to overtake her, however, was averted by a sudden hunger, and the pegasus sat down and stared around, confused, wondering where that smell of fresh baked bread was coming from.

    jobs?

Exactly, Tales, except they'd be singing about my amazing ability to roll Natural 20's, and the fact that I play a BA Demon/Tiefling Hexblade with an epic Intimidate skill! No spellcaster stands a chance against me. Also, there will be no hand-holding and running through the store at the end of the song. XD

    jobs?

I sadly do not currently have a job. Yay for being a college student! Bluh. The job I held from two summers ago to this past summer was at the, like, number 3 or 4 luxury theater in the nation. It's in Kansas. Imagine that. Actually kinda crazy sounding. It was a fantastic job for the most part. I kept busy and enjoyed it and I was a great team leader towards the end of my time there when I got to run teams. And it wasn't like the jobs where you SPECIFICALLY do one thing. I did everything. I sold tickets, I tore tickets, I prepared/sold concessions, I cleaned and handed out and collected 3D glasses (customers don't get to keep ours; we rent them and keep them all fancy. Top notch stuff goin' on at my theater), I cleaned the whole building from top to bottom (except the balcony and projection; those were different businesses in themselves, practically). It was fun. I miss those peoples. I don't, however, miss working during Jackass 3D and having guys, who'd BROUGHT THEIR GIRLFRIENDS WITH THEM, come out and flirt with me while I'm trying to make sure nobody runs off with our 3D glasses. Yeah... What I'm hoping to do next semester when I don't have an 8 o'clock class to worry about is work at the school library, a public library, or one of the gaming shops (not Gamestop, but, like... TCG and Tabletop RPG shops) around town. I'd be the only girl there. They'd get so much more business. They need to hire me. XD
  18. Strange. Little [1] keeps popping up in the corner of my screen, and when I click on it it takes me to a canterlot.com/chat url, but nothing loads, despite my having a fully updated adobe flash player...

  19. I'm about to draw ponies. Ohmahguh, someone help I have no idea what I'm doing.

  20. I don't think it's Dinky... Dinky's lavender... This unicorn is more blue than lavender.
  21. Thank you all for the welcome~! @Tales, no I haven't played Munchkin yet. I really want to, though! Most people I hang around stick to DnD, and this summer I'll be running a Doctor Whooves/MLP tabletop RPG. @Tenkan, hahaha. No, I can't read your mind because of my psychology setup; I can read your mind because 1) I'm just awesome like that, and B) I'm actually about as empathic as a human can get. Psychology just allows me to rationalize why you think the way you do.
