  1. Turning things back to danger and deadliness and back towards "crazy": Some friends (Who were baked out of their minds) showed up at my house asking for food. Of course, being a good friend, i toss them a couple bags of chips. Their motor skills are terrible, and they decide that the only way to open the bags is to smash them on the ground. I intervene, and just as i'm about to hand them the open bag, and old car come screeching into my cul-de-sac with a bunch of guys in it. It turns out that my friends, in their stoned rampage, had managed to do unspeakable things to these guy's car and lawn. Of course, i have to mediate, but one of my friends starts talking, and he says things that are unrepeatable. So a fight breaks out. To sum it up, i got a minor skull fracture and a broken clavicle. My friends got the stuffing stomped out of them. The guys who showed up beat us up, but i managed to get one of them to go through the windshield of their car. And that's why you don't hang out with stoners.
  2. I'd love to play the sheriff, but only if nopony else wants him. He seems like a fun character to have! (I believe his name is Silverstar, right?) Also, if Appleoosa needs a blatant tourist trap, i could have Maximilian open one, and hire some other ponies to actually run the joint.
  3. 'Canterlot's night life, eh?' Max sighed happily and started to reminisce. All the buyouts and backroom deals in the capital city came back to him. He took another sip and gave the mare something rare: an honest grin. 'I had some crazy times with some very powerful ponies here; of course, those are the kinds of things I just can't gossip about in public.' Max shook his head and chuckled. 'I don't think the Vanderbits would appreciate the word getting out about some of their more illegal exploits. Like trying to get rid of some pesky jour-' Maximilian grimaced comically and smacked his hoof into his forehead. 'But I digress; I'm sure you wouldn't like to hear about that boring stuff.' Maximilian teased Babbles with hints of information, trying to gauge her response. He sensed that she wanted something, and he took a gamble on his instincts, hoping to bait her with a tantalizing scoop. 'You have more important things to worry about than some petty plots and vendettas…' Max paused for a moment, reading her response; then he looked around and leaned in. '…Especially those that concern the press.' With a hearty laugh Maximilian reared back and left left his comments to hang in the air as he occupied himself with his drink.
  4. "My reputation? Oh, the usual. Like how I supposedly had Carneighy's office burned down to drive him out of business. Or how I allegedly swindled a bunch of ex-guards out of their pensions. But it's not true..." Max grinned, both stories were true. Of course, if you're going to lie, lie big. Maximilian traced the rim of his glass with his right hoof, finally able to voice his pent up disgust with the media. Max had no clue that the mare in front of him was a journalist, mainly because he mostly concerned himself with the business section of the newspaper, and rarely with periodicals.  "You know the press, too busy digging around in dumpsters for a story to do anything worthwhile. I mean, I read stories about my family that make me sick!" His voice was filled with angst, and Max's whining only got worse. "Most of it's just a bunch of worthless gossip anyways. If those foals would just let me do an interview I'd give them enough real news for a whole year!" He meant it too, his brain was filled with secrets and scandals. Max chuckled weakly and levitated the glass so it was in front of his muzzle, he still felt terrible. He gave the whiskey a quick glance and prepared to down it all, but something stopped him: the aroma. Maximilian took another sniff and his mind was flooded with memories. This was his father's drink, the stuff his dad would sip as he singlehoofedly ran an empire! He remembered his father reeking of be stuff after a night in the office.  With a tentative sip Max let the strong liquor drip down his throat, and the powerful drink burned his throat and instilled a new confidence in him. I'm a Rockefilly! I can do anything! With a quick motion he turned to the bartender and forcefully flung another lump of bits on the bar, making sure to show off his wealth to the others. "Thank you, just what I needed."  Max slammed the glass down, and with a fire in his eyes he turned to face Babbles. He was about to say something to the mare, but the arrival of a fresh face distracted him. Out of the corner of his eye, Max noticed the cream colored unicorn catch her breath. His instincts kicked in, and he realized that something was definitely suspicious about this mare. Slowly, he started to piece together the clues, but without any conclusion to make, he decided to continue the conversation. "Well, Babbles, I don't suppose you were invited here only for your charm and good looks, What do you do for a living?" He finished his sentence with a commanding look, his confidence was back, and he was on guard. He'd let her think he didn't suspect a thing.
  5. "Um.... Max, Maximilian Rockefilly..."He paused before adding "Jr." He took another sip of his drink and slowly set it down on the table. "From Manehatten."He tried to lighten the mood. "Don't believe anything you may have heard of me, especially if it came from a journalist." The Cream colored pony was being kind, but you don't live in Manehatton your whole life without becoming at least a bit suspicious of everypony else. Max took a deep breath, trying to calm down. Even if the mare had heard what had been said, it wasn't anything serious. He hoped and prayed there were no members of the press nearby, but at least he could talk to her, even if he had to lie. Max turned to the bartender. "Something very, very, very strong please." He returned his focus to the inquisitive mare, and Max decided to match her charm with some of his own. Max shrugged it off and added with a slight pout. "My friend was merely reminding me of a literary project we've been working on. He takes it a bit too seriously for my tastes. Sometimes I worry that he thinks it's real" He flashed a confident grin that was betrayed by his bright red face. He was usually a great liar, but he was just too flustered to do it correctly at that moment. "I'm afraid I haven't seen you around either. And since I've given my name, I would very much like to know yours"
  6. I'm gunna be in montreal for a week, so i probably wont be able to post or anything. Just giving everypony a tiny heads up.
  7. Max watched as the eccentric pony placed a hoof on his Tux. Normally he would have protested to it, but he was much too concerned with the doctor's words. The large grin offsetting the matter-of-fact way in which the pony described the events at the dig site. Maximilian's skin crawled and his face went pale as the realized his mistake, he had underestimated the earth pony. The events being described were not something that should EVER go public, and Max was doing mental cartwheels trying to figure out how in Celestia's name he was going to make that pony keep his muzzle shut. If the word got out that the Rockefilly's covered up such a crazy event, it would undo all of his attempts to redeem the family name. Maximilian was frozen in place as the doctor leaned in and whispered to him. He felt a cold shiver go up his spine as he was dismissed with nothing more than a sentence. And it was only made worse as the Doctor added a 'friendly' consolation before leaving. For the first time in a while, Max lost his cool. His face was a bright red as he shook his head from side to side, trying to keep himself from doing something stupid. He continued doing this for a few moments before he buried his head in his hooves and muttered to himself. "Not good..." He wasn't able to mope for long before he remembered a crucial fact. He said all of that in public With a frantic urgency Maximilian looked around trying to see if anypony had heard what had been said. His gaze fell upon the brown unicorn further down the bar. Instead of glaring at her, he simply stared at her with a look of utter shock and disbelief.
  8. Nice find! Now we'll just have to wait for applejack!
  9. Max watched as the good knight ordered his drink. He took this opportunity to adress the eccentric pony to his side who had mentioned something interesting. Something wasn't quite right about him, especially the tie. Maximilian lifted his drink. "It's great to see you, too! Cheers!" He flung his hoof around the earth pony and pulled him in for a tight hug. Maximilian chuckled and observed the others as they did their own business. When he was sure they were amply distracted he leaned in and whispered in the doctor's ear. "I don't know how you know about the dig site, and frankly I don't care. But I suggest that you NEVER mention that again." To maintain the cheery attitude he pulled back and gave a warm laugh. Max noticed the brown unicorn farther down the bar and he gave her a suspicious glare.
  10. Well, he asked for it. He had issued a challenge and the lovely bartender was up to it. With flair and grace she performed her job in a way that seemed more like art than work. She's good... He raised an eyebrow at her selection, the mix of fruits and other spirits seemed a little unorthodox. Max watched as a plethora of liqueurs were mixed together in a seemingly chaotic manor. The sense of anticipation grew inside of him as he tried to guess what the drink could possibly taste like. A bit fruity, but strong... Wait, what's with the shot glass? Max was in awe as she tossed bottles and mixed drinks in a way he hadn't seen in years. There were many good bartenders in Manehatton, but she was simply a level above. Maximilian was enthralled, and he realized that he was staring at the pink mare in front of him. She's amazing! But there's more to drinks than showmareship. Let's see how this stuff tastes... As the mare poured the pink mixture, he felt like reaching for it, but he was taken aback when she lit the shot glass on fire and dumped its contents into the pink drink. A depth charge! He hadn't seen one of those in a few odd years! Where was this kind of talent in Manehatton? He lifted up the glass with magic, and after observing it for a moment he took a swig. Max let the mixture sit on his tongue for a brief time before swallowing, allowing the full flavor to fill his mouth, The sweet fruit tingled his mouth as the strong rum burned his throat; a contrast in feelings that was a welcome departure from a simple cosmopolitan. Maximilian gave his head a quick shake and took another gulp before looking at the pink mare in astonishment. "I've had many a drink in my life, and I've been to every bar in Canterlot and Manehatton. Yet I've rarely seen a talent like yours and I've never had a drink like that. I asked you to surprise me and you certainly did." Still in a daze, Max opened his tuxedo's pocket, and using the magic link to his fortune he levitated a lump of bits out and plopped them on the table without bothering to count them. I know where i'm spending this gala One of his reasons to stay was obvious, he wanted more drinks like that one. But there was another reason, he never really chatted with anypony, and this seemed like a genuine opportunity to have a nice time. You don't make many friends in the business world. "Let me introduce myself. The name's Maximilian Rockefilly Jr ,from Manehatton. How is it that I couldn't find a talent like you until now?"
  11. The gala's atmosphere was stuffy, mostly due to its equally stuffy guests. Maximilian Rockefilly Jr. was practically begging for relief, in the form of a drink of course. The only drinks he'd had were only able to sour his mood. He didn't have much to be happy about. The white unicorn tugged at his tux, anxiously looking for some refreshment that didn't feel like a glass of water. Hopefully SOMEPONY here can mix a drink, or I might have to find some rubbing alcohol Raised as a Manehatton socialite, he learned how to handle his drink; but the chances of finding that at such a fancy party seemed slim. Max noticed a fresh face running the bar, and with no other options, he decided to give her a try. Ordering a drink is almost as complicated as making one, depending on who's ordering. Usually Max would get a dry, rinsed cosmo in a chilled glass with no less than 3 olives. But he decided to live a little. He might as well give the barkeep a little leeway, who knows? She might even be good! Without hesitating, Maximilian trotted over to the counter and spoke with his usual tone. He flashed her a sly grin meant to challenge the mare. "I'd like a drink..." He paused a moment, acting like he was making a choice. He motioned for her to be quiet as he thought. With a theatrical shrug he added: "Surprise me..."
  12. Maximilian Rockefilly Jr. tapped his hoof impatiently. As one of the richest ponies in Equestria, it was almost his responsibility to show up at the Grand Galloping Gala. "Another year at this dreadful gala, why didn't I just stay in Manehatton? At least there I can DO something..." He mumbled aloud. There was business to be done, he merely wanted to get his customary greeting to the princess out of the way so he could actually try to enjoy himself, something he didn't often do. The white unicorn examined his tuxedo, a custom number from hoity toity's shop, and wondered what could be taking so long. He decided to see what the hold up was, and he was surprised at what he saw. A griffin is here! He was taken aback as he stared at the winged creature before him It's acting quite strange... Max was certain they were all crude, violent creatures. ...but it seems there are exceptions to every rule. Time is money, and while he was intrigued by the griffin he certainly didn't want to be held up because of it. Some poor filly seemed to have distrubed it, and Max made his way up the stairs to investigate further. With a a quick trot he found himself next to the griffin and the pony. "Is everything quite alright?"
  13. I've updated the story, and i sent it off to ED. They like it, but i've got to write part two before they put it up.
  14. He's going well, i'm about to update him with some massive improvements.
  15. Good Point! I'm gunna have to do some major revisions...

  17. Here ya go. OMG, that is PERFECT. You, sir, deserve a tip of my cap.
  18. Just found this thread, i've been playing since M10. I'm the typical blue/white control player, i counter everything you try and prevent any damage you do. I just bide my time until my finisher hits the field. (I used to play eldrazi, anypony who needs an emrakul, ask)
  19. I found MLP:FIM while browsing KYM. At first i thought this was the DUMBEST show concept ever, but i decided to watch the first episode. I was hooked after that.
  20. Both good points. I'm gunna make him a bit older, and definitely change a bit about him. I'm not sure if i'll keep him a blank flank, but i'll try to make it work. Thanks for the input!
  21. [ Pony Related Character ] Name: Maximilian Rockefilly Jr. Alias(s) He mostly goes by "Max", but if you're a good friend you can call him "Mack". Gender: Male Age: Stallion Species: Unicorn Pelt Color: Pure White, but he always wears a black tux. Mane/Tail Color & Style: His mane and tail are finely groomed and cut to a respectable length. His mane is usually brown, but he's had it dyed blonde. Eye Color: blue Cutie Mark: A stack of bits. Physique: well built, but not very strong Residence: Manehattan, in a huge estate near the center of the city. Occupation: His business is making bits any way he can. Motivation: To redeem his family name after years of corruption and exploitation, while still making bits. And to use his fortune to Benefit ponykind. Poison Joke Effect: Physically unable to lie, or otherwise mislead anypony. Likes: MONEY: It's good stuff! culture, intelligence, fine dining: All important things for society to function, don't you think? He loves doing whatever pleases him: ANYTHING He adores Suits and Tuxes: Looking good is a central part of BEING good, right? Debating is an all time favorite thing to do: Arguing is futile. Dislikes: Earth Ponies: What, no magic or flight? Labor: Seems a bit tedious... He absolutely loathes idealists: Once you've seen the underbelly of society, HOPE is just a four letter word. His Family: A bunch of lazy, exploiting, cruel, terrible ponies who would sell each other out for a few bits. Good thing he's the only one left besides his mother. Character Summary: A quick history: Maximilian's Grandfather made a fortune by jumping into the market of the brand new 'railroads', his investment paid off, and after some cutthroat business practices his firm ended up on top and made him millions. His father, Maximilian Sr., expanded the fortune and created a massive political estate in Manehattan's upper echelons through graft, backroom deals and flat out unethical practices. His busy life never allowed him to spend quality time with his son, and they never developed a relationship. The Rockefillies became synonymous with corruption, and while they hold a lot of power in Manehattan, there isn't much love for this family of elites. Maximilian earned his cutie-mark, a stack of bits, after making his first successful investment. He became convinced that his purpose was to use money to make money, and for no other purpose. He was sent off to Canterlot to study magic, but he was quickly kicked out for using magic to counterfeit; an incident quickly forgotten after a large donation to the school. Once he returned, he spent the rest of his youth learning the intricacies of the political arena and the market. Years of firsthoof experience with cut-throat politics and shady business deals matured him quickly. After his father passed away, his mother became a shut-in and Max was left to run the family fortune, and he realized how much contempt there was for his family. Most ponies in the city hated how the Rockefillies had driven countless businesses bankrupt, destroyed all political opponents, and ran the city with no concern for the average pony. This new knowledge didn't affect him at first, but after a while the solitary life of earning bits and making deals left him fulfilled in every sense but one. Something didn't feel right, the surge of joy Maximilian felt from earning every bit was gone, and only a hollow feeling was left. He decided to re-evaluate his purpose in life, and travel Equestria not only to redeem the Rockefilly name, but discover what he should do with himself. Now for that personality stuff: Snooty and vain at first glance, it takes some patience to find the nice Stallion underneath the rich exterior. A valuable skill he picked up in the political arena of Manehattan was coercion and diplomacy, his command of language and argument comes in handy all throughout his life. He speaks eloquently, and Maximilian usually talks his way out of bad situations, mainly because he stinks at fighting and doesn't know much magic. Having basically raised himself, Max never really had a social life; no dating or making friends. Any form of casual conversation is hard for him, and he naturally tries to be business like. Max is certain that nopony likes him because of his name, even if they don't know him. His insecurity leads him to sometimes be a jerk around others, trying to get in their heads and under their skin solely to protect himself from the expected contempt. Around strangers, his personality is cold on the outside, and only slightly warmer on the inside. If you can befriend him, expect ferocious loyalty. Max is now a different pony. He had always felt like something was wrong, and when he met a young pony named Cherry, it set him on a whole new path. He now wants to benefit EVERYPONY, and he has no problem losing money to do it. He has no issue with hurting some ponies to benefit everypony. He may be nicer, but he's still not an idealist. In order to ensure 24/7 access to his fortune, Max usually carries some sort of magical pouch. While it seems like an empty bag, when he opens it the bag becomes a direct link to the Rockefilly fortune. In a pnch he can turn various other storage devices into a link, ensuring that he'll never be without Ponies he knows! Babbles- Met at the Gala He's absolutely infatuated with the journalist, and he respects her immensely. He very much wishes to meet her again, and he's already planned an interview with her. PeaBea- met in Ponyville. He thinks she's annoying, but adorable. Tempest Rime- Met in Ponyville. He doesn't know what to think! Shutterbug- Met in Fillydelphia. She's a skilled photographer, she just needs a stricter work ethic. Snake Oil- Met in Manehattan. He hates this pony, but respects him. Max stole his sunglasses, and now keeps them under lock and key in his house, only wearing them on special occasions. Sheriff Silverstar- Met in Appleoosa Doesn't think much of the mustachioed pony, he just sees him as a respectable old stallion. Louise LaMare- Met in Apploosa A kind pony whom he has no problems with at all Madame Bistro- Met in Appleoosa He loves her drinks, and he respects her immensely. Honeythread - Met in Appleoosa She's a smart young mare who has earned his respect with her gumption Arrow Plain - Met in Appleoosa A rambunctious young pony who he would very much wish to avoid. Zephyr Burst- Met in a cave near Manehattan Max feels terrible about what he did to Zephyr, and he honestly wants to see him again so he can apologize. Zephyr is the only living pony that Max is actually fearful of. Cherry Dawn- Met in Manehattan She's an amazing pony that helped push Max onto his new path. He wishes her the best and would do anything to help her out. Random Facts!: As a foal, Max was never allowed to have toys, so he developed the habit of counting bits, he does it almost all the time. The only thing his father ever gave him was his Mahogany desk. It's Max's most prized possession. Max was recently humiliated in the press, when his lawn grew out of control and enveloped his mansion. His father didn't spend much time with him, but when he did, he taught Max valuable life lessons. Like dealing with unforeseen circumstances by putting poison joke in his pillow. Or working under pressure by dropping him off in the middle of Manehattan with only 1 bit, and only allowing him to return home when he had 30. A beautiful picture by Buxy.
